Thus, the present work aims to propose classifications of coefficient of variation for physicochemical attributes of orange fruits. For this purpose, CVs of 42 articles were used, considering soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (TA), soluble solids and titratable acidity ratio (SS/TA), fruit length (FL), fruit diameter (FD), fruit mass (FM) and juice yield (JY), applying descriptive statistics and the Shapiro Wilk normality test. The limits proposed as low CV for the physical-chemical attributes of total soluble solids, titratable acidity, the ratio of total soluble solids and titratable acidity, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit mass, and juice yield are respectively 2.11; 4.39; 4.46; 2.27; 2.59; 4.71 and 1.99% while the high CV range corresponds in the same sequence to 9.61;15.02;15.12;8.99;9.69;19.39;16.34%.","PeriodicalId":438033,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121582628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But despite its frequent use, there is no support in the literature for using a single plot size and, therefore, there are works from the use of 5 to 100 seeds per experimental plot. It is understood that the works have been developed using different experimental precisions. The low experimental precision caused by a smaller-than-optimal plot size can lead to a high residual value in the analysis of variance and consequent difficulties in detecting statistical difference between treatments. On the other hand, the use of a high number of seeds per plot can lead to unnecessary expenditure and does not contribute to improving experimental precision. The objective of this work was to determine the optimal plot size in seed germination experiments under controlled conditions. The modified maximum curvature method according to Meier and Lessman was used. After the subsequent analysis, the high variations between different sizes and the factors that can be interfered because of this were observed, and the optimal plot size was defined as six seeds for the biogerminative test of lettuce by petri dishes of 10 cm in diameter.","PeriodicalId":438033,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125535240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 370 leaves of D. frutescens were collected, 270 of which were used to adjust the equations and 100 for validation. The length (L) along the main vein, the maximum width (W), the product of multiplying the length and width (LW), and the observed leaf area (OLA) was measured for all leaves. First degree, quadratic, and power linear equation models were fitted, where OLA was the dependent variable as a function of L, W and LW. From the 100 leaves destined for validation, and using the adjusted equations for each mathematical model, the estimated leaf area (ELA) was obtained. The means obtained from ELA and OLA were compared using Student's t test at 5% probability. The mean absolute error, the root mean square error, and the d Willmott index were also determined. To adjust the growth curves, simple linear, quadratic, cubic, power and exponential models were used, with the weight of the berries as a function of the diameter and length of the berries. The validation of the equations was carried out using the same berries as the estimates of the equations through Pearson's linear correlation, root mean square error, Willmott's agreement index and required sample size to estimate the equation. In recent years, there has been significant growth in the number of nurseries that produce clonal eucalyptus seedlings throughout Brazil, and in Espírito Santo soil, most are concentrated in Sooretama, producing seedlings throughout Brazil and for export. However, information on the quality of these seedlings when produced throughout the different seasons is not available. This information can be important, from a practical point of view, for planting and management, and from an experimental point of view, to direct research involving newly produced seedlings. Thus, this work aims to qualify, through the characteristic of DQI, clonal eucalyptus seedlings of different clones and in different seasons, to study the presence of interaction between the clones, and the environments formed by the different seasons of the year. Statistical analyzes were performed from 6,400 eucalyptus seedlings of four clones produced at different times in Sooretama and Jaguaré in the state of Espirito Santo, applying joint evaluation methods to study the interaction between genotypes by environments and verification of adaptability and stability. In the analysis by Annicchiarico and Lin Binns, the G3 genotype showed general adaptability and also showed adaptability in unfavorable environments, and the G2 and G4 genotypes showed adaptability to favorable environments. Despite the specificities of adaptability, all four genotypes can be indicated for planting at any time of the year, as they have an DQI greater than 0.2.","PeriodicalId":438033,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics","volume":"163 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124577651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Brazil, the banana (Musa spp.) stands out, not only because it is the most widespread, but also because it is the most consumed by all social classes. Cassava is a renewable, almost unlimited resource and one of the most abundant substances in nature. It is one of the most important starchy root crops of the tropics used for food and industrial purposes. The present study aimed to evaluate the use of biofilms based on cassava starch with the diffusion of silver nanoparticles (AgNP) on the conservation of banana 'Prata'. Initially, filmogenic solutions were produced using the casting technique for five treatments. Additionally, transparency, thickness, grammage, and, subsequently, the biofilms were applied in the film-forming solution for 1 min and suspended for further drying at room temperature. After this process, were evaluated the fresh mass loss and total soluble solids.
