A large part of PV power generation comes from large-scale and high-power inverters, which are normally connected to the grid through a distribution transformer. The operation of these high-power inverters with switching frequency mainly below 9 kHz due to design constrains need to be studied and their short-term incidents need to be understood. For that purpose, in this paper, output currents of three inverters have been measured using field measurements of a 3MW solar farm. The currents are then analyzed in time and frequency domains. The loss of information because of averaging effect in measuring window is explained and investigated using a numerical model of standard window based metric considering four invariant parameters. Moreover, identified characteristics are verified by means of performed experiments on a set of typical revenue meters. Starting from requirements on distributed energy resources voltage support defined by means of active power curtailment and reactive power intentional injection, corresponding P(V, f) and Q(V) static characteristics as for charging mode are proposed and their implementation on a reference battery energy storage system is presented. A laboratory experiment involving actual low-voltage feeder and several non-linear loads is proposed for this study. The method is based on the processing of synchronized current and voltage waveforms captured at multiple points of the power network by distributed measurement system with high accuracy. The harmonic propagation phenomena is studied with different types of wavelet transforms, namely decimated discrete wavelet transforms, wavelet packet transforms and continuous wavelet transforms. Advantages of each of the transforms are explained. This paper analyzes different load models described in bibliography for aggregated residential loads by taking into account their nonlinear behaviour in order to assess harmonic levels in distribution networks. The implementation of these models in the simulation software OpenDSS is also described. A comparison of the different load models is addressed in two different networks: the simple IEEE 4 buses test feeder and the more complete IEEE Europe Low Voltage test feeder. There is conjecture with regard to the impact that the inverters used to facilitate connectivity between solar PV generators and the grid will have on power quality disturbance levels. This paper has analysed power quality data collected from several thousand low voltage sites in order to facilitate an empirical investigation of the impact of small scale solar PV generation on PQ disturbance levels. The specific disturbances investigated are steady state voltage, voltage unbalance and voltage THD. The data analysed begins in 2009 when solar PV penetration was low in Australia and concludes with data from 2017. The study outcomes suggest that solar PV generation is leading to a change in the profile of voltage across the day and is increasing voltages to above light load levels at some sites. Initially, the tunable-q wavelet transform (TQWT) is employed for the extraction of the 50 Hz component from a voltage signal with any sort of disturbance. This is achieved by varying the quality factor of wavelet according to the signal information. The KBNN is a combined model of neural network and rule-based approach. This paper explores the potential of the KBNN for classification of the most common power quality disturbances. The efficacy of the KBNN approach is evaluated on a wide range of time-varying signals with noise, fundamental frequency deviation, and variation in signal parameters. At the beginning of the paper the need to locate disturbing loads and one-point and multi-point methods of their identification were presented, which are most often presented in the literature. The next part discusses the kernel density estimation, which was used in the method for statistical analysis. Then, the propagation of voltage fluctuations was discussed, on the basis of which the proposed method allows to identify the source of disturbances.
