Foi aplicada uma ficha de avaliação, o International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire - Short Form (ICIQ-SF) e um questionário de conhecimento sobre a musculatura do assoalho pélvico (MAP) e a ocorrência de IU, baseado em estudo tipo conhecimento, atitude e prática (CAP). Das 248 estudantes do curso, 170 (69%) participaram do estudo. Pela ficha de avaliação, 111 (65%) relataram perda urinária. De acordo com o ICIQ-SF, 63 participantes (37%) são incontinentes, sendo que 41 (65%) dessas apresentam IU de esforço, apresentando pequena perda e com frequência de uma vez na semana ou menos, com baixo impacto na sua qualidade de vida. A maioria das participantes que relataram ter dor na relação sexual (59%) e alguns sintomas uroginecológicos e intestinais, como esforço ao urinar (92%), jato interrompido (75%), incômodo na região vaginal (73%), constipação (53%), esforço ao defecar (53%) e esvaziamento intestinal incompleto (70%), apresentou queixa de IU. Todas as que usam protetor (100%) e procuraram atendimento médico (100%) eram incontinentes. O uso de anticoncepcional foi maior em mulheres sem perda urinária (84%). O conhecimento sobre a MAP e a IU foi adquirido gradualmente com o avançar do curso. Esse resultado sugere que as mulheres que não cursam Fisioterapia não têm domínio do assunto, sendo necessário disseminar o conhecimento sobre a IU e a atuação da fisioterapia.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121790869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A cross-sectional study was conducted with COVID-19 patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Assessment at hospital discharge included the following variables: RMS, pulmonary function, and peripheral muscle strength (Medical Research Council score [MRC] and handgrip dynamometry). A total of 25 patients with mean age of 48.7±12.3 years were assessed. Out of these, 72% presented restrictive ventilatory disorder, in addition to reduced RMS (maximum inspiratory pressure [MIP] of 74% and maximum expiratory pressure [MEP] of 78% of the predicted value). RMS (MIP and MEP, respectively) correlated negatively with duration of MV (r=−0.599, p=0.002; r=−0.523, p=0.007) and length of hospital stay (r=−0.542, p=0.005; r=−0.502, p=0.01); and positively with FVC (r=0.825, p=0.000; r=0.778, p=0.000), FEV1 (r=0.821, p=0.000; r=0.801, p=0.000), PEF (r=0.775, p=0.000; r=0.775, p=0.000), and handgrip strength (r=0.656, p=0.000; r=0.589, p=0.002). At hospital discharge, severe COVID-19 patients presented: reduced RMS; changes in lung function; negative correlation between RMS and duration of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), and length of hospital stay; and a positive correlation with lung function and hand grip strength.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128795818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participants underwent an assessment composed by anamnesis, level of physical activity, neuropsychological measures, and mobility. They also received a schedule of falls that should be completed over 22 weeks, on the day(s) a fall occurred. Moreover, the volunteers received monthly phone calls to inquire about occurrence of falls over time. For data analysis, a α=0.05 significance level was adopted and the SPSS software (20.0) was used to perform statistical tests. The two tools were compared regarding “sensitivity” and “specificity.” In total, 52 older adults composed the final sample, with a mean age of 70.5 years old. The adherence to the calendar was 63.4% compared to phone calls. Of nine participants who reported falls by phone calls, three notified them in the calendar, resulting in a 33% sensitivity. Out of the 43 people who did not report falls by phone calls, 31 delivered the calendar without registration. Thus, the specificity of the calendar was 72%. Schooling level, Mini Mental State Exam score and the Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination (revised version) score significantly influenced adherence to the calendar. In conclusion, there was a greater registration of falls by the monthly phone call compared to the calendar tool in community-dwelling older adults.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121531330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Entretanto, há poucos estudos que avaliam o tempo em pé utilizando medidas objetivas. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi verificar se o tempo em pé no trabalho está associado com dor na coluna lombar e nos membros inferiores nos últimos sete dias e 12 meses em cuidadoras de idosos e trabalhadoras da limpeza. Trata-se de estudo transversal, em que o tempo em pé no trabalho foi quantificado por meio de inclinômetros fixados na coxa e na coluna vertebral, e os sintomas musculoesqueléticos foram avaliados por meio do Questionário Nórdico de Sintomas Osteomusculares. Os dados foram analisados por meio da correlação ponto bisserial (rpb) entre o tempo em pé no trabalho e a presença de sintomas musculoesqueléticos. As análises foram realizadas por meio do software SPSS e o nível de significância adotado foi de 5%. Verificou-se que as trabalhadoras passam a maior parte do tempo em pé paradas (41,3%) ou andando (39,3%). Houve correlação positiva entre a presença de sintoma na lombar e o tempo em pé (rpb=0,52; p<0,05) e correlação negativa entre o tempo andando e sintomas no quadril (rpb=−0,53; p<0,05) nos últimos 12 meses e o tempo correndo e sintomas no quadril (rpb=−0,43; p<0,05) e na coluna lombar (rpb=−0,43; p<0,05) nos últimos sete dias. O maior tempo em pé foi correlacionado com a presença de sintomas na lombar; enquanto o menor tempo andando e correndo foram correlacionados com a presença de sintomas no quadril e na coluna lombar.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"449 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131846932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A avaliação da capacidade física pode ser realizada anteriormente à alta hospitalar, através de testes de exercícios submáximos. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a capacidade física e a tolerância ao exercício físico por meio do teste de degrau de seis minutos (TD6) em pacientes hospitalizados com diagnóstico de COVID-19 que fizeram uso de suporte de oxigênio (O2) durante a internação. Trata-se de um estudo prospectivo e intervencionista, incluindo pacientes com idade entre 18 e 90 anos, que necessitaram de oxigenoterapia durante a hospitalização. Foi realizada avaliação através do Perme escore, seguida do TD6, com análise da saturação periférica de oxigênio (SpO2), frequência cardíaca (FC), pressão arterial (PA) e percepção subjetiva do esforço através da escala de Borg, antes e imediatamente após o TD6. Foram avaliados 31 pacientes, com idade média de 51,9 anos. O dispositivo de O2 mais utilizado foi o cateter nasal (CN), em 64,5% dos pacientes. Em relação à FC, PA e escala de Borg, pudemos observar um aumento no valor médio dessas variáveis após o TD6. A SpO2 teve uma média menor quando comparada à avaliação inicial do TD6. O teste foi finalizado por 86,9% dos pacientes, sendo que, destes, 48,3% finalizaram com interrupções; 12,9% dos participantes suspenderam o teste. O TD6 foi capaz de avaliar a capacidade física e a tolerância ao exercício, tornando-se uma ferramenta eficaz para avaliação do paciente com COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126647894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We evaluated 18 women with patellofemoral pain, aged from 18 to 35 years, allocated into two groups. The experimental group performed the strengthening with blood flow reduction with the aid of a sphygmomanometer, associated with low load (≅20% RM). Whereas the control group performed exercises with the same load, but without blood flow reduction. The treatment was performed three times a week for six weeks, totaling 18 sessions. We used the numerical pain rating scale (NPRS) and the anterior knee pain scale (AKPS) questionnaire for evaluation; we evaluated the muscle strength of knee extensors by the digital dynamometer. The results showed that the partial vascular occlusion technique significantly improved the values of quadriceps strength gain in the right, 6.22kg (p=0.03) and left limb, 6.98kg (p=0.04), in women with patellofemoral pain. Therefore, training with partial vascular occlusion can be useful for strengthening of the knee extensor musculature in women with patellofemoral pain who, because of the pain, have low tolerance to high load exercises for muscle strengthening. An effective, safe and cost-effective technique, which does not require an investment in a leg extension machine, since, with a cuff, low load exercises can offer significant results.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130745568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Surgical neonates, divided into group without physical therapy (n=38) and group with motor physical therapy (n=38), were evaluated by TIMP and reasssment two weeks later. The physical therapy group performed standardized exercises for motor sensory stimulation once a day, whereas the other group received the usual care from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The predominant surgical diagnosis in both groups was gastroschisis, followed by congenital diaphragmatic hernia. In the initial evaluation, motor performance was equal between the groups, classified as “below average” for age, with z-score=−1.28 (p=0.992). In the reassessment, the physical therapy group presented better scores (p<0.001) and a higher difference in z-score (p<0.001), higher percentage of neonates classified as “within average” (44% in the physical therapy group and 2.6% in the no physical therapy group), as well as a higher weight gain percentage (p=0.038). We found a worsening of motor performance in 10.5% of the no physical therapy group (p<0.001) in the reassment. Motor performance improved in 81.6% of the physical therapy group and in only 13.2% of the no physical therapy group individuals (p<0.001). Conclusion: TIMP was safely and effectively applied to newborns; notably, the test must be performed by professionals experienced in care of neonates. Motor intervention was beneficial, significantly improving motor performance, and if applied early, it may adequate the motor development of these neonates, even before hospital discharge.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133350167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a documented, descriptive, and retrospective study of 262 full-term newborns. Variables used: newborns’ characteristics; main diagnosis, length of stay, follow-up by a multidisciplinary team; post-discharge referral. Most newborns were boys (52%), had a 5-minute Apgar score of nine, and most newborns and their mothers were white (61.1% and 48.9% respectively). Respiratory dysfunction was the main diagnosis (28.8%). Length of stay was eight days. There was a significant difference regarding length of stay (p=0.013), in which those with cardiorespiratory and other diseases stayed less time compared to those with malformation or maternal diseases. The social service was the most sought (81.2%) service, whereas physical therapy the least sought (18%). Newborns with higher weight were hospitalized for less time. Those that underwent physical therapy had longer stay (p<0.001). Main outcome was hospital discharge (68.7%) and referrals to the Basic Health Unit (57%). This study outcomes indicated newborns with less severe conditions, low number of specific studies for the full-term population, other diagnoses that refer to non-intensive care.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116333509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
