Therapeutic interventions based on rhythm and music, such as rhythmic auditory stimulation, have been used to treat the mobility and seem to positively influence on mood. This study aims to evaluate the effect of rhythmic auditory stimulation using music associated with physical therapy on mood in individuals with Parkinson’s, with an emphasis on depressive symptoms. This is a quasi-experimental study with a final sample of 18 patients aged 40-80 years, with a clinical diagnosis of idiopathic Parkinson’s disease, in the mild to moderate stages of the disease. Patients were randomized into two groups: Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation and Control Groups. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Portuguese version of the Beck Depression Inventory. Both groups reduced their The Beck Depression Inventory scores. However, only in the Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation Group the reduction was significant, with a mean difference in the inventory score three times greater than the Control Group.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121801393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participaram 142 técnicos administrativos, que responderam um questionário online sobre informações sociodemográficas, realização de tarefas, ambiente de trabalho e dor musculoesquelética. Os dados foram analisados por meio de uma regressão logística binária separadamente para cada desfecho, utilizando como variáveis dependentes as dores no pescoço, no ombro direito e na coluna lombar. A prevalência de dor entre os técnicos administrativos foi de 92,7% e as regiões mais afetadas foram o pescoço, a coluna lombar e o ombro direito. Os principais riscos ergonômicos foram: sobrecarga mental (estresse), mesa, monitor e cadeira de trabalho inadequados, ausência de orientação acerca dos riscos ergonômicos e das adaptações no ambiente de trabalho. Foi observada associação entre dor no pescoço e os técnicos administrativos que apresentaram maior sobrecarga mental (estresse), não fazem atividade física, não trabalhavam com mesa ao nível do cotovelo, não tinham espaço para apoiar os antebraços e utilizavam o touchpad; e entre dor no ombro direito e os técnicos administrativos que não tinham espaço para apoiar os antebraços e utilizavam o touchpad. Ainda, a dor na coluna lombar foi associada às mulheres que não possuíam apoio para os pés, mesa ao nível do cotovelo e cadeira com apoio lombar e estofamento, assim como àquelas que apresentaram maior sobrecarga mental (estresse). Conclui-se que é importante a instituição fornecer equipamentos e mobiliários adequados e oferecer treinamentos sobre os riscos ergonômicos presentes no trabalho.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128419314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dynamic and quantitative evaluations of this region provide better information for the clinic but the choice of the method depends on its measurement properties. This study aimed to identify the existing methods of quantitative dynamic evaluation of the shoulder and scapula complex, in a clinical context for the general population, identifying the measurement properties and outcomes of each method. The scoping review included in vivo studies, with samples without a specific clinical condition and involving applicable methods in a clinical context. We identified evaluated outcome, measurement method, and its measurement properties. We selected 29 studies that investigated 12 measurement methods, and evaluated their validity and reliability for 17 different outcomes. Most studies (n=21) addressed the position of the shoulder and the scapula and the derivative outcomes, using mainly the units of inertial measurement (n=5) and inertial magnetic measurement (n=6) as evaluation methods. The outcomes with valid and reliable methods were: shoulder joint range; scapula and shoulder motion range; muscle activity; shoulder joint center; humerus length; torque-time curve; functional performance; scapular dyskinesia; external shoulder rotators force; shoulder joint functionality and range; initial scapular movement; scapula and shoulder position; and shoulder angular velocity.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115598272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this study aimed to compare the perception of PFM contraction in the sitting position during the use of two different support devices on women with PFM dysfunction. This is a cross-sectional study performed with 37 women with stress or mixed urinary incontinence (UI). All women performed three free PFM contractions sitting on a chair, followed by three contractions using each support device (sand pads and a cylindrical foam, which provide sciatic and perineal support, respectively). Women scored the perception of PFM contraction from 1 to 5, as well as the perception of facilitation of contraction (higher grades show better results) and discomfort (higher grades show more discomfort) when compared with free contraction. The cylindrical foam presented similar results to sand pads for the perception of PFM contraction (2.84±1.61 vs. 3.19±1.43; p=0.34) and facilitation of contraction (3.38±1.34 vs. 3.19±1.54; p=0.61), as well as for their discomfort (1.83±1.23 vs. 1.5±1.16; p=0.20). Of all women, 57% preferred sand pads. Thus, both sand pads (sciatic support) and the cylindrical foam (perineal support) improved the perception of PFM contraction and facilitation of contraction in the sitting position of women with PFM dysfunction when compared with sitting with no device. The two devices presented no difference between them.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125041101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) may be a viable therapeutic resource since cause-effect studies have shown improvement in FC and QoL in other populations. However, its effect was not evaluated in cardio-oncology patients. The study aimed to describe the effect of an IMT program on the FC and QoL of a patient with cardiotoxicity, LDM, aged 41 years, female and, sedentary that developed heart failure after chemotherapy. The QoL was evaluated by the Minnesota test. Dynamic Inspiratory Muscle Strength (S-Index) and Glycemic Threshold (GT) of the inspiratory muscles were also evaluated. The GT was determined by capillary glycemia with a digital glucometer (Accu-Chek - Roche), at the lowest value of glycemia of the load corresponding to the Incremental Inspiratory Muscle Test (IIMT). The load progression was performed every two weeks. After two months, all tests were reapplied. In the Minnesota test, the values related to FC, pre and post IMT, were 36 v. 8 (78% improvement); the clinical and psychological aspects 32 v. 7 (78% improvement); S-Index was 41 v. 51cmH2O (24% improvement). IMT improved the FC and QoL of a cardio-oncology patient, configuring itself as a possible and viable therapeutic resource for this population.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126061814","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PubMed, Cochrane, PEDro, SciELO, and LILACS databases were independently searched by two reviewers, from the beginning of the publications until April 2021. We included randomized clinical trials with individuals with musculoskeletal disorders of the UL with pain and/or functionality outcomes, who have undergone intervention with PE. Reviewers independently determined study eligibility, extracted data, and assessed methodological quality using the PEDro scale. We included eight studies, totaling 603 participants. Compared to the controlled group, the PE intervention showed better results in three studies for pain relief and/or functionality improvement. Apparently, PE is more effective when combined with exercise.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134390569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Change in this behavior can be promoted with the use of technologies. We aim to develop an interactive responsive website to promote behavioral changes in computer users. From a literature review, modifiable risk factors associated with health problems in computer users were identified. Messages were created to increase knowledge and promote behavioral changes in users. These messages include recommendations regarding breaks, adjustments in the workplace, physical exercise, hydration, among others. The messages are personalized, and the user includes personal information and current lifestyle habits. All this information was implemented in an interactive responsive website developed in JavaScript language and Node.js engine. The responsive website was developed, including the proposed features, and is available online. Future studies can evaluate the effectiveness of the responsive website in promoting behavioral changes among computer users, improving their health and quality of life.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114657399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The literature still lacks a consensus on which resistance training program is better for older people, especially when considering frailty status and sarcopenia. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a progressive resistance training program on muscle mass and frailty status in older sarcopenic women. This study included 18 community-dwelling sarcopenic women aged 65 or older enrolled in the progressive resistance training program. The intervention was based on 75% of each subject’s maximum repetition test (3 times/week, for 12 weeks). Before the intervention, 16.7% were frail, and 61.1% were pre-frail; after the intervention, 5.6% were frail, and 50% were pre-frail. The result shows that the intervention reduced frailty status and increased muscle mass (p=0.01). Hence, after the intervention, we observed both a decrease in frailty and a positive change in function, since the percentage of robust women increased twice (p=0.01). We conclude that the progressive resistance training program might be the best strategy to prevent frailty and sarcopenia. Therefore, we suggest using weight resistance training in daily clinical practice to improve muscle mass and decrease frailty status in sarcopenic women.","PeriodicalId":436434,"journal":{"name":"Fisioterapia e Pesquisa","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122935165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
