Concurrent chemo radiotherapy causes acute hematological toxicities, which in turn leads to prolongation of therapy. Objective: The main purpose of our study, was to analyze the acute hematological toxicity in cervical cancer patients undergoing radiation or chemo radiation therapy. Materials and Methods: This is a hospital based observational study done at department of Radiation Oncology, Assam medical college and hospital. All the biopsy proven cervical cancer patients attending the department, within the study period from September 2020 to May 2021 are included in the study. Results: Out of 26 patients in the study sample, grade 1 hematologicaltoxicity is seen in 2 patients (7.5%), grade 2 hematological toxicity seen in 20 patients (77%), grade 3 hematological toxicities in 4 patients (15.5%) and none of the patients developed grade 4 nor grade 5 hematological toxicity or any other life threatening complications. Conclusion: Hematological toxicity is more common with conventional external beam therapy in locally advanced carcinoma cervix patients. Compared to conventional external beam radiotherapy and 3DCRT, patients undergoing treatment with IMRT experiences significantly less acute grade ≥2 hematological toxicities.

Melanoma arises from the malignant transformation of the melanocyte and cutaneous melanomas are the most common followed by ocular, mucosal and melanoma of unknown primary site. Here we present a case of a 54 year old male who presented with a pigmented lesion on the palate, a type of mucosal melanoma. Due to the rarity of this disease, it is infrequently studied. Hence, epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis and prognosis still remains to be less understood than cutaneous melanoma. Early diagnosis is warranted as therapeutic options are limited for advanced and metastatic disease. Surgery is the primary therapeutic management and complete resection is the main goal. If not feasible, radiotherapy may also be employed to achieve local control and enhance locoregional response. In Thailand, however, it was not fully introduced to all health care funds until 2020. The purpose of this study was to determine the overall survival (OS) and treatment pattern in the period before EGFR-TKI became universally available to all patients. \u0000Methods: This was a retrospective study conducted at 10 medical centers in Thailand. Patients harboring the common mutation (exon 19 deletion or exon 21 L858R) diagnosed during January 2013 and December 2019 were enrolled. \u0000Results: This study included 284 patients with a median follow-up time of 19.8 months and a death rate of 80.3% (228/284). Clinical characteristics included median age 62.5 years, female 65.5%, never-smoking 74.3%, stage 3B/4/recurrence 2.1/93.3/4.6%, exon 19/exon 21- 60.9/38.7%. Treatment patterns to EGFR-TKI included not receiving (NR) (9.5%), first-line (1L) (56.0%), switch maintenance (MN) (3.5%), second-line (2L) (21.8%) and third-line (3L) or more (9.2%). Median OS of patient receiving EGFR-TKI as NR, 1L+MN, 2L and 3L or more was 11.10 (95%CI: 8.21 to14.00), 19.08 (95%CI: 15.76 to 22.41), 23.06 (95%CI: 15.91 to 30.21) and 32.46 (95%CI: 21.61 to 43.30) months (p=0.006), respectively. Factors contributing to poor prognosis in the multivariate model included poor ECOG-PS (HR 3.17, 95%CI: 1.96-5.13), not receiving EGFR-TKI (HR 3.83, 95%CI, 1.94-7.56) and receiving EGFR-TKI 1L (HR 2.30, 95%CI: 1.40-3.79) \u0000Conclusion: OS of patients with EGFR mutation positive lung cancer treated with EGFR-TKIs in Thailand was comparable to clinical studies. Greater understanding of patients’ coping strategies, and influencing factors, can aid in developing appropriate psychosocial support. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of coping strategies and associated factors among cervical cancer patients. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 299 cervical cancer patients on follow-up treatment at Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Data were collected through face-to-face interview to assess patients’ sociodemographic characteristics, self-efficacy, meaning in life, perceived social support, uncertainty, cognitive appraisal, and coping strategies. Pearson’s correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis was conducted. Results: Findings reveal that women utilized both problem-focused and emotion-focused coping strategies. However, emotion-focused coping strategies were more frequently employed than problem-focused coping strategies by cervical cancer patients. Self-efficacy (ß=.27, p<.001), meaning in life-presence (ß= -.25, p=.015), perceived social support from friend (ß= .36, p<.001), and perceived social support from significant others (ß= -.27, p=.048) predicted emotion-focused coping strategies. Moreover, self-efficacy (ß=.25, p<.001), uncertainty (ß= -.13, p=.003), meaning in life-presence (ß= -.12, p=.003), meaning in life-search (ß= .12, p=.009), perceived social support from family (ß= .11, p=.021), and challenge appraisals (ß= .13, p=.010) were determinants of problem-focused coping strategies. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that women with cervical cancer adopt varied coping strategies to deal with their illness. Since coping strategies adopted are influenced by the extent of personal and environmental factors, there is a need to take these factors into account when developing tailored interventions to support patients’ coping strategies.

It is important to handle the presence of ties in the data to prevent the inherent effect which may lead to unreliable result in the analysis. Therefore, this study was carried out handle the inadvertent inclusion of ties in survival time with three different estimation methods; Breslow, Efron and exact partial likelihood estimation methods of Cox regression model. Material and Methods: Analysis were carried out using data collected on 300 breast cancer patients from University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital to evaluate the factors affecting the survival of patients with breast cancer. The estimation methods used in handling ties in the breast cancer data are compared using Akaike Information Criterion. All analyses were performed using STATA version 14.0. Result: Of a total of 300 patients, 97 (32.33%) died of breast cancer. The result of the data analysis using Cox model with different estimation methods were approximately alike. The risk of dying from the breast cancer was associated with age of the patients; patients with Cytological diagnosis had an increased risk for death. Conclusion: The hazard ratios of the estimators are approximately similar but based on Akaike Information Criteria, exact partial likelihood outperformed the other methods of handling ties in breast cancer data since it has the smallest value.

There are many benign conditions, those that do not require surgical treatment, displaying imaging characteristics that resemble CCA, leading to therapeutic misadventures. This study aimed to evaluate the proportion of benign conditions that underwent hepatic resection for presumed CCA, and explore the differences between the characteristics of these two entities stratified by primary imaging features of the lesions. Methods: This retrospective study ran between January 2004 and December 2011. We reviewed the pathological records of all 1,402 patients who underwent curative-intent hepatic resection for preoperatively diagnosed CCA. All clinical and pathological parameters were analyzed. Results: The proportion of benign conditions that underwent hepatic resection was 3.78% (53/1,402). For mass-forming lesions, CCA was associated with higher age, alkaline phosphatase, tumor markers, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, and mass size. The patients with mass-forming benign conditions were more associated with diabetes mellitus. For lesions with bile duct dilatation, intraductal tumor, including CCA, had higher CA19-9 level and NLR with statistical significance. For cystic lesions, biliary cystic neoplasm had statistical significance in the rate of abdominal pain. Conclusions: The proportion of hepatic resection for benign conditions was quite low. There were many characteristic differences used to differentiate benign mass-forming conditions from CCA, whereas only few markers in the setting of cystic lesions and biliary dilatation. We recommend performing standard hepatic resection in every case, regardless of the type of imaging features, if the lesion has a chance of being CCA.

Several studies have shown that ALC and LMR can be used as prognostic indicators for diagnosis, treatment and survival in DLBCL. But there were very few studies done on the correlation of these parameters with T cell lymphoma. So we analysed the influence of haematological parameters in both DLBCL and T cell lymphomas. The primary objective of the present study was to correlate haematological parameters and LMR as predictors of DLBCL and T cell lymphomas. Methods: We analysed total cases of 108 with DLBCL and 25 with T cell lymphomas. The study was done to determine the changes in haematological parameters including WBC count, Platelet count, Hb, HCT, lymphocyte count, monocyte count, ALC, AMC and lymphocyte monocyte ratio in diffuse large B cell lymphoma and T cell lymphomas before and after chemotherapy. Results: The results showed a significant decrease (p˂ 0.05) in the blood platelet counts after chemotherapy in DLBCL. AMC in female patients with DLBCL were decreased (0.69 ± 0.36 to 0.53 ± 0.31; p-value = 0.023) and this was highly significant. Multivariate analyses showed that the patient’s age, sex, mode of presentation, co-morbidity, and the stage had significantly influenced their survival. Although the primary tumor location has an impact on the overall survival in metastatic settings, the laterality of early-stage colon cancer might also affect the disease-free survival and determine the duration of adjuvant chemotherapy for each side. This study aimed to compare overall survival and disease-free survival between left-sided and right-sided high-risk stage II and stage III colon cancer in patients from a single institute. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted between January 2004 and December 2017. Data on 153 patients who underwent curative resection and adjuvant chemotherapy for colon cancer were retrieved from an existing database. Results: We found that the five-year disease-free survival rates were 63.20% for left-sided colon cancer and 51.11% for right-sided colon cancer (P-value < 0.05). The five-year overall survival rates were 66.98% for left-sided colon cancer and 57.77% for right-sided colon cancer (P-value 0.063). The right-sided primary tumor location was associated with a significantly higher mortality rate (HR: 2.28; 95%CI 1.38–5.8; P-value: 0.004).
