In addition, communication becomes the main issue that people with ASD will be struggling with. Nowadays, technology has become a necessity for our daily life, and it provides convenience to people to communicate effectively. However, ASD individuals may experience a wide variety of communication challenges. Most of the parents were concerned that the usage of the technology may negatively impact their ASD child. Hence, by conducting this study, we will understand how technology may affect them. This research aims to explore the usage of computer-mediated communication (CMC) in assisting ASD individuals in communicating. A qualitative research method is chosen to conduct this research, and the phenomenological study served as the research design. The samples were selected through non-probability sampling. Researchers conducted in-depth interviews with parents with ASD children, Special Education teachers or caregivers, therapists, and instructional communication technology experts to gather insightful information about CMC and ASD individuals. Findings indicated that all the informants agreed the CMC, such as computers, phones, or TV, can encourage ASD individuals to communicate with others and helps in their education. Even though the CMC helps the ASD individual in communication and education, throughout learning and communication, the usage of the CMC should be monitored to avoid addiction.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"2017 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130935466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, television plays an essential role in most people's lives. This study aims to learn about children's acceptance of children's television shows in Malaysia. In the report, 30 children aged four to six years old were interviewed and examined. Interviews were performed in English and Malay, depending on the children's preferred language of expression: some were bilingual, while others spoke only Malay. During the observation period, the researchers observed and reported what the children said and did while watching. In terms of cognition, this research suggests that children have optimistically specific basic literacy skills. Affectively, the children can express their emotions by sufficient or reasonable emotional responses, and they can interact with the character's customs, etiquette, and cultural heritage to a limited extent. Children implicitly perceive sex-role stereotyping on a behavioral level. This research demonstrates that children comprehend basic literacy skills cognitively. Affectively, the children communicate their emotions through acceptable or sufficient emotional responses and can associate with traditions, etiquette, and cultural heritage to a limited extent. Children intuitively recognize sex-role stereotyping on a behavioral level. The results of the final review showed that television did not affect. The final study results showed that television did not significantly impact children's perceptions; instead, daily experience and context affected their awareness and understanding.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130530823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
