While powerful missionaries of global media culture have penetrated and integrated various media markets, the development of East Asian media cultural production and inter-Asian media production and consumption has become apparent. These developments, on the other hand, enable the disguising of anti-ethnocentric patterns of cultural production, circulation, and connection as globalisation. This eventually invites dialogic connections among people from different regions. In the context of the uneven globalisation process, this article critically reviews the rise of East Asian media culture production and how inter-Asian connectivity plays its role in limiting symmetrical cultural exchange within Asia. The debate spans two of East Asia's most powerful media imperialists: Japan and Korea, as well as their transnational media and culture industries and how they started. The methodology used is literature review and observation, which leads to findings based on secondary data. Arguments on the impact of their advancement also discuss the effects of the media and cultural swapping on their Southeast Asian counterparts based on past research. In future studies, researchers must investigate the unevenness and inequality in the inter-Asian mass culture network, particularly their impact on Southeast Asian countries, where upcoming research can collaborate transnationally with various social actors to advance inter-Asian media culture connections in a more democratic and dialogic manner.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"725 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122999038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to research how to present events and information in Arab historical drama in accordance to the directions of dealing with the information on which the dramas of Islamic history are based. The study used the descriptive-analytical approach and the two methods of content analysis and statistical analysis, it took the series of \"Omar\" as a case study to research in the treatment of historical information. The study concluded the importance of informational accuracy in the treatment of events in increasing audience confidence in the series, Therefore, the series of Omar benefited from specialists in history and Sharia to review texts and historical events. While the dramatist may use fantasy in details in which no texts were mentioned, relying on understanding the nature of life in this time that is being simulated, but relying on imagination is not correct in dealing with the history of sensitive personalities such as Sahaba, while this is possible with other characters and with a positive portrayal of them.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"367 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123193104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the help of Internet, youth development processes are positively encouraged. In order to understand how Internet can influence Positive Youth Development (PYD), this study was carried out with an attempt to identify the relationship between problems of using Internet, income, and PYD with the mediate effects of Internet use gratification among Malaysian youth. A quantitative survey method was used to collect data from 440 students (142 male and 298 female) majoring in science and social science from University Putra Malaysia using stratified random sampling. The results show that there is a mediate effect for Internet use gratification with problems of using Internet and five dimensions of PYD; however, this relationship is not significant for the role of income. In addition, no significant difference was found between science and social science groups. The relationship between Internet use gratification and 5Cs (connection, competence, character, caring, confidence) proved to be significant. There is no statistically meaningful relationship between participants' income and 5Cs except for confidence. There is no significant relationship between income and Internet use gratification. There is also no significant relationship between problem of using Internet and the (5Cs); however, this relationship proved to be significant with Internet use gratification. Implications of the study are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114496466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vast background in culture and religion in Malaysia would make not everyone be able to understand the topic of halal. However, the comprehension and the value of a multi-racial consumer perspective for better Halal branding practices in the country are excellent. The importance of this study is to understand the concept of halal and explore the attitude and behaviour of the halal brand among non-Muslims. This study is qualitative. The research design of this study is an exploratory case study that employs semi-structured interviews. With eight informants from the nonprobability of purposeful sampling, the participants include diverse backgrounds from students to industry experts, reflecting all possible study sides. The findings show that non-Muslims had limited knowledge about the halal brand. Halal is a specific notion to indicate that Muslim consumers' food is safe to consume. Especially pork-free and non-alcohol. Non-Muslim consumers affirmed they still need to know about the whole concept of halal more than just a logo. Understanding the need of others is also significant in a multi-racial country. Though non-Muslims are aware of the existence of the halal logo, especially in daily needs product, they do not restrict themself to halal brand as for them, quality and brand name is their priority in purchasing. Hence, based on this research, it is suggested that the future researcher explore how the brand image of the so-called halal product may attract and create the purchasing intention among non-Muslim consumers.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125500092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While there are many issues that surround the Muslim ummah, the loss of “adab” due to the confusion of knowledge has been the main culprit in advancing moral collapse crisis across the globe. Perfection of character through “adab” is the main focus in Islamic philosophy. To rectifies the issue; the media need to be at the forefront of educating the community on the real face of Islam. Looking at the success of a few Islamic-theme-series particularly \"Umar Al-Khattab\" gives us hope in promoting the virtues and principles of Islam through Islamic historical dramas or movies especially in the context of Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Content analysis method was used to analyse “adab” from the Umar Al Khattab series. “Adab” or virtue is related to the teachings of Islam which by further understanding the virtues can be educational to the viewers. Bringing back the identity as a Muslim can be done at the core level by restoring faith in an individual by showcasing the influential individuals in Islam through dramas or films because media are powerful tools in changing people's opinion and way of thinking.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124927251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the agency that regulates the registration of organizations in Malaysia, JPPM takes a serious responsibility to ensure security and peace in the country and the well-being of the people is preserved. Is the program effectively perceived by the community? Is there a relationship between neighbourhood/community activity fund management and hygiene and maintenance programs? Among the objectives of the study are, 1) to identify the level of effectiveness for neighbourhood/community activities, and 2) to identify the effectiveness level for hygiene and maintenance programs.  This study uses a quantitative approach using a questionnaire form that has been constructed using the google form link. The selection of online data collection techniques was made after considering the Conditional Movement Control Order following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Malaysia. The study receives feedback from 1188 respondents among associations registered under JPPM. The findings reveal significant remarks on both variables which are positive by the majority.  The mean score for items makes it clear the relevancies for the program. This study suggests a deeper analysis of multiple regression to identify the items that have more wights in measuring both variables.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114555876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For celebrity preachers, the influence and attraction that they have within them is able to attract hundreds of thousands of social media users to follow their accounts and subsequently accept and trust the da’wah content posted. Celebrity preachers need to build credibility so that the posting of da'wah content uploaded through social media does not cause the effect of the disorder of religious information presented especially involving the ruling of religious hakams. This study aims to study the credibility that should be built as guidance for the celebrity preachers before uploading any posts of da'wah content on social media.  This study uses in-depth interview methods with two preachers namely Mohd Farid Ravi Abdullah and Don Daniyal Don Biyajid. The results found that celebrity preachers on social media should build their credibility by being purely sincere in da’wah intention for Allah (ikhlas), having a sense of responsibility for the content of da'wah posted, seeking to gather religious knowledge as deeply and morally as these celebrity preachers are exemplary followers of their social media accounts.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131330766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Of course, this is also applicable to people who are working. It affects many working people as they now have to face the Movement Control Order (MCO). The MCO restricts people from moving to places as it is trying to avoid gathering people that could potentially spread the virus even faster. Since we are researching Public Relations Practitioners, we are trying to see how this pandemic will affect how they work during the pandemic. We theorize that there was a significant change in the way Public Practitioners work before and during Covid-19. Therefore, we have interviewed many Public Relations practitioners to see if what we theorize was true. We pose multiple questions about how this pandemic has affected their work as public relations practitioners. We theorize that the MCO especially has left a significant impact in their career as the MCO would restrict things such as moving around from place to place to meet clients. Standard of Procedures was also established to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, and its content forbids a gathering of people. People need to commit to social distancing as well as there needs to be a set amount of people allowed in one confined place. Because of all of this, we theorize that Public Relations practitioners are now learning to conduct meetings with clients and other employees virtually. Whether through Skype, Google Meet, or Zoom, all of those factors may result in them having to reschedule their whole plan for the year.","PeriodicalId":435568,"journal":{"name":"Al-i’lam - Journal of Contemporary Islamic Communication and Media","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127984407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
