These networks can be deployed for the surveillance of large and critical areas, such as hydropower or water treatment stations. The mobile nodes can vary from internal tactic robots to higher speed terrestrial vehicles, through to aquatic and aerial vehicles. This paper presents a routing solution for a heterogeneous mobile WSN, composed of fixed and mobile nodes, with different mobility models. The solution is based on the selection of cluster-heads, which use classification mobility levels to deliver data to the sink. The solution is compared to other solution using the SiNAlgo simulator. Results show that our solution is efficient in terms of overhead messages, and transmitted data packets.","PeriodicalId":435485,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second Brazilian Conference on Critical Embedded Systems","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125415316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each more, the evolution on the manufacturing process allows more features to be included on these embedded systems and determine an increased complexity of their hardware and software design. This increase of design complexity requires tools that may reduce the time spent on the development process of several parts that compose these systems. In the final design stages, the application and its properties are represented by tasks and processors managed by an operating system, so a well defined API can be used by developers to explore MPSoC's computational resources in a fast manner. This work presents a case study of applications running on top of Hellfire OS, and how real-time properties are modeled on the operating system. Different scenarios are presented on the results, involving RTOS performance for common system calls, message passing performance for communicating tasks a dynamic reconfiguration of real-time task sets using load balancing techniques.","PeriodicalId":435485,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second Brazilian Conference on Critical Embedded Systems","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130914526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed procedure, coupled with specific knowledge of the environment, allows for localization to be achieved through the pairing of these memorized features with the scene being observed in real time. Experiments are conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed method for the localization of mobile robots in indoor environments. The results are analyzed and navigation alternatives and possible future refinements are discussed.","PeriodicalId":435485,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second Brazilian Conference on Critical Embedded Systems","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121141448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wind and surface currents affect vehicle motion in different manners. This paper shows the development of an estimator based on an artificial neural network which is used for wind velocity estimation in autonomous surface vehicles, intended to operate in protected waters, i.e. with no water surface currents. An aquatic vehicle motion model considering surge, sway and yaw motions in the boat dynamics, as well as wind speed and direction effects on its position, is presented here. Considering the wind disturbances, an artificial neural network is used to identify wind absolute speed and direction, so the actual vehicle should not need to carry wind speed and direction sensors aboard, only a GPS and an electronic compass, as planned. A Perceptron neural network was used in order to quantify wind speed and direction based only on boat displacements and its internal operational parameters as motor thrust and rudder angle. Those conditions were compared to a reference model in order to achieve a proper network training. The network showed good results for steady-state boat operation and also satisfactory results for transient responses.","PeriodicalId":435485,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second Brazilian Conference on Critical Embedded Systems","volume":"434 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126993256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents an autonomous patrolling system composed by 4 intelligent robots that can freely move through an indoor environment and detect intruders. The robots use a localization/navigation system composed of an artificial neural network (ANN) trained to detect key features of the environment. These features are used to identify context changes, being used as input of a finite state machine (FSM), allowing a topological map localization and navigation of the robot in the environment. When an intruder is detected, a broadcast message with its position is sent, making all other robots execute a multi-agent version of a coordinated A* algorithm in order to determine the best path to reach that position and to surround the target. Then, the robots autonomously navigate through this defined path until reach the goal. Experiments were performed in the player/stage environment in order to evaluate the multi-agent system. The localization/navigation system with intruder detection was evaluated in the real world with a Pioneer P3-AT mobile robot.","PeriodicalId":435485,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second Brazilian Conference on Critical Embedded Systems","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128828394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, creating a domain-specific language (DSL) to build applications in that domain is a process that needs specific guidelines. To the best of our knowledge, current DSL engineering processes do not address such issues. This paper presents a DSL engineering process to that domain. The process roughly consists of extracting domain abstractions from existing robot applications and transforming them into elements of a graphical DSL. It was specified from our experience in building one robot application, however, different applications might be built with the resulting DSL. The main objective is to show a possible starting point that could be taken for creating DSLs.","PeriodicalId":435485,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second Brazilian Conference on Critical Embedded Systems","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114673514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So far, there has been no consensus on the criteria to be adopted by the community to, at least, keep the minimum safety levels as those already attained by international aviation. In this scenario, commercial aircrafts - with an increasing amount of passengers - and UAVs could be sharing the same airspace. There are a lot of concerns about the current navigation, control and surveillance system capacity as well as about the ability of analyzing and monitoring the resilience of the operating environment of the organizations and Authority Control to handle some dangerous situations caused by possible collisions between these aircraft. Based on this scenario, a research about UAV in Controlled Air Space is presented. The proposal is modeling UAV based on the Multiagent paradigm. Several scenarios and results are presented and discussed herein.","PeriodicalId":435485,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second Brazilian Conference on Critical Embedded Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129701584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
