This research project aims to optimize coffee export processes through the development of management software for these exporting companies that allows them to have optimized processes, better control of their activities and make better decisions when exporting. Due to the great variety of types of coffee and the different destination markets, market segmentation was defined as a marketing strategy, which will allow the application of differentiated, efficient and effective commercial strategies. With the implemented software, the companies have been able to improve their export processes, the complexity of the different objectives and scenarios, the software plans quite accurately, as well as the calendar, volumes, and types of coffee to be exported. This helps coffee exporters to have adequate control of their activities and improve export processes, being more efficient and above all, making better decisions based on the information stored; With the use of a management tool, a higher percentage of organized producers is achieved, the export process is considerably improved and there is a greater participation in the international market.","PeriodicalId":434269,"journal":{"name":"European Business & Management","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129051572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Grain legumes also serve as rotation crops with cereals, reducing soil pathogens and supplying nitrogen to the cereal crop. Food legume crops are considered vital crops for achieving food and nutritional security for both poor producers and consumers. One of the important legume crops grown in Rwanda is common bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L. ) which is the most priority crop occupying the largest arable land and consumed by majority of people. It is an important food legume for direct consumption as well as a source of farm income in Rwanda. The study was conducted in Burera district of Northern Province of Rwanda. A multistage sampling technique was employed in this study. Eighteen (18) farmers were randomly selected from each of the seven sectors making one hundred and twenty six (126) farmers do agriculture of common beans as commercial purpose as sample size. The main objective of the present study was to analyse the factors influencing the adoption of climbing beans and challenges of smallholder farmers in Rwanda. The results indicated that out of 126 respondents the majority were female. The findings indicated that, the majority of farmers grow their beans on less than 0.5ha. The results show that eight variables out of nine positively influence beans adoption while two variables negatively influence the adoption of climbing beans. The results show that land size, family size, high yield, educational level, off-farm income, output, price, farming experience, and extension services were significant in influencing adoption of climbing beans varieties. The results indicated that climbing beans produce up to three times more than the bush beans varieties. Many farmers mention staking as a major challenge to growing climbing beans. Afforestation, increasing agroforestry trees, adoption of poles and ropes, which can be used as staking materials, should be reinforced in study area. This will help to improve soil fertility through N-fixation, erosion control, environmental protection. Climbing bean residues complement animal feeds and organic manure production.","PeriodicalId":434269,"journal":{"name":"European Business & Management","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128218519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
{"title":"Organizational Structure and the Performance of State Corporations in Kenya","authors":"Kenneth Goga Riany","doi":"10.11648/j.ebm.20210706.17","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.11648/j.ebm.20210706.17","url":null,"abstract":": In the recent past, many state corporations in Kenya have been facing dismal performance trends, a situation that has derailed the sustainability of most of these crucial institutions. While some state corporations have been known to consistently perform well, others have been noted to perennially underperform, over rely on the exchequer, and lose viability in equal measure. Organizational structure is an essential element of any organization. Numerous studies conducted by scholars illustrate that, it is one of the most significant organizational elements in facilitating and increasing innovation, service delivery and performance in organizations. The role of organizational structure however has not been adequately addressed as far as performance of the state corporations is concerned and this study therefore sought to fill the existing gaps by assessing the relationship between organization structure and the performance of state corporations. The study purposed to establish the influence of organizational structure on the performance of state corporations in Kenya. The study reviewed organizational structure as the independent variable and performance of the state corporations as the dependent variable. The study performed a theoretical review of Contingency theory and the New Public Management (NPM) theory. This was followed by an empirical review in tandem with the purpose of this study. It provided a review of scholarly works done in the past identifying the studies, authors, areas of investigation and the findings reported. The study adopted a descriptive research design with an exploratory approach to collect data from 189 state corporations in Kenya. The unit of analysis was all the state corporations in Kenya while the unit of observation was the Heads of Human Resources in each corporation. The study used a sample of 96 state corporations and collected primary data using a self-administered questionnaire. Documentary review was also used to compliment the data collected. To get the most efficient representation of the population the study adopted stratified sampling and Cochran’s (1977) formula was applied to calculate the sample size of 95 Heads of Human Resources departments. The data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. SPSS Version 26 was used. The study concluded that organizational structure had a significant and positive influence on the performance of state corporations in Kenya and recommended that most state corporations should consider leveraging and optimizing key aspects of organizational structure such as concentration of authority degree of bureaucracy and the span of management ratio.","PeriodicalId":434269,"journal":{"name":"European Business & Management","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123734325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
