Previous works have mainly concentrated on political preference or leadership; however, the business scenario is rather limited. Notably, a few studies have pointed to the subscale of transformational leadership, yet there is scant research to examine the full-dimensions of transformational leadership. Utilizing a large sample of 122 speakers and 122 evaluators, OpenSMILE was employed to extract the prosodic features, and Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis was used to analyze the data. With the SMO regression as the machine learning algorithm, the results indicated that fundamental frequency, speech intensity, and voicing probability influence various dimensions, including inspirational motivation, idealized influence, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. Fundamental frequency emerges as a pivotal predictor of highlighting the importance of conveying leadership qualities across multiple subscales of transformational leadership. The findings also suggested practical implications for further leadership development by vocal cues. Nevertheless, limitations include the predominantly student sample and the specific context, warranting further research on diverse populations and backgrounds. Future research could explore cross-cultural variations in leadership perceptions and extend analyses to transactional leadership. Overall, this research enriches our understanding of speech prosody in shaping perceptions of leadership and provides insights into the aspects of theory and practice.","PeriodicalId":43385,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Organizational Leadership","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2024-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141368927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Self-serving (Self-interested) leadership, particularly in the hotel business, emerges as a critical factor influencing employee performance and behavior. This study examines the intricate nexus between self-serving leadership and its impact on employee green behavior within the hospitality sector. This study undertakes a comprehensive analysis to explore not only the explicit influence of self-serving leadership on the environmentally conscious conduct of employees but also the potential moderating effect of the ethical climate within the organization on this association. In order to examine the direct and indirect hypothetical relationships among the main constructs, Mplus software was utilized. By analyzing a comprehensive sample of 370 employee questionnaires obtained from employees and teams of tourism hotels, this study investigates in depth the relationship between self-serving leadership, environmental responsibility, worker green behavior, and self-serving motivation. The empirical findings showed a significant negative relationship between self-serving leadership and employee green behavior, with environmental responsibility and self-interested motivation as intermediary factors. Moreover, the research emphasizes the critical significance of the ethical climate within the organization in reducing these impacts. This research contributes to the body of knowledge by suggesting that hotel managers foster environmental responsibility, reduce self-serving motivation, create an ethical environment that aligns with green practices and mitigate self-serving leadership styles to promote employee green behavior.","PeriodicalId":43385,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Organizational Leadership","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2024-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141001558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study further seeks to understand the mediating role of Functional Manager involvement (FM) and Stakeholder Engagement (SE) in the correlation between PM competencies and PS. Data were collected from 288 project team professionals operating in the healthcare sector in Pakistan. Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was employed to validate both direct and mediating effects. The utilization of PLS-SEM for data analysis enhances the robustness of the study’s outcomes. The findings revealed a significant influence of PM competencies on PS. Furthermore, the results affirmed that functional manager involvement serves as a mediator in the relationship between PM competencies and PS; however, the mediating effect of stakeholder engagement remains insignificant. This research significantly contributes to the field of healthcare project management. The identification of PM competencies as a substantial predictor of PS underlines the importance of skilled project management practices to achieve project outcomes successfully. Moreover, the exposure of functional manager involvement as a mediating variable between PM competencies and PS offers valuable insights into the organizational dynamics influencing PS. While the mediating effect of stakeholder engagement remains insignificant, this finding opens the avenues for further exploration in this domain. Overall, the study contributes to both theoretical advancements in project management literature and practical implications for project management specialists in the healthcare sector in Pakistan.","PeriodicalId":43385,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Organizational Leadership","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2024-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141003100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
