Although mask and vaccination are playing definite role in the prevention of disease but significant work is required in both novel diagnostics and therapeutics. Scientific community is globally working tirelessly to address this gap at the earliest. SARS-CoV-2 is closely related to beta coronavirus species and subspecies; therefore, the detection assays may generate the false-positive results if test are not specifically designed against SARS-CoV-2. Secondly, patient may develop a simultaneous co-infection with other virus. The Confirmation of the COVID-19 is by virus isolation followed by RT-PCR and sequencing. This led to newer classification scheme recently given by WHO to avoid geopolitical controversies and develop consensus. They present clinically as asymptomatic swelling of the cortical layer of jaw bones, producing a marked extraoral facial asymmetry. Fibrous dysplasia a developmental anomaly, wherein bone gets replaced by fibrous tissue, whereas ossifying fibroma, cemento-osseous dysplasia or familial gigantiform cementoma are either reactive or dysplastic change, derived from periodontal ligament, extraligamentary boneor remnants of cementum may create confusion to a clinician.Because of the presence of both bone and cementum-like products in ossifying fibromas, these lesions are designated as ossifying fibroma, cemento-ossifying fibroma, and cementifying fibroma. Fortunately ossifying fibromas are treated with surgical curettage with acceptable results. This paper is a humble attempt to present a case of Ossifying fibroma of maxilla which is otherwise common in mandible, and its esthetic outcome after the surgical treatment through Weber Fergusson’s approach and a review of literature.","PeriodicalId":433419,"journal":{"name":"National Medicos Organisation","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128163652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This global rise in the burden of fungal disease is a consequence of an increment in the population with weakened immune systems. Increased life expectancy with rise in conditions like diabetes mellitus, medical advancements with invasive interventions, use of steroid, wider uses of broad-spectrum antibiotics, immunosuppressive treatments for transplantation and autoimmune diseases, increased incidence of immune deficiency disease. Fungal infections of the paranasal sinuses are in fact a spectrum of diseases rather than one distinct entity. As such, there has been much published on the classification of fungal rhinosinusitis (FRS).Early classifications of FRS used the causative organism as the descriptor, i.e., aspergillosis, mucormycosis, etc. Rapid diagnosis and prompt treatment may save at least some of these patients. When fever with neutropenia and sinonasal symptoms are seen in patients with impaired immune function maintaining a high index of suspicion is essential, and the appropriate diagnostic work up should involve imaging studies and nasal endoscopy with a possible biopsy so as to initiate treatment in a timely manner.Clinical and histopathologic features of fungal rhinosinusitis are specific to each form, and criteria for diagnosis have been developed. This review of fungal sinus diseases summarizes invasive and noninvasive fungal rhinosinusitis forms but concentrates on AFS because of its high prevalence and the fundamental role the allergist-immunologist plays in its diagnosis and treatment.","PeriodicalId":433419,"journal":{"name":"National Medicos Organisation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134065697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Neurological manifestations of COVID-19 assume great importance because of considerable mortality and morbidity both during the disease and recovery. The following review aims to shed light on impact of COVID -19 on neurological system. Common neurological manifestations have been described. With more people surviving the disease, post-COVID syndrome has become a prominent ailment. A note is also made of the impact introduction of vaccines for COVID-19. Finally, the epidemic of ―black fungus‖ or Mucormycosis has also been touched upon. Neurological manifestations: The most important neurological manifestations are stroke, encephalitis, encephalopathy and myelitis on the central nervous system and Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) and chronic muscle fatigues on the peripheral nervous system. Impact of second wave of COVID: The second wave of COVID has been particularly tragic for India because of the rapid spread which pressurized the health system and resources. With a record number of patients infected in this wave, patients with neurological symptoms have also increased. We must also be prepared for patients with Post-COVID Neurological Syndrome (PCNS). Vaccine associated adverse effects have also assumed importance.","PeriodicalId":433419,"journal":{"name":"National Medicos Organisation","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131886609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Globally, till 11th June 2021, there have been 174,502,686 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 3,770,361 deaths, reported to WHO. Universal implementation of corona etiquettes, vaccination, extensive diagnosis of COVID 19 by RTPCR and enhancement of prognostic and therapeutic facilities decreases the new cases over 3 million and over 73 000 new deaths (2). Despite differences among countries, the overall in-hospital mortality is high, being reported up to 30% [3].The reasons underlying such a different clinical behavior are still unknown; thus, it is difficult to predict who will develop a severe clinical picture and who, conversely, will show a mild disease. Blood cell count is a simple, highly informative, and universally available laboratory test. Furthermore, preliminary reports suggest that blood cell count is valuable tool for clinical risk stratification [4 6].","PeriodicalId":433419,"journal":{"name":"National Medicos Organisation","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128400571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
