The scientific novelty of the paper lies in examining linguistic markers of the category of dialogue peculiar to the business language of the 18th century and to N. A. Demidov as a linguistic personality. As a result of analysing the form of documents sent to higher authorities, it has been determined that the category of dialogue is represented even in the initial block of the letter – in the document requisites “sender” and “recipient”, whereas in letters sent to lower authorities, the requisite “sender” is contained within the requisite “recipient”. In the main part of the analysed documents and letters, the category of dialogue is represented by core markers: interrogative, imperative and negative constructions, references to documents initiating business communication (new speech subjects) presented in the form of indirect speech using the subjective particles де and якобы that indicate the unreliability of the information provided. In the business correspondence sent to lower authorities represented by a collective subject or a specific individual, N. A. Deuteronomy…” by I. G. Tinin, the research aims to characterise the author as a linguistic personality. The paper utilises the model of organisation and description of a linguistic personality proposed by Yu. N. Karaulov to examine the linguistic means that reveal the structural-linguistic, linguo-cognitive and pragmatic levels of I. G. Tinin’s personality. The research is novel in that it is the first to use the memoirs of a person who was born and formed in the environment of the Russian white émigré community, in the traditions of noble Russia, participated in World War II, lived in the post-war Soviet and post-Soviet country and was known in Volgograd and the Volgograd region as a cultural figure, educator as the research material. As a result, the researcher finds that the author masters the entire stylistic palette of the Russian literary language, he is familiar with non-literary forms of the common language and has knowledge of foreign languages. The use of stylistically marked forms, foreign expressions is determined by the speech situation, the author’s goals and objectives. The study highlights the author’s interest in and attention to language, the use of its expressive resources, the utilisation of stylistic devices, word play, a variety of precedent names that are significant for Russian and world culture, which indicates the author’s broad outlook, his system of views and a complex and rich worldview. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that to solve such a problem, an interdisciplinary approach is used, taking into account the latest achievements of applied and mathematical linguistics and information security, with the involvement of the current regulatory framework. In the course of the work, according to the proposed graphical model, textual research material of ca. 1.5 MB was collected using the Web Scraper plug-in; a text data bank of short electronic messages was generated, converted into a CSV format suitable for further processing; a basic analysis of this data bank was carried out using PolyAnalyst free software package, which included such procedures as the extraction of terms, entities and keywords, sentiment analysis and determination of the subject matter of texts. The study utilises modern methods of linguistic analysis and lexicographic construction. The scientific novelty of the research lies in creating a model for a comprehensive dictionary description of canonical proverbs, their transformations and neoparemiological units. The innovative lexicographic concept involves combining the thematic-axiological and the alphabetical-headword principles for systematising the material. It is the first time that the potential of functionally-semantic dictionary parametrisation of individually-authored transformations of proverbs and new proverbs is realised. The dictionary meanings of the culturonyms “казак” and “Cossack” and the functional peculiarities of the idionym “казак” and the xenonym “Cossack” in Russian and British mass-media discourse have been compared. The scientific novelty of the study lies in providing a comprehensive description of the denotative and connotative semantics of the culturonyms “казак” and “Cossack”, as well as in identifying the inner relations within idio-xenonymic sets as representing emotive and evaluative enantiosemy, ideological profuseness and the stereotypisation of the xenonymic semantics. As a result, the seme taxonomy of the units “казак” and “Cossack” has been defined. The enantiosemy of the idio-xenonymic set “казак – Cossack” has been revealed, it demonstrates positive evaluation of the idionym within the source linguistic culture and negative evaluation of the xenonym within the receptor linguistic culture. The scientific novelty of the study lies in describing the specificity of the semantic structure of ancient colour terms through the history of not the main colour names, but rather the colour names that are “peripheral” from a modern perspective, namely, броный (derived from the Common Slavic *bronъ) and половый (derived from the Common Slavic *polvъ). The semantic features of the Common Slavic colour terms *bronъ and *polvъ, as well as their Indo-European proto-forms and Old Russian derivatives were identified through component analysis. As a result, it has been found that the evolution of the semantics of these Common Slavic colour terms is characterised by the absence of the initial semantic connection with the reference object, the presence of a semantic connection with light or its absence and the syncretism of the denoted colour tone. Thus, it has been revealed that the Common Slavic lexemes *bronъ and *polvъ were more likely to be names for colouration rather than colour itself. The study is novel in that it is the first to reveal the solutions related to the changes made in the canon as exemplified by the pronoun class in early Spanish grammars. Such issues as the place of this class of words in the system of parts of speech, its status and boundaries, the criteria for singling out pronouns, their types, the nomenclature of their accidents, as well as the peculiarities of exemplification reflected in the description of different pronoun types are under consideration. As a result of the study, it has been found that the canonical representation of pronouns as “substitutes for names” has received different interpretations concerning the possibility of “substituting” different classes of names. It is shown that the question of external and internal boundaries of the pronoun class is one of the most debatable within the Golden Age tradition. Chekhov’s short stories within the framework of formation of a value-semantic model of their English-language translations. The article presents a comprehensive comparative study of the elements that reflect the notion of “encasement” on the basis of A. Chekhov’s short story “The Man in a Case” and some other short stories by the author, as well as their translations into English. The scientific novelty of the research consists in considering the ways of verbal representation in translation of lexical-semantic units of the text thematically grouped according to various aspects of the reflection of “encasement” in the framework of value-semantic modelling of translation. As a result, it has been shown that the archiseme “case” becomes the core of the artistic idea, and the lexemes that convey the notion of “encasement” become the point attractors of the meanings, forming the main value-semantic model that appears in a number of the writer’s works.
