The transformation of the teaching-learning practices to the e-learning environment has received significant interests for researchers to understand, examine and evaluate the role of the information and communication technologies in the field. However, while there seem to be a large number of studies in the area, there still seem to be a lack of focus and findings on the motivation factors and the role of cognitive style that lead to its use among lecturers. Therefore, using a survey, we attempt to investigate the factors that motivate academics to use e-learning system and to examine whether there is a significant difference in the use between different cognitive styles. Findings of the study suggest top management emphasis, facilitating conditions and system quality are the factors that motivate academics to use the system. In addition, there is also a different in the use level between the two groups of cognitive style; innovators and adaptors. Based on the findings, implication for future research is offered.","PeriodicalId":432800,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of the 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technology for the Moslem World (ICT4M) 2010","volume":"40 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114045193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The decision to automate public sector business processes is seen among others as a mean to improve transparency and service performance. However, despite the anticipated benefits, there still seem to be lack of research findings that have discussed on the values obtained from the use of the G2B system. Therefore, driven by the limited research understanding in the area, this study was undertaken to evaluate the values derived from the G2B system, measured as process efficiency, information quality, transparency and service performance among Malaysian federal government agencies. The findings suggest the G2B system has indeed given significant evidences to the value achievement. Based on the findings, implication for future research is offered.","PeriodicalId":432800,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of the 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technology for the Moslem World (ICT4M) 2010","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117044103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is especially the case among university students who are generally regarded as major violators of computer ethics and computer security. This paper follows previous work on computer security and ethics. The paper intend to examine the level of ethical and security awareness among IT and education students. The findings of this study reveals that there are satisfactory levels of awareness among the students surveyed with slightly higher level of awareness among IT students, most likely due to security and ethics courses they offered. Also, the findings indicate that gender-wise male students reported higher level of computer security and ethics violations than their female counterparts. The paper concludes that female students are more conscious of security and ethics while using computer (e.g. Internet) than the male students. Furthermore, IT students were found to be more aware of internet security & ethics, but largely ignore this knowledge and are more engaged in unethical activities and illegal internet practices when compared with Education students.","PeriodicalId":432800,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of the 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technology for the Moslem World (ICT4M) 2010","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127303440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, if we are able to identify their behavior, it may be possible for us to detect driving idiosyncrasies that may prevent accidents. Therefore, this paper presents some simple and effective methods for an in-car data acquisition in collecting real time driving data. The data has been classified into three different driver's condition which leads into accident. They are happy expression, talking on the phone and normal driving. These data will be used to investigate the effectiveness of a driver's behavior which focusing on the driver's response towards the brake and gas pedals as well as its rate of change. From these data we will demonstrate simple yet effective technique in driver identification and driver verification. We use the kernel density estimation (KDE) as tools to extract features. Then, we use these features to recognize the emotion of the driver by using multi layer perceptron (MLP) as classifiers. The enhancement of driver's security, safety and comfort driving can be derived trough the performances of the driver's emotion verification which contribute to the development in the area of intelligent vehicle driver verification system.","PeriodicalId":432800,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of the 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technology for the Moslem World (ICT4M) 2010","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133555237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is that users are willing to share their personal data with their acquaintances, but most of the time, they lack experience and knowledge to protect themselves from theft and exploitation. Additionally, in the spirit of pervasive computing, user is mobile, often using public terminals, with no personalized configuration available and no guaranty that the environment is secured. Ensuring that every individual is who they claim to be is the basis and starting point for authorization, non-repudiation, as well as confidentiality and integrity of data transmitted. Solution is the usage of already popular mobile phone, benefiting from SIM card's tamper resistance to become trusted entity guarding personal information and identifying each user. Utilizing the PC interface, mobile phone passes the personal user keys only when needed, giving additional strength to the traditional public key cryptography approach in terms of security and portability.","PeriodicalId":432800,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of the 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technology for the Moslem World (ICT4M) 2010","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114790393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous findings have shown that there are differences between autistic children and normal children when performing a simple motor movement tasks. Imitating a finger tapping and clinching a hand are two examples of a simple motor movement tasks. Our study had adopted one of the video stimuli for clinching the hand from Brainmarkers. 6 selected autistic children and 6 selected normal children were involved in this study. The data collection is using EEG device and will be analyzed using Gaussian mixture model (GMM) and Multilayer perceptron (MLP) as classifier to discriminate between autistic and normal children. Experimental result shows the potential of verifying between autistic and normal children with accuracy of 92%. The potential of using these techniques to identify autistic children can help early detection for the purpose of early intervention. Moreover, the spectrums of the signals also present big differences between the two groups.","PeriodicalId":432800,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of the 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technology for the Moslem World (ICT4M) 2010","volume":"313 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122698117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are easily attracted to displayed images and icons rather than numbers. Therefore, in any evaluation with children, it is better to avoid the use of numerical scaling towards them. For this study is concern on the method used when evaluating with children, this study promotes the use of linguistic expressions as a method in the evaluation process. Linguistic expressions are applicable to children where expressions are much likeable by children than numerical scaling. Evaluation of the linguistic expression is applied during the interviews, questions and answers session with the children. The children websites was chosen in the evaluation because websites technology has becoming more permeable towards children nowadays. Websites are important to children as a medium to provide education learning and entertainment. Despite that, children websites in Malaysia seems to be limited. It is rare enough to find Malaysian based websites for children in the search engine. Hence, this study investigates the current status of Malaysian's children website and their design and content characteristics as well as proposing the method of fuzzy computing with expressions in the evaluation process. In the near future, this study perhaps will initiate Malaysian websites developer to create more children websites in this country.","PeriodicalId":432800,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of the 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technology for the Moslem World (ICT4M) 2010","volume":"161 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115997992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
