Se edifico entre 1780 y 1785, segun proyecto del arquitecto diocesano Jose Alvarez. En este articulo se dan noticias de los dos templos anteriores y de su barrio. En primer lugar, se erigio una ermita en el siglo XIII, que debio estar fortificada por hallarse a extramuros. A comienzos del siglo XVII, se edifico una iglesia de estilo manierista, en la que intervinieron los arquitectos Asensio de Maeda y Miguel de Zumarraga. Se derribo en 1780 para edificarse el templo actual, de mayores proporciones, incorporando el solar de unas casas EnglishThe current San Bernardo Temple marks the transition between Baroque and Neoclassical architecture in the city of Seville. It was built between 1780 and 1785, according to the project of the diocesan architect Jose Alvarez. This paper gives news of the two previous temples and their neighborhood. First, a hermitage was erected in the 13th century, which should have been fortified, because it was located outside the city walls. At the beginning of the 17th century, a Mannerist style church was built, in which the architects Asensio de Maeda and Miguel de Zumarraga took part. Aunque solo se han conservado las condiciones contractuales de la obra, resulta un testimonio de interes en el panorama pictorico de caracter civil de la primera mitad del siglo XVI hispalense, del que apenas han quedado restos, y viene a incidir en el papel fundamental que jugo la familia Enriquez de Ribera en el patrocinio artistico del periodo EnglishThis paper documents a mural painting project signed in 1540 by the painter Diego Rodriguez for Dona Ines Portocarrero, destined for her main “casas” in the San Juan de la Palma neighborhood, known today as Las Duenas Palace. El presente articulo pretende rechazar dicha atribucion y formular otra a favor del maestro vallisoletano Pedro de Avila, a quien a todas luces corresponde su paternidad dada la completa semejanza con su estilo EnglishIn the middle of the year 2017, a good sculpture of Saint Mary Magdalene was published by an exhibition held at Isbilya Subastas (Seville). It was attributed to the sublime Granadan sculptor Jose de Mora. The current paper aims to reject such attribution as well as indicating another one in favour of the Vallisoletano master Pedro de Avila.
