It is suspected that some personality traits, cognitive domains, and efficacy have some effects on individual decision-making. Such awareness is expected to help technical trainees establish improved decision-making styles later that could have a positive professional impact. The aim of this study is to identify the domain of personality traits, rationality tendencies, self-efficacy and the combination of predictors that affect the decision-making style of trainees in technical training institutions. This study was conducted using survey quantitative design as the data collection tool. A population of 740 full-time trainees in electrical engineering from eight public technical training institutes were selected and 591were identified using stratified random sampling technique.Data was collected using the Big Five Inventory (BFI), Rational-Experiential Inventory (REI), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and Maximization Scale. Based on multiple regression analysis, it is concluded that self-efficacy is the strongest predictor affecting decision-making styles among trainees at technical training institutions, as opposed to rationality, personality traits or a combination of predictors. This implies that self-efficacy has a profound effecton decision-making style. It could lead the trainee to make decisions based on his own experiences, rather than abiding safety rules and standard operating procedures. The trainees should realize decisions solely based on past convictions and experiences could cause detrimental effects on employers and themselves.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43136895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is an applied study in orientation, a hypothesis-testing study in goal, and a comparative causal study in strategy. Data were collected with a researcher-made questionnaire. The statistical population was composed of all trainers and trainees of the agricultural vocational schools in the 2020-2021 educational year amounting to 1119 trainees and 120 trainers, out of whom 169 trainees were sampled by simple randomisation and 120 trainers were sampled by the consensus method to participate in the research. The data were analysed in the Smart PLS3 and SPSS version 23 software packages. In addition to the descriptive statistics, the construct validity and the fit of the model were determined by confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. The management process, the educational process, curriculum content, technical teacher training, and the supply of space, equipment, and technology have positive and significant effects on the empowerment of the educational system at the agricultural vocational schools in both the trainers and trainees’ groups. The empowerment of the educational system at agricultural vocational schools is effective in achieving quality assurance in the educational system and subsequently, improving its quality continuously. This paper contributes to developing a theoretical framework by considering the dimensions and components underpinning an empowering educational system. This study is the first attempt to compare the perspective of trainers and trainees about an empowering educational system in agricultural vocational schools. The study provides a framework in which special attention is paid to the empowerment of the educational system at these schools so that the managers and trainers can work with more authority and play a role in improving the educational system of the agricultural vocational schools.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43959134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Against this background, the present study explores the interplay between work self-efficacy and work engagement of vocational business education (VBE) lecturers in public universities. The study adopted a quantitative approach and a survey research design. Data were collected from 139 lecturers in 12 public universities in Nigeria using a structured questionnaire. Pearson correlation coefficient and simple linear regression with a bootstrap bias-correction technique were used to analyse the data collected. The results show that work self-efficacy is positively and significantly correlated with the work engagement (cognitive, emotional,and physical) dimensions of VBE lecturers. Further analysis indicates that work self-efficacy is positively and significantly associated with the aggregate work engagement of VBE lecturers. The findings suggest that work self-efficacy helps foster a high cognitive, emotional, and physical engagement among VBE lecturers in public universities. The findings offer a major practical implication for lecturers and administrators, which suggests that VBE lecturers that are highly resourceful (i.e. self-efficacious) have the motivational potential to experience high engagement and, in turn, perform better on the job.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41625994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to continue the investigation on revealing the effectiveness of the model in improving the students’ 4Cs skills. It is driven by educational needs in this 21st century which requires vocational students to have those skills to adapt to the complexities of the real industry. This study was conducted by using a quasi-experimental method. The potential of the students’ region-based project was implemented to an experimental group; meanwhile, the free theme-based project was administered to a control group. Upon completion of the assessment, each student's 4Cs skill in the experimental group had higher scores than those of the control group. Overall, after being analysed by using ANCOVA, there were significant differences found between the 4Cs skills scores of the experimental group and those of the control group. Therefore, it can be concluded that the project which is based on the potential of the students’ region is more effective in improving the 4Cs skills of vocational students in higher education than the free theme based-project is. The syntaxes of the project based on the potential of students’ region explained here can be a reference for teachers and lecturers in implementing it. In addition, as it is being developed, it can also inspire and be a reference for other researches focusing their study in the learning quality development at vocational education.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41833744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The teaching profession demands that teachers constantly strive to improve the quality of their professionalism to become competent and quality teachers. In addition, TVET teachers must be prepared to withstand the technological boom in the industrial revolution 4.0 digital era to keep them in line with 21st-century learning. Thus, the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework is designed to meet the competencies that TVET teachers need. The primary purpose of this study was to assess the factors that influence the TPACK competency of TVETTeachers. Furthermore, to determine the relationship between mentoring role, school environment, and TVET teacher’s competencies. A total of 400 TVET teachers from two categories of TVET-related institutions under the Malaysian Education TVET division were selected as the study’s sample: vocational education upper secondary stream (PVMA) from National Secondary School (SS) and Vocational College (VC). Data were analyzedusing a t-test, correlation, and multiple linear regression. The findings revealed significant differences in the level of technological knowledge competency between the two school categories. The role of mentoring and the school environment is also significantly related to the TPACK competency of TVET teachers. Meanwhile, the school environment predicts a change in the TPACK teachers' competency for TVET teachers in Peninsular Malaysia. Therefore, the study discovers the role of mentoring role and school environment in determining new factors influencing TVET teachers’ TPACK competency. Forfurther research, it is recommended to study the mentoring role in mediating the relationship between the school environment and TVET teachers’ TPACK competency.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43608090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, various theories and research studies reveal the role of digital literacy, interest in entrepreneurship and self-efficacy in shaping entrepreneurial personality. This study aims to examine the significant effect of digital literacy, interest in entrepreneurship, and self-efficacy on the entrepreneurial personality of vocational education students. In addition, self-efficacy was also tested as a mediator of the indirect influence of digital literacy and interest in entrepreneurship on entrepreneurial personality. Ex-post facto research with structural quantitative data approaches to examine as many as 597 vocational education students in the Province of Yogyakarta-Indonesia. Data collection was assisted using a closed questionnaire with a four Likert scale which had been tested for validity and reliability. Structural Equation Modeling is used to analyze the data through path analysis and bootstrap methods. The results of the path analysis show that digital literacy, interest in entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurial self-efficacy have a significant effect on entrepreneurial personality. In addition, a structural model that uses a mediator of entrepreneurial self-efficacy has also been tested significantly through bootstrap analysis with a confidence interval of 97.5%. Therefore, these results strengthen the theory that in shaping an entrepreneurial personality, digital technology literacy, interest in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial self-efficacy are needed, so vocational education must strengthen these aspects.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46008496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Equally important, TVET also makes a major contribution to the agriculture field. However, there are myriad issues that cause limited knowledge and skills for agricultural graduates, and these include butare not limited to the lack of resources, equipment, and infrastructure. The case study approach allows the in-depth collection of data through interviews and the observation of complex issues in their real-life settings. The research participants were purposefully and conveniently sampled due to their experience in agricultural programmes. The findings were presented using thematic analysis based on Mitzel's model which covers practical knowledge and skills, teaching skills, teaching styles, and personality traits. According to the study's findings, the lack of resources, equipment, and infrastructure restricted a lecturer's capacity to release their practical knowledge and skills, their teaching skills, teaching styles, and their personality factors when teaching agricultural programmes. The recommendation advises allocating the TVET colleges with adequate resources, equipment, and infrastructure to facilitate agricultural knowledge and skills.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42029914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
