Energy auditing, both the thermal energy auditing and electrical energy auditing is a usual procedure in an educational institution. Most of the commercial building in India, were not constructed by following the standard energy conservation code. Recent studies in the field shows that, commercial building in India have an energy saving potential of 25% to 35%. The energy consumption survey investigates the major consuming energy source. The energy audit is used to investigate the weak points of the institute energy-usage system and to build up energy-saving responsibility. The energy audit reveals that the institute consumes a monthly average electrical energy of 10MWh and having a energy saving potential of 10%. This paper outlines some of the options that energy auditor can consider while conducting an audit in an institute. This paper set forth some energy saving methods in a methodological approach, experienced during an energy audit in an institution.","PeriodicalId":431894,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Circuit, Power and Computing Technologies (ICCPCT)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132783401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve the performance of PV devices in such cases, design of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) function is more important. In addition to it, in DC grid connected applications of PV system, the grid voltage fluctuates due to load disturbances, so a voltage controller is needed to maintain stable dc output. The aim of this work is to develop a hybrid controller for PV based DC-DC boost converter in DC grid connected applications. The hybrid controller proposed here consists of MPPT controller and a voltage regulator. The MPPT controller uses random search method to track the global maximum power point and voltage regulating action is performed by using PID controller, which is used to maintain stable dc output irrespective of grid fluctuations. In the proposed system, the output of PV array fed DC-DC boost converter B1 is connected to boost converter B2 whose output is fed to DC grid. While boost converter B1 will take care of MPPT, the other will function as voltage regulator thus meeting dual requirement of both MPPT and voltage regulation of DC bus with the help of independent duty ratio control of DC-DC boost converters. Modeling and simulation of proposed system is performed in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. The results presented show that the controller for the individual DC-DC boost converters are able to maintain the desired DC link voltage apart from harvesting maximum power from the solar PV irrespective of variation in the insolation at the input and load variation.","PeriodicalId":431894,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Circuit, Power and Computing Technologies (ICCPCT)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131840845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scaling affect the device performance due to constraints like heat dissipation and power consumption [3], further scaling would hit the physical limitation [16]. Effortshave been made to come up with the new device alternative to CMOS, to continually improve the development of electronic device. Quantum Dot Cellular Automata (QCA) technology is one such promising alternative, that can overcome the scaling issue and offer fast computation performance, high density, and low power consumption. Another emerging technology that can help in reducing heat dissipation is reversible logic. This paper proposes the idea of implementing reversible combinational circuits and square computation circuits using QCA architecture. The designs are captured and simulated using QCA Designer software, performance of each designs namely area and energy are compared for conventional and Reversible QCA design.","PeriodicalId":431894,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Circuit, Power and Computing Technologies (ICCPCT)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134079329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Text and content based image retrieval are the common methods in existence. Though it made lot of changes, retrieving human expressions is challenging one for the recent researchers. We introducing a new technique called Ratio of Sum to Centre and Maximum pixel (RSCM) feature which leads to communicate with machines via facial expressions. In the proposed system, first the images in the database get pre-processed and this image can be given to the gabor filter to segment the image as the gabor wavelet blocks. The output of the gabor filter given to the RSCM feature extraction algorithm to extract various expression based features from the image and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) will train the features. Eventually, the comparative analysis performed using the commonly used methods namely precision and recall were clearly shown that the proposed system provide better results than the conventional systems and retrieve the images based upon the expression.","PeriodicalId":431894,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Circuit, Power and Computing Technologies (ICCPCT)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134633789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identifying the activities of human from videos and predicting their activity class label is the key functionality of Human Activity Recognition system. In general the major issues of Human activity recognition system is to identify the activities with or without the concurrent movement of body parts, occlusion, incremental learning etc. Among these issues the major difficulty lies in detecting the activity of human performing the interactions with or without the concurrent movement of their body parts. This paper aims in resolving the aforementioned problem. Here, the frames are extracted from the videos using the conventional frame extraction techniques. A pixel-based Local Binary Similarity Pattern background subtraction algorithm is used to detect the foreground from the extracted frames. The features are extracted from the detected foreground using Histogram of oriented Gradients and pyramidal feature extraction technique. A 20-point Microsoft human kinematic model is constructed using the set of features present in the frame and supervised temporal-stochastic neighbor embedding is applied to transform a high dimensional data to a low dimensional data. K-means clustering is then applied to produce a bag of key poses. The classifier Constrained Weighted Dynamic Time Warping(CWDTW) is used for the final generation of activity class label. Experimental results show the higher recognition rate achieved for various interactions with the benchmarking datasets such as Kinect Interaction dataset and Gaming dataset.","PeriodicalId":431894,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Circuit, Power and Computing Technologies (ICCPCT)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133212250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Non-stationary power quality event signals are appraised as the superimposition of various oscillating modes, and WT is used to distant out the decomposition and approximation coefficients. In this approach, the distinctive features of PQ event signals have been acquired by applying the HT on all the decomposed levels and in order to analysis the performance of the proposed method on noisy conditions, three types of PQ event data sets are constructed by accumulating noise of 25, 35 and 45 dB. ELM is an efficient learning algorithm for generalized single hidden layer feedforward networks (SLFNs), which is implemented to recognizing the various PQEs. Based on very high performance under ideal and noisy conditions, the proposed WHT-ELM method has robust recognition structure that can be used in real power systems.","PeriodicalId":431894,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Circuit, Power and Computing Technologies (ICCPCT)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133331198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is affected by impulsive noise, as this type of noise highly depends on physical environment. Though adaptive filters are widely used for noise cancellation, still it requires robust parameter for all type of noise. In this paper, an attempt is taken for reduction of impulsive noise. Initially, the popular LMS algorithm is used for comparison and extends towards Fx-LMS. It shows significant result, but becomes unstable the due to the second order moment does not exist for Gaussian process. Further it has been analyzed with NLMS and the norm is exploited. It is found that WLMS algorithm performs better than all the above algorithms and also robust for impulsive noise. The results show its comparison performance.","PeriodicalId":431894,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Circuit, Power and Computing Technologies (ICCPCT)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113957625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
