In the present study, participants were assessed with the MOGQ, the nine-item Internet Gaming Disorder Scale- Short Form (IGDS9-SF), and the Electronic Gaming Motives Questionnaire (EGMQ). The mean age and age at first gaming were lower and the socio-demographic factors such as male gender, living alone, having a game console, gaming more than usual in weekends, time spent on the gaming, having problems related with gaming, severity of IGD symptoms, and severity of online gaming motives were higher among the group of gamers than those in the group of students. Confirmatory factor analyses demonstrated that the six-factor structure (i.e., the dimensional structure) of the MOGQ was satisfactory for the Turkish version. The scale was also reliable (i.e., internally consistent with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.91 for coping/escape, 0.92 for recreation, 0.88 for fantasy, 0.91 for skill development, 0.87 for social, and 0.89 for competition) and showed adequate convergent and criterion-related validity, as indicated by statistically significant positive correlations with average time daily spent playing games during last year, IGDS9-SF, and EGMQ scores. These findings support the Turkish version of the MOGQ as a valid and reliable tool for determining the motives for online gaming among young adults.","PeriodicalId":43188,"journal":{"name":"Addicta-The Turkish Journal on Addictions","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2020-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49092645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Email:Tugba_ Gorgulu@URMC.Rochester.edu Öz Madde kullanım davranışı, önlenmesi ve müdahale edilmesi gereken önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. Bu sorunla mücadele edebilmek için madde kullanım davranışına yol açan risk faktörlerinin ve madde kullanım davranışının neden olduğu biyopsikososyal sorunların belirlenmesi önemlidir. Bu bağlamda bu çalışmanın amacı, bireylerin madde kullanmaya ilişkin deneyimleri üzerinden, kendilerini madde kullanmaya iten faktörleri ve madde kullanmaya başladıktan sonra yaşadıkları biyopsikososyal sorunları nitel araştırma yöntemiyle belirlemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda madde bağımlılığı grup çalışmasına katılmış ve ölçüt örnekleme tekniğiyle seçilmiş olan 50 erkek katılımcıya “madde kullanım davranışlarına ilişkin deneyimleri, madde kullanmaya başlama nedenleri, hangi faktörlerin kendilerini madde kullanmaya ittiği” ve “madde kullanmaya başladıktan sonra hayatlarında gerçekleşen olumlu ya da olumsuz durumların neler olduğu” sorulmuştur. Katılımcı ifadelerine uygulanan içerik analizi sonuçları, aile sistemi, adölesan dönem, akran ve arkadaş etkisi, stres ve baş etme mekanizmasında zayıflık, önemli bir kişinin kaybı ve yas, madde kullanım davranışının yaygın olduğu sosyal bir çevrede yaşama, maddeye ulaşabilirlik ve merak duygusu faktörlerinin bireyi madde kullanmaya iten başat risk faktörleri olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca bireylerin, madde kullanmaya başladıktan sonra akademik veya iş yaşantılarına ilişkin problemler, ailevi sorunları, sosyal dışlanma, depresyon, hatta intihar girişimi gibi farklı psikososyal problemlerle baş etmek zorunda kaldıkları saptanmıştır. Bu bulgular göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, madde kullanım davranışının önlenmesine yönelik stratejiler belirlenirken söz konusu risk faktörlerinin ve yol açtığı sorunların dikkate alınmasının, müdahale ve rehabilitasyon çalışmalarının bütüncül bir bakış açısıyla planlanması ve uygulanması bakımından önemli olduğu düşünülmektedir.","PeriodicalId":43188,"journal":{"name":"Addicta-The Turkish Journal on Addictions","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2019-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49158850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Email: oasischeng@yahoo.com Abstract With an increasing population experiencing tobacco dependence, an enormous public health medical cost has been induced due to first-hand, second-hand, and third-hand smoking. A variety of instruments are available to aid in smoking cessation, including standard and adjunct therapies, for which acupuncture constitutes a safe and economic measure. Offering an overview of this traditional Chinese medicine practice, this literature review analyses 27 clinical studies, covering 15,794 participants aged 15-84 years old from Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. The outcomes reveal the effectiveness of acupuncture in minimising cigarette cravings, tobacco consumption, and nicotine dependence, through either a single employment of this method or a combined treatment method. Suggestions for research and practical implications to improve the usefulness of acupuncture in dealing with smoking-related health are given.","PeriodicalId":43188,"journal":{"name":"Addicta-The Turkish Journal on Addictions","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2019-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42250768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
