Enterprises strive to continuously improve their business continuity program by testing business continuity plans to ensure optimum productivity and resiliency. However, usually observations recorded from drills' activities are not addressed effectively and in timely manner. Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) processes should be aligned together to reduce the time to address recorded observations. This paper illustrates a new implemented approach by aligning BCM and ERM processes. The alignment is based on extended collaboration. For example, risk register should be designed and shared collaboratively with business continuity practitioners to ensure defining accurate risks mitigation plans and controls for all drills' scenarios as well. Both processes practitioners shall work closely in conducting Business Impact Analysis and Risk Assessments (BIA/RA) and measure the impact of IT services' disruptions. Moreover, ERM practitioners should be involved in all BCM activities to detect areas of improvement and measure the effectiveness of developed plans and controls. Once observations are recorded from business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) drills and compliances, they should be presented to a joint steering committee, prioritized based on severity and then transferred to the enterprise risk register. Both processes should operate side by side toward robust IT operations. This practice has been proven to be very practical and effective to reduce business overall risks and overdue observations.","PeriodicalId":430931,"journal":{"name":"2019 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120951071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has several implications because the impacts of disruptions, and the complexity and interdependence of systems, are rapidly increasing. Hence, we face a challenge in how to assess resilience of infrastructure systems in these urban areas. This issue has significant impact on infrastructure systems design and development. The aims of this study were to: (1) apply a framework for modeling interdependencies between infrastructure systems, businesses and households to a certain urban area; (2) develop a suite of disruption scenarios for the model; and (3) to devise a metric for resilience of infrastructure systems in an urban area that could be derived from the simulation model. Our study resulted in an application of a model that mimics infrastructure systems, businesses, and households in an urban area. Subsequently, a metric for resilience of infrastructure systems was proposed and applied. The metric - supply-at-risk - was shown to be useful in comparing developments to infrastructure systems in terms of resilience. Our simulation experiment has shown that the supply-at-risk curve moves down after beneficial change is made to the system. We concluded that the supply-at-risk is a useful metric for resilience assessment allowing comparison of various infrastructure developments. Ideas for future research were also identified centered around assessing the metric under a wider range of disruptions and modifications to infrastructure systems.","PeriodicalId":430931,"journal":{"name":"2019 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128042166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors of intellectual work, including software developers, often do not receive appropriate remuneration for their work. At the same time, it is also not always easy for the users to examine the way the product has been developed and the quality of the product. The aim of this work is to develop a software transfer model based on the blockchain technology. This research is based on the analysis of research literature with an aim to assess profoundly the opportunities and prospects for the use of blockchain, a method of analysing individual components and a synthesis method that connects its elements and relations in a uniform system.","PeriodicalId":430931,"journal":{"name":"2019 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134386828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our approach of health monitoring is to combine observations of the system with physical modeling. Information is extracted from complex observations by statistical learning. The study of this raw information can give first insights in the problem. To go further, the physical knowledge about the system is required. The modeling of the system components implements the physical knowledge we have of the system. Inversing this model enables the identification of the parameters responsible for the degradation. Model inversion is realized by bayesian inference. The evolution over time of the system parameters undergoing degradation enables precise diagnoses and the set up of predictive maintenance operations.","PeriodicalId":430931,"journal":{"name":"2019 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131743335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such connected and collaborating autonomous machines can be seen as a system-of-systems. It is not yet clear how to consider safety during the development of such system-of-systems (SoS). One potentially useful approach to analyze the safety for complex systems is the System Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA). However, STPA is essentially suitable to static monolithic systems and lacks the ability to deal with emergent and dysfunctional behaviors in the case of SoS. These behaviors if not identified could potentially lead to hazards and it is important to provide mechanisms for SoS developers/integrators to capture such critical situations. In this paper, we present an approach for enriching STPA to provide the ability to check whether the distributed constituent systems of a SoS have a consistent perspective of the global state which is necessary to ensure safety. In other words, these checks must be capable at least to identify and highlight inconsistencies that can lead to critical situations. We describe the above approach by taking a specific case of state change related issues that could potentially be missed by STPA by looking at an industrial case. By applying Petri nets, we show that possible critical situations related to state changes are not identified by STPA. In this context we also propose a model-based extension to STPA and show how our new process could function in tandem with STPA.","PeriodicalId":430931,"journal":{"name":"2019 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133050561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Correctly establishing its distribution is an important prerequisite for the preparation of CNC machine tool cutting force spectrum and the reliability design of CNC machine tools. In this paper, the cutting force data of the CNC lathe under light, medium and heavy load conditions were obtained by the actual cutting test. The cutting force was sampled by the Block Maximum Method (BMM), and the sample was distributed by the generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution. The chi-square test was utilized to test the goodness of the fitted GEV distribution, and then, the optimal number of blocks in BMM model was determined by comparing values of chi-square test. At last the optimal distribution function of the extreme values was obtained. A reliable distribution model of extreme value for the extrapolation of cutting force extremes and establishment of cutting force spectra is provided in this paper.","PeriodicalId":430931,"journal":{"name":"2019 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124153884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, some steps in the recycling process may pose a risk to human health. Oxides that remain in the open area for a long time due to the inability to storage threaten the environment and toxic wastes may spread to the environment due to human or software-related errors that may occur on machines. Therefore, system reliability is essential for the correct operation in recycling facilities. In this study, interval type-2 fuzzy numbers are evaluated for system reliability of recycling facilities. Using the performance and reliability indexes created with fuzzy expressions, the reliability level of the system and priority problems affecting system reliability are identified.","PeriodicalId":430931,"journal":{"name":"2019 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114528282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is very important to do a reliability and maintainability analysis of mining machines in order to make a better decision with respect to operation and maintenance of machines as well as production control in the mine. Awareness of transport units operational conditions and precise control over them are the key elements for preventing unwanted stops and improving the performance of machines. The aim of this study is to evaluate the reliability and maintainability of loading and hauling equipment in Golegohar Mine No. 1 in Iran, which produce 12 million tons of iron ore annually. For this purpose, the failure data of transport units including dump trucks, mining shovels and backhoe excavators were collected over a period of one year. Then the data were analyzed based on the statistical method to produce the reliability and maintainability parameters of each mining equipment. The time corresponding to reliability and maintainability levels of 90 and 50 percent are also calculated and presented.","PeriodicalId":430931,"journal":{"name":"2019 4th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124700236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
