The proposed measurement system is applicable to access and local optical networks for which the standard RFTS is too expensive. The basic idea lies in replacing expensive optical switches with more affordable optical power splitters. Consequently, all fibers are simultaneously tested and therefore the new method for error detection is developed. The experimental results demonstrate the possibilities of the new testing system. Furthermore, we have demonstrated that the number of averaging needed in the measurement procedure can be reduced by a factor of 10 by using an appropriate signal-processing algorithm","PeriodicalId":430777,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings ELMAR 2006","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128203406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The receiver is designed for the processing of signals of present and future global navigation satellite systems, including GPS, GLONASS and Galileo. For the biggest possible versatility, the modular architecture and software defined radio (SDR) concept were chosen. The front-end unit consists of three independent channels with the bandwidth of 24 MHz each that use a single conversion super-heterodyne concept with intermediate frequency 140 MHz. The front-end provides down converted analogue signal to DSP unit represented by FPGA device with two embedded PowerPC cores. Directional wavelet transform decomposes an image into four-dimensional space which augments the image by the scale and directional information. We show the directional information significantly improves edge detection in noisy images in comparison with the classical multiscale edge detector, and enables more reliable edge tracing along an object boundary. Edge detection is based on the modulus maximum principle with an adaptive threshold whose value is calculated via maximum entropy measure. Edge tracing is done with signal alignment between neighbour edges","PeriodicalId":430777,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings ELMAR 2006","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127861863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article considers orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme as a key technique to implement in next-generation mobile systems. The introduction of OFDM multicarrier technique in new hybrid multiple access technologies should provide a solution for problems limiting current mobile systems, such as sensitivity to multipath conditions, poor bandwidth efficiency, interference and capacity issues, high signal processing complexity and inadequate performance of high-speed data transmission. The theoretical background, characteristics and practical applications of some of the most important multiple access combinations will be reviewed. TV projection needs to achieve closest possible artistic atmosphere of original film image. Different balance of picture elements, because of the format correction process, results with different artistic atmosphere of the projected picture. There are different approaches to correction process which depend on film frame format and for best results need to be planed during the film making.
