The concept of minimal spanning tree (MST) was introduced as the key pattern for generalizing the univariate two-sample problem to multivariate observations. Here, the multivariate Wald-Wolfowitz test is further quantified using the enhanced representations of orthogonal MSTs. Their advantages are investigated by comparing the similarity between color distributions in the feature space, using a standard feature extraction technique borrowed computer vision. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed scheme, the application on a diverse collection of images has been systematically studied in a query-by-example visual information retrieval task. Experimental results show that a powerful measure of similarity can emerge from the statistical comparison of their efficiently drawn pattern representations","PeriodicalId":430777,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings ELMAR 2006","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123281667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The schema consists of motion compensated t+2D wavelet decomposition scalable coder and double binary turbo code. Double binary codes were used for protection since they perform better than classical turbo coders in terms of better convergence for iterative decoding, a large minimum distance and computational cost. An efficient method to estimate the minimum distance of double binary turbo codes is also proposed. The best packet length are evaluated by measuring the minimum distance of turbo code to adopt the scalable bitstream with unequal error protection. Simulation results show that the unequal error protection is quite efficient, even in very adverse conditions, and it clearly outperforms simple FEC techniques","PeriodicalId":430777,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings ELMAR 2006","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114848599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Theoretical filter foundations, properties and guidelines for its application are described in detail. This parametric, symmetric, and rotation invariant filter adapts by varying its radius, and, consequently, enables scale-space image analyzing. Filter executes very fast also by big radii, because majority of filter mask elements are zero. Preliminary results are very promising. Proposed filter outperforms related methods like thresholding and local standard deviation in specific images, and, therefore, it is efficient supplement for these methods. With two integrated post-processing methods, this filter successfully deals also with image noise. Consequently, introduced filter can be legitimate reckoned among basic low-level digital image processing tools","PeriodicalId":430777,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings ELMAR 2006","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132107413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HNM model represents speech signals as a sum of a harmonic and a noise part. The decomposition of speech signal into these two parts enables more natural sounding modifications of the signal. The parametric representation of speech provides a straightforward way of changing prosodic features of the speech. Our algorithm is based on the modified HNM model.
