In other words, this group of students possess a relatively better cognitive abilities for logical reasoning and cognitive maturity to excel in the future as professionals in Science-Mathematics related fields. However, there are still concerns regarding how Muslim Science students manage their thinking when confronted with a situation that demands scientific and religious consideration. Adolescent students’ thinking can be used as a baseline for understanding the worldview of young Muslims. As such, a study is necessary to comprehend how such thinking is managed. However, prior to conducting the actual study, a preliminary study was conducted to determine whether the chosen research method is effective in measuring the desired attributes and to determine the extent to which the findings can be used to study students’ arguments and reasoning in the stated venue.","PeriodicalId":430568,"journal":{"name":"TAFHIM: IKIM Journal of Islam and the Contemporary World","volume":"461 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114349105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By means of the method of tafsīr-taʾwīl and muḥkamāt-mutashābihāt appropriated by al-Attas as a way of understanding the cosmos, it is argued that man proceeds to understand the different degrees of existence through his understanding of metaphors and man as a metaphorical concept. Man, then, is able to recognise a higher degree of existence that is the cause of his own existence, which is God’s existence. Furthermore, with knowledge and its transmissions through various chains of authority of knowledge, man accepts the validity of true report (khabar ṣādiq) which is especially true with regard to the reality and the truth of God’s Revelation.","PeriodicalId":430568,"journal":{"name":"TAFHIM: IKIM Journal of Islam and the Contemporary World","volume":"337 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115886006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the management and conservation of the environment based on the Islamic approach is gaining attention both nationally and internationally. Apart from highlighting the Islamic approach, the empowerment of religious institutions such as mosques has also received attention from various parties. As an example, creating an eco-mosque and expanding its role as an environmental conservation agent in an effort to spread and promote the message of environmental awareness to the community. Although the implementation of eco-mosques in Malaysia is still not widespread, efforts to transform the existing mosques into eco-mosques are already in place. Therefore, this article presents an overview of the concept of eco-mosque and outlines in general the potential and challenges of eco-mosque implementation in Malaysia. It was found that one of the main challenges in the implementation of eco-mosques is the large cost of implications as well as the willingness of community members in its successful implementation.","PeriodicalId":430568,"journal":{"name":"TAFHIM: IKIM Journal of Islam and the Contemporary World","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123500228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, food safety and halal principles are interconnected and inseparable. In determining safety, the hygiene and quality of food—the concept of halālan ṭayyiban (halal and good) becomes the main benchmark. This article attempts to examine the importance of food safety parallel to the concept of halālan ṭayyiban in positioning food safety in the halal food industry; to review the reference standards used in halal certification that are consistent with the concept of halālan ṭayyiban in Malaysia, and to identify the aspects of food safety in the reference standards used for halal food in Malaysia. The aspects of food safety have to be continuously strengthened so that there will be no loop holes and manipulation in its implementation.","PeriodicalId":430568,"journal":{"name":"TAFHIM: IKIM Journal of Islam and the Contemporary World","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126144413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The articles were published between 1909 and 1924 in Beyânulhak Magazine, Hikmet newspaper, Islam Mecmuasi Magazine, Mahfil Magazine, Sirat-i Mustakim Magazine, Sebilurresad Magazine, Teâruf-i Muslimîn Magazine, and Tarih-i Osmani Encumeni Magazine. The articles are important in terms of reflecting both the political and cultural atmosphere of the period. Also, the articles are important in terms of showing how the press of the Ottoman Empire, the centre of the caliphate, reacted to the problems in the Islamic world. By examining the articles in these periodicals, the then-current issues of the Islamic world can be understood. Especially considering the importance of the Malay world for Islamic civilisation, the articles were determined as the subject of study. As a result of the study, it is seen that the articles in Ottoman periodicals mostly contained information about the social, economic, cultural, and political situation of the Muslims living in the Malay world.","PeriodicalId":430568,"journal":{"name":"TAFHIM: IKIM Journal of Islam and the Contemporary World","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114546228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of those leading contemporary reformation proponents in uṣūl al-fiqh today is Jasser Auda. This paper aims to analyse one of his proposals, which is related to the concept of al-naskh (abrogation). According to him, the principle of abrogation does not have any religious basis in the al-Qur’ān nor the Sunnah. It is instead in most situations a personal opinion of the narrator/comentator. As an alternative to alnaskh, his proposal is for the uṣūliyyūn to consider the maqāṣid (higher objectives) behind each verse (naṣṣ) in circumstances where there are disagreements between the verses (nuṣūṣ).","PeriodicalId":430568,"journal":{"name":"TAFHIM: IKIM Journal of Islam and the Contemporary World","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133343901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, those narrations highlighted as problematic were systematically elaborated, discussed, and codified in detail by many outstanding Muslim scholars of the past. Among them was Ibn Qutaybah al-Dinawārī (d. 276AH. / 894CE). This paper applies a descriptive method through content analysis of Ibn Qutaybah’s book Taʾwīl Mukhtalif al-Ḥadīth to derive his method of synchronising the alleged mukhtalif al-ḥadīth with the Qur’ānic teachings. It also intends to develop the guidelines in dealing with the alleged problematic ḥadīth relevant for today’s consumption. This paper concludes that utilising the positive method of taʾwīl (allegorical interpretation) will increase the possibility of a positive approach in understanding and implementing the teachings of the Prophetic Tradition.","PeriodicalId":430568,"journal":{"name":"TAFHIM: IKIM Journal of Islam and the Contemporary World","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129555303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Malaysia, it is now the trend in the industry of cosmetics for local manufacturers to produce halal cosmetic products. As the market growth is rapid, the manufacturers of cosmetics are eager to dominate the market and come up with many product varieties in order to pursue and satisfy customers. However, most consumers are conscious of the ingredients used in the making of cosmetic products. While the introduction of new products may facilitate companies in gaining competitive advantage, the failure rate of local products is high. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to understand the relationship between product characteristics, social influence and individual innovativeness with halal cosmetics adoption among young consumers in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. The sampling of this study comprised 350 respondents using survey questionnaires that were distributed in shopping malls in the Klang Valley. In order to test the model, this study used the structural equation modelling (SEM) technique using partial least squares (PLS) with SmartPLS 3.2.8. The findings of this study show that there is a positive relationship between product characteristics, social influence and individual innovativeness towards halal cosmetics adoption among respondents. This study demonstrates that halal cosmetics adoption is increasing among young consumers. Therefore, cosmetics producers or marketers need to understand the behaviour of young consumers in order to ensure that failure rate can be minimised.","PeriodicalId":430568,"journal":{"name":"TAFHIM: IKIM Journal of Islam and the Contemporary World","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128484307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
