Today, outcomes for not only students but also for those who teach them have become a focal point. The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the World Language edTPA—a performance-based, subject-specific assessment for pre-service teachers in 27 content areas that is now in place in 41 states and the District of Columbia. The authors begin by highlighting educational policy and best practices in teaching languages before providing research-based suggestions regarding the development of a high-quality portfolio by focusing on video recording considerations and the use of the integrated performance assessment.","PeriodicalId":430557,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Modern Educational Technologies, Applications, and Management","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129952458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aims of the study were to determine participants' perceptions about the effectiveness of the experience to meet the learning objective, to construct and programme robotics models, and to help pupils to become familiar with computational concepts and practices. Based on these goals, it employed a case study method in which were involved a teacher and 52 students of the fourth grade of primary education. The instruments used to collect data were a questionnaire, a semantic differential, a semi-structured interview, and a monitoring guide. The findings suggested participants' positive perspective towards the project to achieve the objectives and contents of the unit; acquire the skills of critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving; apply their knowledge to real-world problems; and become familiar with some mechanical movements and with a set of computational concepts.","PeriodicalId":430557,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Modern Educational Technologies, Applications, and Management","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123328633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through a literature review, this chapter aims to explore the concepts and the facilitator or inhibitor factors associated with the collaboration relationships between university and software industry, taking knowledge management into account. This chapter is organized as follows. In the first section, the authors briefly introduce university, software industry, and knowledge management. The following section, based on the literature reviewed, provides a critical discussion of the university-software industry collaboration relationship, knowledge management in knowledge intensive organizations or community, and knowledge management in collaboration relationship between these two types of industries. Finally, in the rest of the sections, the authors point to future research directions and conclude.","PeriodicalId":430557,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Modern Educational Technologies, Applications, and Management","volume":" 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113948525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But limited studies investigated the implementation issues in the context of higher education institutions. The authors attempt to observe and compare two different higher education institutions in South Africa and India with the objective of bringing out the practical determinants of roadblocks to a successful ERP project implementation and subsequently provide the readers with possible solutions. The findings suggest implementation issues broadly evolve from three major areas, namely, project management issues, which involve the technical as well as the functional aspects; issues concerning the improper application of software development life cycle phases; and human capital issues which involve beliefs and attitudes. The authors strongly believe that the learning received from the case studies significantly contribute to the organizational knowledge concerning technology and business process reengineering.","PeriodicalId":430557,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Modern Educational Technologies, Applications, and Management","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125131347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, this is an area of healthcare that requires standardization. Accreditation is the formal recognition by an authoritative body noting that the clinical laboratory has an established quality management system and is competent to carry out specific tasks related to testing. The Strengthening Laboratory Management Toward Accreditation (SLMTA) program was established to strengthen national laboratory systems and to drive improvements that are immediate and measurable in developing countries, particularly those in Sub-Saharan Africa. This review seeks to look at opportunities that can be garnered by accredited medical laboratories and challenges in seeking accreditation during the implementation and operational states of the criteria of ISO 15189:2012. It also examines the progress toward clinical laboratories becoming accredited due to the enactment of the SLMTA in resource-limited settings.","PeriodicalId":430557,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Modern Educational Technologies, Applications, and Management","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122504482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers across disciplines are increasingly utilizing electronic tools to collect, analyze, and organize data. This “data deluge” creates a need to develop policies, infrastructures, and services in organisations, with the objective of assisting researchers in creating, collecting, manipulating, analysing, transporting, storing, and preserving datasets. Research is now conducted in the digital realm, with researchers generating and exchanging data among themselves. Research data management in context with library data could also be treated as big data without doubt due its properties of large volume, high velocity, and obvious variety. To sum up, it can be said that big datasets need to be more useful, visible, and accessible. With new and powerful analytics of big data, such as information visualization tools, researchers can look at data in new ways and mine it for information they intend to have.","PeriodicalId":430557,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Modern Educational Technologies, Applications, and Management","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132669425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
