The present study was intended to assess probable causes of death in rural areas of Anand district of Gujarat State by implementing “Verbal autopsy tool.”\u0000Material and Methods: A Cross-sectional study was conducted where all recorded 227 deaths from six villages of selected areas during January 2017 to December 2018 were considered for the study. Multiple steps were employed in conducting verbal autopsy including staff training, development of study questionnaires, physician’s involvement in assigning causes of death etc. The data analysis was performed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Software with Version 24.\u0000Results: Out of 227 deaths, the maximum deaths were attributed to non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The predominant NCDs among deceased individuals were cardiovascular diseases (66.01%), malignancy (21.56%), chronic pulmonary diseases (9.80%) and Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (2.63%). Among communicable diseases, nearly 48% of deceased individuals had bacterial infections including Tuberculosis followed by viral infections including HIV (31%), parasitic infections (21%).\u0000Conclusions: Despite few limitations, lay reporting of deaths supplemented with physician assignment of cause of death for verbal autopsies, remains a practicable strategy to record the various patterns of mortality reliably for unattended deaths.

As the saying goes – “Health is Wealth”. So, health is something which cannot be ignored. In order to maintain health, one needs to take into consideration the nutritional needs of the body and this is of utmost importance especially during the early phase of growth periods in children. Our country is facing problem of malnutrition in children which is of alarming concern and inspite of numerous projects planned by the government of our country still the bane of malnutrition prevails. There needs to be an additional intervention planned at grassroot level keeping in consideration every geographical terrain, cultural and ethnic practices in related to feeding and rearing. This will not only help in combatting the problem of malnutrition but will also keep the mother and family of child aware of nutrition status of their children. The need to strengthening our policies and services at grassroot level is of prime concern as a lot policies and services are only limited to the documents.

The perception of and the ability to handle the stress depends on their coping styles.\u0000Objectives: To find the prevalence of stress and factors associated with stress and coping mechanisms among B.Sc. nursing students of Nursing College, at Bankura, West Bengal.\u0000Methodology: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted among 201 B.Sc. nursing students of a tertiary care centre at Bankura using self-administered questionnaire, PSS-10 and Brief-COPE inventory. Association between categorical data were analysed using chi square test. Correlation between two quantitative variables was tested using Spearman’s rank correlation, while Mann Whitney U test was performed to compare the differences between two groups.\u0000Results: Proportion of participants with low, moderate and high perceived stress were 18.9%, 67.2% and 13.9% respectively. Higher academic year, opting career by compulsion, history of long-term illness and receiving no support from family were associated with high stress. There was significant positive correlation between age, problem focused coping, avoidant coping, adaptive coping and maladaptive coping scores with PSS-10.\u0000Conclusions: Complete stress-free nursing career might be a stretch, but it is imperative to identify the stressors to alleviate the level of perceived stress among the nursing students.

IVD case reports in 57 subdistricts in the period January–December 2022 reached 7,582 cases (distribution of cases between subdistricts in Figure 1), an incidence rate (IR) of 162/100,000 population (Figure 1), and mortality of 15 people (case fatality rate [CFR] of 0.2%). Cases were declared to have tripled from the previous year, and IR did not meet the national target (> 49/100,000 population). The urgency of dengue eradication in Bali aims to reduce morbidity and mortality due to DHF. We highlight the challenges and obstacles that make IVD cases in Bali increasingly concerning. Based on our review, climate variability is essential in increasing vector populations in the environment. However, a comprehensive study that studies the interrelationships of all climate elements, including temperature, air humidity, wind speed, air pressure, precipitation, rainy days, rain properties, the standardized precipitation index (SPI), and the length of solar irradiation in increasing abundance, population, and vector activity with increasing cases of IVD, has not been studied comprehensively. \u0000

Community based perinatal death auditing is required to identify preventable perinatal deaths. The objectives are to know utility of expert panel in an audit-based approach to identify 1). preventable perinatal deaths, 2) Risk factors in cases of perinatal deaths\u0000Methodology: Perinatal death auditing was conducted in two districts of Karnataka state. As a part of audit system, an expert panel consisting of paediatricians and obstetricians was formed for each district. The panel met every month and received information about perinatal deaths occurring in the hospitals (government and private) apart from the community in these districts. The panel considered available information about survival chances and care provided to decide if a perinatal death was preventable, possibly preventable or not preventable.\u0000Results: Proportion Of identified preventable and possibly preventable perinatal deaths in Koppal District (60%, 20%) was higher than Dakshina Kannada district (34.4%, 30.2%). The proportion preventable intranatal and neonatal risks in Koppal District (79%, 66%) was higher than Dakshina Kannada District (47%, 19%).\u0000Conclusion: Expert panel is useful to identify preventable perinatal deaths. The public health law has an important role in the control of communicable diseases. Constraining individual rights is inherent to public health law which necessitates striking a balance between the coercive aspect of public health law and the common good. Adhering to ethical principles relevant to public health law and valid limitations on human rights as per international covenants is imperative for public health law. A tabular summary of articles published about the epidemic diseases act, of 1897 highlights the need for urgent reform in the legislation. Suggestions to achieve congruence between the epidemic diseases act of India, 1897, and ethical principles for public health law are provided.
