Sobre las disputas y críticas entre Pellicer y Salcedo Coronel","authors":"Érika Redruello Vidal","doi":"10.13035/h.2023.11.01.62","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.13035/h.2023.11.01.62","url":null,"abstract":". This paper focuses on the relationship forged between José Pellicer and José García de Salcedo Coronel, commentators of Góngora’s works. In doing so, we will examine the written testimonies preserved in the volumes devoted to the defence of Don Luis’ lyric poetry. Both the Zaragozan and the Sevillian will indirectly allude to each other’s texts in order to exercise certain criticisms of their commentaries, passing years between replies. This would leave a record of the quarrels and disagreements reflected on paper and reaching their peak in Salcedo Coronel’s commentary on the Soledades , published in 1636. In this work, he would reply to many of the judgements of his rival in his work, the Lecciones solemnes (1630). Thus, the aim of this article is to provide an overview of the scholarly work of the two humanists throughout the 1620s and 1640s. Our aim is to show how their relationship evolved over the years, focusing on the points of dispute while showing one of the many sides of the Gongorine polemic.","PeriodicalId":42908,"journal":{"name":"Hipogrifo-Revista de literatura y cultura del Siglo de Oro","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76634430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typographic design, especially the use of ornaments, in comedias su-eltas lacking editorial data should be considered a useful tool in identifying such printings. The analysis and systematic control of ornamentation based on the use of wood engraving and metal type-ornaments are the first steps in attempting to identify printers. I propose to apply this method to a standarised study of the orna-mental characteristics of the compositive elements of plays printed by the viuda de Francisco Lorenzo de Hermosilla and compare to ornamentation in those published by Diego López de Haro. The findings are a clear example of the necessity of a thor - ough study/examination of the elements that decorated their sueltas.","PeriodicalId":42908,"journal":{"name":"Hipogrifo-Revista de literatura y cultura del Siglo de Oro","volume":"223 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73179696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
