Traditional algorithms based on collaborative filtering require an up-to-date dataset of users and their preferences, which is difficult to gather for huge database of items. Content-based approach suffers from the complex computation of similarity among items. In this paper we propose an approach to recommendation with a focus on the natural change of user's interests in movies. We make use of a graph representation and experimented with modified graph algorithms. We design a representation of the data about movies in a graph structure and a method which uses our data model for recommendation. We propose four recommendation algorithms which are capable to find recommendations based on initial nodes, which selection is based on the user's current interests. We implemented these algorithms and experimentally evaluated them with real users.","PeriodicalId":428515,"journal":{"name":"2013 24th International Workshop on Database and Expert Systems Applications","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125837855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Amelin","doi":"10.1109/DEXA.2013.47","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/DEXA.2013.47","url":null,"abstract":"Wind power generation does on the one hand contribute to a less polluting and more sustainable electric power generation mix. On the other hand, its power output is variable and subject to forecast errors. In real-time, deviations from wind power forecast are handled by the system operator. But expected deviations can already me minimised by power generating companies before real-time. Ways to decrease their expected deviations are intraday trading and/or re-scheduling of own power plants. Both can be regarded as forms of self-balancing before the period of delivery (ex-ante), intraday trading as a form of external ex-ante self-balancing and re-scheduling as internal ex-ante self-balancing. Both can decrease the need for real-time balancing by the system operator. As existing intraday markets are often plagued by low liquidity, it is important to model such not-perfectly liquid intraday markets and simulate different trading and scheduling strategies. This paper presents an approach to model the choice between purely internal self-balancing and internal self-balancing combined with intraday trading on a not fully liquid intraday market. Results from the model runs indicate that intraday trading on a not-perfectly liquid market can be beneficial from the producers as well as from the system's perspective. However, it can result in increased costs if the possibilities to trade on the intraday market are very limited. This is important to consider when investigating the question whether it would be beneficial to distribute a larger share of the balancing responsibility among the power generating companies in order to relieve some pressure from the system operator.","PeriodicalId":428515,"journal":{"name":"2013 24th International Workshop on Database and Expert Systems Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122501979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although parsing is one of the most computationally heavy part in the process of XML stream processing, existing techniques do not focus on the efficiency of XML parsing. To this problem, in our scheme, we propose element-skipping parsing where the parsing of such XML elements that do not contribute to the final query result is skipped with the coordination of XML parser and query processor. We show that the scheme is effective in reducing the execution time as well as energy consumption of stream-based XML query processor.","PeriodicalId":428515,"journal":{"name":"2013 24th International Workshop on Database and Expert Systems Applications","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128256418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, such networks often form an isolated system that needs to be connected to other network systems. Therefore, a system-of-systems approach is required. A sensor registry is the central part of a distributed sensor network. In this paper, we describe how to enhance sensor registries with semantic technologies in order to overcome some of their limitations. The Sensor Web Enablement standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium constitute a consistent and flexible framework in order to assure syntactical interoperability between applications, which make abundant use of data from sensor networks operated by heterogeneous stakeholders. The data model used throughout these standards is the Observation & Measurement model. The conversion into an ontology provides an easier handling of the model. In this paper, we propose the use of such an ontology as the basis of a Semantic Registry. Besides providing the information about the available sensor infrastructure and their semantically rich annotations, it can easily be extended to handle for example information about available services for data analysis or simulations. Furthermore, the resilience of the SRs is a crucial point in the system architecture to prevent it becoming a single point of failure.","PeriodicalId":428515,"journal":{"name":"2013 24th International Workshop on Database and Expert Systems Applications","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128404660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most existing algorithms cluster documents, sentences and words separately but not simultaneously. However, when analyzing large textual corpuses, the amount of data to be processed in a single machine is usually limited by the main memory available, and the increase of these data to be analyzed leads to increasing computational workload. In this paper we present a parallel fuzzy triadic similarity measure called PFT-Sim, to calculate fuzzy memberships in a context of document co-clustering based on a parallel programming architecture. It allows computing simultaneously fuzzy co-similarity matrices between documents/sentences and sentences/words. Each one is built on the basis of the others. The PFT-SIM model provides a parallel data analysis strategy and divides the similarity computing task into parallel sub-tasks to tackle efficiency and scalability problems.","PeriodicalId":428515,"journal":{"name":"2013 24th International Workshop on Database and Expert Systems Applications","volume":"IA-17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126555611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In contemplation of this purpose, high-grade, accurate and extensive pools of building-specific parameters like construction types, construction year and dwelling information can dramatically assist in risk assessment, analysis and evaluation thereof. However, latent factors obtained with mathematical methods applied to the user-item matrix can be hardly interpreted by humans. In this paper we exploit Topic Models applied to textual data associated with items to find explanations for latent factors. During the development life-cycle the related specification evolves. Abstract functions and rules are defined, new functions and rules are introduced and arbitrary data structures are instantiated with the specification being refined towards implementation. Two main abstraction levels are introduced in this paper to show a possible classification of abstraction levels of a formal specification. Furthermore, the basic differences and basic transition guidelines between those levels are discussed. A small example of the proposed two main abstraction levels is shown on a high-level specification of a potential transition machine to outline the intended transition process, typical appearance of abstraction level stages and refinement patterns.","PeriodicalId":428515,"journal":{"name":"2013 24th International Workshop on Database and Expert Systems Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129002045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the change of either environment execution conditions, or requirements, during the development may require the evolution of the process. In this paper, we present a framework named FASOAD that addresses this issue. FASOAD implements the phases of an agile approach for SOA development as a component assembly model. Based on the Service Component Architecture (SCA) model, this framework allows developing SOA projects and enforcing the agile methods principles. In addition, we address the case of the dynamic reconfiguration of service-oriented architectures in presence of an evolution of their development process. A case study is presented to illustrate the approach.","PeriodicalId":428515,"journal":{"name":"2013 24th International Workshop on Database and Expert Systems Applications","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126269406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
