This study aimed to evaluate the resilience and anxiety of COVID-19 in nurses of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Jiroft and their relationship with demographic variables from April to August 2020. The present study is descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional. To select the statistical sample, the census method was used so that 80 nurses working in different wards of the hospital were selected and included in the study. The resilience measurement tool is the Connor-Davidson Resilience Questionnaire (CD-RIS). COVID-19 anxiety was assessed using a comprehensive national questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistics Chi-square, Independent two-sample parametric t-test, and ANOVA through SPSS 20. The level of COVID-19 anxiety in nurses was moderate (19.3±11.64) and the rate of resilience was low (36.7±16.65). There is a statistically significant difference between resilience in nurses and age (p = 0.003). There was no statistically significant relationship between the rate of resilience in nurses and gender (p = 0.13), the unit of service (p = 0.87), marital status (p = 0.98), work experience (p = 0.06), and the level of education (p = 0.63). There was no statistically significant relationship between anxiety in nurses and age (p = 0.53), gender (p = 0.59), the unit of work (p = 0.48), marital status (p = 0.90), work experience (p = 0.40), and level of education (p = 0.60). The results of multivariate analysis showed that, work experience, and place of work have a statistically significant relationship with resilience and anxiety of COVID-19 in nurses, respectively (p <0.05).The level of COVID-19 anxiety in nurses is moderate and the rate of resilience is high. Given the current high-risk situation, it is important to identify nurses prone to psychological disorders to maintain and improve their mental health with appropriate strategies and techniques.","PeriodicalId":42839,"journal":{"name":"ACTA SCIENTIARUM-HEALTH SCIENCES","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90572264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A cross-sectional study was carried out by analyzing 262 medical records containing information sociodemographic, as well as clinical oral data, to investigate dental caries. Amongst all children included in study, 226 (86.3%) had some teeth with experience of dental caries and 161 (61.5%) had three or more dental caries. The mean dental caries in children aged between 6-8 years was 5.3 ± 3.1, and the average in children aged between 9-12 years was 2.0 ± 1.9. There was association between the severity of dental caries (more than three teeth) and not using dental floss, as well as with the geographical location of residence. Older children were considered to be protected from dental caries. In this study, the experience of dental caries was high, especially in primary teeth, and variables such as the geographical location of residence, absence of flossing were related to the greater severity of dental caries.","PeriodicalId":42839,"journal":{"name":"ACTA SCIENTIARUM-HEALTH SCIENCES","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81704380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, during data collection there are controversies regarding the use of spontaneous or controlled breath. The aim of this research was to compare the effects of controlled and spontaneous breath on HRV in healthy adults.The present cross-sectional study held a sample of 52 healthy volunteers (22 male, 42.3%), average of 25 (±4) years old and body mass index 22.4 (±2.7) kgm-². All the volunteers were evaluated in 2 days (at most three days between the evaluations). On each day the data were collected with spontaneous and then controlled breath (12 breaths per minute - bpm: Inspiration/Expiration: 2/3). Data were collected with a pulse frequency meter (Polar brand, model 810i). The HRV was evaluated for time and frequency domain and was analyzed using an area corresponding to 5 minutes (containing at least 256 beats per minute) by Kubios program version 2.1. In the time domain, no differences were observed between spontaneous and controlled breath. In the frequency domain, the controlled breathing reduced sympathetic activity (p<0.001) in approximately 14% and increased (p<0.001) parasympathetic activity proportionally. The autonomic modulation evaluated by low frequency/ high frequency(LF/HF) ratio decreased (p<0.001) in average -0.6 on the days evaluated. The controlled breathing (12 bpm) decrease sympathetic activity and increases parasympathetic by modifying the heart autonomic modulation.","PeriodicalId":42839,"journal":{"name":"ACTA SCIENTIARUM-HEALTH SCIENCES","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89460662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this retrospective cohort study, we analyzed 1,122 medical records of patients with DM from specialized services with interdisciplinary health teams (IHT) in the city of Ourinhos, São Paulo state, Brazil, to assess the impact of secondary care on glycemic control in patients with DM in those places and to compare baseline and follow-up DM care indicators concerning clinical evaluation and drug treatment regimens in the aforementioned health services. The study covered consultations carried out from September/2013 to September/2017. Data were collected from initial and final appointments in medical records and revealed an increase of 31.21% in insulin introduction and of 73.53% in regimens with three or more non-insulin antidiabetic (NIA) medications. Among the 570 patients with at least two glycated hemoglobin (A1C) measurements in the aforementioned review, 146 did not require any therapeutic adjustment between initial and final appointments, 123 required a subtle adjustment, 95, a moderate adjustment, and 206, an intense adjustment. There was a noticeably higher A1C reduction between initial and final appointments when patients who required an intense drug adjustment were compared to those who did not need any different NIA drug (p-value < 0.0001). In addition to optimizing drug treatment, essential exams in DM were performed with higher frequency, with an increase of 63% in ophthalmology evaluation performed during secondary care approach and 60.65% more individuals being screened for diabetic chronic kidney disease. IHT secondary care considered in this study, therefore, not only improved glycemic control of patients with DM, especially by optimization of NIA regimens and timely prescription of insulin, but also increased the screening for microvascular complications.","PeriodicalId":42839,"journal":{"name":"ACTA SCIENTIARUM-HEALTH SCIENCES","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73163612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this research is to describe the profile of perinatal deaths reported in municipalities of Piauí’s Coastal Plain from 2013 to 2017. This is a retrospective, descriptive study with a quantitative analysis approach, resulting from the Course Completion Work entitled ‘Perinatal mortality profile in municipalities of Piaui’s Coastal Plain’. The sample consisted of death certificates and infant death and fetal death investigation forms of children whose mothers lived in the Coastal Plain, PI, and who had their deaths confirmed in the perinatal period, between January 2013 and December 2017. During the study period, the Perinatal Mortality Rate (PMR) of the Coastal Plain, PI, was 22.97 deaths per 1,000 births, with little variation between 2013 and 2017. Fetal deaths were predominant, comprising 61.9% of the sample. Hospital deaths that occurred in Parnaíba were the most frequent, revealing this to be the reference municipality in the region. This shows the need for greater attention on the part of health professionals and managers to such conditions, in order to improve the quality of care for pregnant women, parturient women, and newborns.","PeriodicalId":42839,"journal":{"name":"ACTA SCIENTIARUM-HEALTH SCIENCES","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86164514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently available clotrimazole (especially vaginal) dosage forms, have some limitations, including: leakage, messiness and low residence time, which leads to poor patient compliance. Therefore, in this study, a clotrimazole mucoadhesive gel has been developed as a suitable strategy due to their high water content, increased local retention time, lubrication and patient compliance. Xanthan gum and tragacanth with different portions were utilized as natural mucoadhesive gel forming polymers. Gel formulations were subjected to physico-chemical evaluations including gel viscosity, FTIR spectroscopy, spreadability, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of hydrogel chains, and release kinetic. Results demonstrated that among 8 developed formulas, formulation F1 showed the appropriate properties including controlled drug release (63.13% in 6h) with higuchi release kinetic, higher mucoadhesion (77.71 dyne cm-1) and drug content (94.47%) and relatively low spreadability (3.5 cm) which is suitable for local drug delivery. FTIR spectroscopy revealed there is not incompatibility between clotrimazole and other excipients in formulations. Combination of natural polysaccharides can form a proper mucoadhesive gel matrix for delivery of synthetic or natural drugs.","PeriodicalId":42839,"journal":{"name":"ACTA SCIENTIARUM-HEALTH SCIENCES","volume":"51 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77271661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
