Sidibé","doi":"10.15520/ijcrr.v11i05.811","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15520/ijcrr.v11i05.811","url":null,"abstract":"Introduction \u0000Mental retardation is defined by the American Psychiatric Classification as a \"significant below-average general intellectual functioning occurring before the age of 18 and with limitations of adaptive functioning in many areas of ability such as communication, autonomy, school learning, social life, individual responsibility, work, leisure, health and safety.” \u0000In this work, we sought to determine the prevalence, describe the socio-demographic profile and identify the clinical forms of mental delay in children and teenagers. \u0000 \u0000Materials and methods: \u0000 \u0000This descriptive transverse retrospective study of a duration of ten (10 years) from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2017 involved 62 cases of patients suffering from mental retardation. Included in our study were records of patients of any sex and age admitted to the department who were diagnosed with mental delay regardless of their origin and who had a correctly completed record. \u0000 \u0000Results: \u0000 \u0000The prevalence of mental delay was 0.8%. The age group from 15 – 19 was the most represented equivalent to 56.5% and the average age of our patients was 9.5 years \u0000Both sexes were affected with a male predominance of 66% versus 34% of females with a sex ratio of 1.9. The majority of our patients came from the city of Conakry (84% versus 16% from outside Conakry). The sensation of this weight is caused by the upward force exerted by the elevator upon the man. A function has been empirically chosen to express the time dependence of velocity. Using this function, the upward force, acting on the man, has been calculated to determine thereby his apparent weight. Fractional change of weight, perceived by the man, has been estimated. The ratio of the apparent weight to the actual weight has been determined. For the upward and downward motions of the elevator, the present article graphically shows the time dependence of its speed, acceleration, ratio of the apparent to actual weight and the fractional change of weight, for different values of a parameter that controls the sharpness of the velocity-versus-time curve. To quantify the degree of comfort that one gets, while riding in an elevator, a parameter called comfort factor has been defined. It has been defined in two different ways, showing clearly the factors that reduce or enhance the level of comfort in such a journey.
