It also brings a considerable amount of foreign exchange to the country annually, which is an important factor for the country’s economy. The climatic variation of the Central Province of Sri Lanka provides a suitable growing environment for different tropical and subtropical floriculture species. There are more than 700 floriculture nurseries in the province. They grow an array of popular floriculture varieties for the local market. The objectives of the research were to identify the information sources, their characteristics, and their effect on technical knowledge and adoption of grower’s cultural practices. Among the growers, 210 were randomly selected. A three-point scale was used to measure the levels of technical knowledge. Required primary data were collected through personal interviews with a pretested questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). \u0000Anthuriums, Orchids, Roses, Foliage, and Mixed flowers were the main floricultural crops grown by the growers in the province. Different percentages of respondents grow different types of floricultural crops (53.8% to 63.3%). The numbers of respondents showed that one grower might grow more than one type of crop. Higher numbers of the growers grow anthuriums (68.5%), mixed flowers (63.3), and foliage (59.0). These floricultural crops have high demands in the local market as well as in the foreign market. Television was partly helpful for the growers (78.8%) as an information source. \u0000The highest mean values of overall quality of information were for the information given by the botanic garden extension staff (16.45) and fellow growers (14.37). The majority of the respondents have received adequate (82%), fully trustworthy (84.1%), fully timely (73.4%), fully useful (81.7%) technical information from the Botanic Gardens extension staff. The fellow growers (43.1%) were also an important information source for the growers. Private companies (1.1%) and radio (1.1%) provided the least amount of information. The relationship between the overall technical knowledge and the overall information sources was significant (p value is 0.007). The relationship between the overall adoption and the overall information sources was also significant (p value is 0.007). Depending on the situation, different information sources provide the growers with trustworthy, useful and timely information. Growers receive quality information from the extension officers of the Department of National Botanic Gardens (DNBG) and the fellow growers. Therefore, it is recommended to provide necessary quality information to the growers through the DNBG.","PeriodicalId":427773,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics & Sociology","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116331890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ex-post facto research design was followed. The study was conducted in East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi districts. Two Community and Rural Development (C&RD) blocks from each district were selected. Further, eight villages were selected where twenty respondents were randomly selected from each, village. Hence, a total sample of 160 respondents for the study was selected. The study revealed that the majority of the respondents stated that selling and profit was the major reasons for growing the various selected crops and most sold their produce directly to the consumer. Land preparation for potato, cabbage and ginger was done in a traditional method, locally called Nur Bun method. \"Nur\" means an agricultural component in Khasi local language which indicate as “one raised bed”.  Major constraints faced by the respondents included extension constraints. Major constraints faced by the respondents can be countered and also can be solved with the intervention of the government.","PeriodicalId":427773,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics & Sociology","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121903327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three talukas were chosen based on the highest labour force from the district. In specific, they were Bidar, Bhalki, and Basavakalyan. In random selection, four villages from each taluka were selected. The primary data was taken via the personal interview process from a total of 240 samples randomly from every taluka for the experiment, with 80 samples. The current study was an attempt to obtain the different motives for the migration of farm labourers from the district of Bidar and to create the correct models for migration data. Tabular research was led in the sample villages of Bidar district for the specific characteristics of migrants and non-migrants. The tabular research found that about 50 percent of people from all talukas migrate from sample households. The tabular analysis exposed that 44 per cent of individual migration compared to the entire family migration and individuals belonging to the 15 – 30-year age group migrate more. Research also found that agricultural labourers in the villages are fleeing because of underemployment and unemployment. Agricultural families are not successful, so many leave with smaller land holdings for better opportunities. Also, the current study attempted to know the nature and magnitude of the association between the agricultural labourers migration in the bidar district and their socioeconomic characteristics. Results of the correlation coefficients of migration over other variables viz. land holding, family size, education, income including migrants income (IMI), and income excluding migrants income (EMI) revealed a significant relationship among land holding and migration. Along with family net income and relocation, the important relationship still occurred. Even between migration and family size.","PeriodicalId":427773,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics & Sociology","volume":"78 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120820161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disease appears in severe form every year and caused extensive quantitative as well as qualitative damage to the crop and makes the cultivation of Isabgol unprofitable. It causes a variety of symptoms on leaves such as chlorotic patches accompanied by ashy-white downy growth. The variations in the incidence and severity of downy mildew depend on the environmental conditions. During favourable environmental conditions, it causes serious yield reduction. Since no resistant varieties are available against this disease; therefore, the use of chemical fungicides is the only option available to the farmers to control this disease. However, it can effectively be controlled by the use of chemicals but larger breeding programmes to evolve resistant varieties need to be initiated.","PeriodicalId":427773,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics & Sociology","volume":"11 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116039680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, there is a need to expand agricultural finance, boost land productivity, and raise the potential and effectiveness of using water resources for agricultural output. Credit is needed, among other things, for the adoption of agricultural technology, the purchase of contemporary inputs and tools, the development of land, the purchase of animals, and the purchase of raw materials. By enabling farmers to satisfy their credit needs throughout the whole cycle of crop production and at the same time providing money for investment reasons, agriculture credit plays a significant role in preserving agricultural production. To better understand \"Utilization Trends of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Beneficiaries,\" the current study was proposed. Descriptive research design was used for the study. For this study, 120 farmers were specifically chosen as a sample from the Eligaid mandal of Peddapalli District of Telangana Sate. According to the data, the majority of respondents had socio-economic profiles that are on the middle level. It was discovered that majority of respondents had a medium level of utility for the Kisan Credit Card. Age, education, home type; landholding, annual income, family type, savings increased, income levels increased by this scheme and level of utility etc. were all found to be significantly associated with the credit utilization of the Kisan credit card at 0.05 level of significance by applied the chi-square and one-way ANOVA statistical tests in SPSS.","PeriodicalId":427773,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics & Sociology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130692113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
