This represented a particular difficulty for students of the Universidad Panamericana enrolled in the Energy Technologies Engineering degree that were taking their mechatronics classes. In this article, different online platforms were proposed for practices and simulations, alongside document writing and editing; processes that would normally be done physically. The students, coursing their eighth semester at university, were able to successfully complete their mechatronics course using online platforms like Autodesks Tinkercad (for Arduino practices programming and simulation), Factory I/O (for learning and simulating automation processes of a production line), FluidSIM (to gain an understanding of pneumatic actuators and perform practices) and finally, Overleaf, in order to acquire knowledge into writing an investigation article, with an IEEE format. It is important to highlight that there are diverse alternatives for face-to-face classes that can assure and guarantee effective learning, even in courses that can be seen at first glance impossible to be taught in an online modality. The experiences, implementation methodologies, examples and results are presented and described in this paper.","PeriodicalId":427104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering Veracruz (ICEV)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116694374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This analysis is based on an experiment design where the amount of gases emitted by livestock is measured under normal grazing conditions, in order to provide certainty of the data obtained in future measurements as an aspect of performance quality. The device has the advantage of not being invasive, unlike other commonly used measurement methods. Previous studies related to the greenhouse gas emission by ruminants do not show a permissible parameter of CO2 and CH4 since this largely depends on the different types of feed in the different regions of the world; therefore, this study presents a proposal to measure these gases through the non-invasive device, taking the time stamps (before and after) of the cows feeding as a basis for its design.","PeriodicalId":427104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering Veracruz (ICEV)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121902489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study presents the design, modeling, and implementation of a magnetic levitator. The complete system is formed by amplifiers, an optoelectronic sensor, a coil used as an electromagnet, and a metallic sphere used as an object to levitate. The information from the sensor is used to feed the proportional-integral-derivative (pid) controller, and with this regulate the incoming current that flows through the coil by means of a power amplifier with the objective of maintaining the metallic sphere at the balance point. The pid controller is designed based on dominating poles in a closed loop (s=−4 ± j4) being ±180°, assuring that the zeros contribute to the same angle. The proposed system levitates a metallic sphere with an inertial mass of 24.75 g and a diameter of 12 mm to a distance of 4mm.","PeriodicalId":427104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering Veracruz (ICEV)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134152109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Establishing that the secondary body presents a chaotic behavior along its orbit, four cases are determined in which this could happen, which leads to creating a project that simulates each case. During the process, the precision of the results is considered to define the most optimal parameters of the project. The three output signals represent the movement of the secondary body and can be verified by the results obtained from the same system by using Matlab programs that simulate the four cases, respectively. Finally, the complete design of the four cases was performed on an FPGA board, using VHDL code.","PeriodicalId":427104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering Veracruz (ICEV)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125171882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, in order to improve the quality of life of these patients arises the proposal of using medical robots as assistive devices to help them in their Basic Activities of Daily Living (BADL). Therefore, this research consists of a novel design and simulation of anthropomorphic 4 DOF (Degrees of Freedom) robotic arm, mounted on electric wheelchair controlled by a joystick. The development of this medical device was performed in the Mechatronics Laboratory at Ricardo Palma University in Peru during the period of 2016 to 2018, with the aim of finding an effective solution for the assistance of people with a limited range of movement caused by cerebral palsy. The mechanical, electrical and electronic components were designed using CAD software, considering the dynamic mechanism, weight lifted, and features of the patients with this disease. Also, the structure of the model was validated using the finite element method and the actuators were selected applying motion study analysis. Finally, the results of the simulation showed a successful and functional design, concluding that this biomechatronic design achieves an improvement in the quality of life of the patient. Besides, its assembly implementation is expected to be ready by 2021.","PeriodicalId":427104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering Veracruz (ICEV)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128919419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
