But a subsequent meeting between Lord Irwin and Gandhi revealed that the Dominion Status contemplated by Viceroy‟s pronouncement was not up to the expectation of Gandhi . Hence the Lahore Congress of 1929 had authorized the Working Committee to launch a programme of Civil Disobedience including, non-payment of taxes. Gandhi put forth the program to be observed by the people on 26th January 1930 as Purna Swaraj Day which was approved by the Congress Working Committee. On 15th February 1930, the Congress Working Committee meeting held at Ahmadabad, authorized Gandhi to launch the Civil Disobedience movement at time and place of his choice. The Civil Disobedience began on the issue of Salt Tax. On 12th March he began his march to Dandhi with a band of devoted Satyagrahi‟s to breach the Salt Law. Gandhi appealed to his countrymen to start the Salt Satyagraha at their respective region. Tamil Nadu played a commendable role in conducting Salt Satyagraha on the Gandhian model. It was conducted in various places like Marin Beach at Madras, Sholinganallur, Vedaranyam and Tuticorin and in the small coastal villages like Killai, Owari, Devanampattinam and Tharuvaikulam which imbibed the spirit of nationalism among the mind of people. This paper deals the incident on the micro level narrating the events from the grass root level.","PeriodicalId":427099,"journal":{"name":"Institutions & Transition Economics: Theoretical & Methodological Issues eJournal","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124599462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The qualitative methodology was employed, and the units of analysis were individual and community level. Key informants consisted of two groups included 1) ten community leaders and 2) twelve of suburban people who commuted between a suburban and urban area in different generations. These people were selected based on inclusion criteria's which were 1) they had full-time employment and 2) they worked in different occupations. In-depth interviews were the tool and conducted with the key informants, as well as the participatory and non-participatory observations. Data were collected from April to October 2018. Data analysis was conducted by content analysis, and data were presented by a descriptive method. The results found that the generations were related to economic capitals accumulation, Gen B and Gen X accumulated more economic capitals than other generations (Gen y and Gen z). Generations also had the relationship to taste, Gen Y and Gen Z showed a clear pattern of consumption, especially in technological utilization. Generations were related to community participation; the people in the Gen B and Gen X were more interested in community activities than Gen Y and Gen Z.","PeriodicalId":427099,"journal":{"name":"Institutions & Transition Economics: Theoretical & Methodological Issues eJournal","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116998324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, the work of the social control mechanism is considered as a complex, material expression of the manifestations of the criterion competence system built on powers. Clarifying and specifying the role and place of the factor in question in the development of the control process predetermines the content of specific tasks involved with the theoretical economic and legal grounds that reveal the essential characteristic of the analyzed concept. In this context, the underlying argumentation is the following: the manifestaton and development of the competence factor creates the possibility, in general, of control and, in particular, of administrative control, to achieve high levels of efficiency .","PeriodicalId":427099,"journal":{"name":"Institutions & Transition Economics: Theoretical & Methodological Issues eJournal","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122111971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We examined these issues by replicator dynamics based on Olson’s theory of the stationary bandit. Assuming five roles, a peasant, bandit, citizen, guardian, and emigrant, where the guardian stops the harsh predation of the citizen and the citizen pays tribute to the guardian, we investigate the formation of a state. Without an emigrant, we found the formation of a stable alliance of guardians and citizens, which is interpreted as a state following previous works, because the alliance realizes Pareto-efficiency. With an emigrant, interestingly, the alliance is more likely to appear than that without it, especially when guardians adopt the comparatively low taxation. The result supports Jones’ historical perspective that lots of democratic states have emerged in Europe via governance competitions among states. Lastly, we give the interpretation of how the guardian’s violence is justified endogenously.","PeriodicalId":427099,"journal":{"name":"Institutions & Transition Economics: Theoretical & Methodological Issues eJournal","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133612749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research designs should be unbiased so that researchers obtain correct estimates of an underlying quantity. Empirical specifications, the actual regression run, should permit comparability so that researchers measure the same quantity across distinct studies. The first condition is covered by the causal revolution, the second is the object of this paper. Using the example of interventions providing additional information to voters, we show that unbiasedness does not imply comparability. Any two studies that employ the commonly used specification to analyze the electoral consequences of informational campaigns estimates different estimands. This holds true even after removing all external validity issue, all statistical noise, and all sources of bias. We highlight conditions to restore comparability and describe specifications that satisfy them.","PeriodicalId":427099,"journal":{"name":"Institutions & Transition Economics: Theoretical & Methodological Issues eJournal","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114436859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our empirical method offers a clear empirical test to distinguish between three models of institutional shocks. We define gradual institutional change without a major shock, institutional change imposed by a major shock, and structural breakdowns. Drawing on several case studies from a sample of 56 countries for the period 1820-2015, we identify a series of institutional shocks and construct a synthetic counterfactual scenario of long-run development in response to a shock. Our evidence suggests that the long-run impact of institutional shocks on growth and development depends on the initial and pre-shock country-level characteristics. Gradual institutional changes help foster long-run development while changes imposed by a shock produce a large but temporary deviation from the long-run growth equilibrium. By contrast, institutional breakdowns produce a permanent change of long-run growth path, and depend on the nature of the shock.","PeriodicalId":427099,"journal":{"name":"Institutions & Transition Economics: Theoretical & Methodological Issues eJournal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129745516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although economic theories predict that housing capital gains will reduce labour supply, empirical evidence from urban China revealed that house price appreciation significantly boosts homeowners' LFP. Heterogeneous analyses indicate that LFP behaviour is more likely to be affected by house price appreciation for female and younger homeowners. Furthermore, homeowners living in provinces with greater house price appreciation tend to be more active in job participation than those living in provinces with lower price appreciation.","PeriodicalId":427099,"journal":{"name":"Institutions & Transition Economics: Theoretical & Methodological Issues eJournal","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122604689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
