Transients due to energization of capacitor banks has been considered for the analysis. In the proposed methodology, the HS-transform is employed to generate the instantaneous frequency vectors for S-matrix of the simulated transient signals. Using the statistical features of S-matrix vectors, the occurrence of transient is easily distinguished from the normal condition and from the other disturbance conditions by employing ANN algorithm. The advantage of the proposed algorithm is its accuracy in identifying the presence of transients and its classification accuracy. The performance of the proposed algorithm is manifested by the simulation of oscillatory transient event using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The test results proved that the proposed algorithm is simple, fast and more accurate in identifying the event.","PeriodicalId":426923,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power and Embedded Drive Control (ICPEDC)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115634552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, India possesses the fourth largest railway network in the world. However, in terms of the safety parameters, we have not yet reached truly global standards. On analysis of the factors that cause these rail accidents, recent statistics reveal that approximately 60% of all the rail accidents have derailments as their cause, of which about 90% is due to cracks on the rails. The current method implemented for detection of track deformations to low speeds of around 20-30 kmph with high false indications, which limits the viability of testing many tracks regularly. To ensure safe, smooth and comfortable running of the vehicles over the track, track deformations have to observed and recorded. Amongst various deformations, track level and track gauge are those deformations which lead to unusual movement of a train coach in horizontal and vertical directions. For this, an IoT application “Cloud based Oscillometer” is developed using the latest digital technology to record the hunting oscillations of the coach and then compare it with the threshold values for monitoring and predictive maintenance.","PeriodicalId":426923,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power and Embedded Drive Control (ICPEDC)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115140484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed IQBC is synthesized by interleaving two quadratic boost converters (QBC) to obtain a two phase QBC. The voltage gain of the proposed IQBC is enhanced by using a voltage lift capacitor. Since the switches employed in the proposed IQBC are operated with a phase-shift of 180°, the input current is free from ripples. Experimental results obtained from a 24V to 380V, 100W prototype converter validate the proposed gain extension and design concepts. Under full-load condition, the proposed converter operated at an efficiency of 92.5%.","PeriodicalId":426923,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power and Embedded Drive Control (ICPEDC)","volume":"177 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116044691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Diabetes self-management is an important and emerging concept in adolescent patients with type-1 diabetes known as T1D. In this type-1 patients, effective self-management has been shown to be positively associated with clinical outcomes. However, in adolescent T1D patients, self-management could be difficult because of the natural and evolving age-appropriate attitudes and biological factors. Despite intensive assistance and guidance from their parents is required, studies have shown lack of self-discipline and management resulting in higher haemoglobin A1c. Data management and active feedback involves the emerging sensor network using IOT technology, telemedicine and usage of social media in diabetes care for adolescents. This includes the Internet, cell phone applications and software such as Skype, Facebook, etc..Improvement in glucose control (measured with HbA1c) within 6 months with sustained improvement at the end of a year in a group of adolescent children and young adults (with T1D) has been demonstrated by applying social media. The approach to patient care in adolescent T1D is swiftly shifted by the rapid expansion of these technologies for the treatment of diabetes. Effective and practical tools to solve therapeutic problems are provided by these technologies and used to improve their quality of care and life.","PeriodicalId":426923,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power and Embedded Drive Control (ICPEDC)","volume":"257 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127364690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pulse number (n) of a rectifier, defined as the number of dc voltage notches corresponding to a time period of the ac source is an important index that influences several power quality parameters associated with rectification. The parameters used to assess the efficacy of ac to dc conversion encompass characteristic harmonics including the least order harmonic (LOH) and the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the input ac line currents, number of commutations undergone by the rectifier in a cycle of the ac source voltage, power factor, distortion factor, fundamental power factor (displacement factor), transformer utilization factor (TUF) on the ac side; and voltage regulation, ripple frequency, voltage harmonics, crest factor (CF), form factor (FF), ripple factor (RF), rectification factor on the dc side. The six- and twelve-pulse rectifiers are deployed extensively in many applications. While the six-pulse bridge topology is ubiquitous in ac and dc drives, welding, electroplating, electrolysis, electric vehicles etc. The twelve-pulse topology that can be obtained as a series cascade of two six-pulse bridge topologies is used in high voltage dc transmission (HVDC). In this paper, the three-pulse rectifier is analyzed from the power quality perspective and the performance parameters of the six-pulse bridge topology are derived from the series cascade of two three-pulse rectifiers. The analysis is extended to the twelve-pulse topology as well. The analyses is validated by experimental results from the three-, six-, and twelve-pulse topologies.","PeriodicalId":426923,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power and Embedded Drive Control (ICPEDC)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125094026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, different techniques adopted in real time applications for drive redundancy operation are studied. Also drive redundancy operation carried out by various manufacturers are investigated and are included in the paper. The comparisons of various types of drive redundancy operations are also explained. Out of all these techniques, HOT STANDBY (HS) option of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) is chosen and analyzed. Phase Locked Loop (PLL) techniques for analyzing the frequency and phase angle information of three phase signals are studied. Out of all the available three phase PLL, the appropriate PLL for this research is chosen and is implemented using Simulink environment. The chosen PLL is DDSRF-PLL which is used to check and correct drive synchronization dynamically. The proposed HS operation is implemented using Simulink and feasibility of the technique is studied. To keep up with the raising trends of automation, digital controller technology is employed using a low cost microcontroller to control various processes as per user requirement. This paper proposes a standalone embedded PID controller with enhanced features using an Arduino which is capable to be used for any small scale processes replacing the need of a PLC The Arduino UNO is set up in such a way that it can support plug and play functionality. The designed controller has seven variants of control schemes namely P, PI, PI with Anti-reset windup, PID, PID with anti-reset windup, Process Variable – derivative (PV-d), PV-d with anti-reset windup controllers. The real time validation of proposed closed loop control schemes is demonstrated using a series RLC circuit and the results of all variants of controller reveal that the design can achieve proper and effective control. The advantages of this design include low power consumption, simple structure and convenient installation.","PeriodicalId":426923,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power and Embedded Drive Control (ICPEDC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116600901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This technology is used for joining, cutting, shaping and welding of dissimilar metals. Due to tremendously high velocities in comparison to conventional processes, forming restrictions can be extended to several materials. This paper focuses on the effect of varying tube length on magnetic field distribution and displacement. Using simulations by adjusting tube lengths, a variety of different shapes can be obtained.
