Croatia still does not have a clear methodology for monitoring the number of homeless people and indicators of homelessness. There is a significant difference in the number of officially registered homeless people in the social welfare system and data from civil society organizations and homeless service providers. The absence of relevant data on the number of homeless people has an effect on the attitude of the profession towards the problem of homelessness and the system for organizing comprehensive care for the homeless. Also, the fact that the homeless were only defined as beneficiaries in the social welfare system for the first time in 2011 indicates that it was a social problem that was not recognized in our society for a long time. Therefore, this work aims to describe and problematize insurance in the social welfare system as a competent system for exercising rights and benefits for combating poverty and organizing the provision of assistance to socially vulnerable persons. The homeless represent one of the most vulnerable social groups, exposed to extreme poverty, risk of social exclusion, prejudice and stigma. The complexity of the problem of homelessness, the individual specificities of the homeless and the difficult access to exercising rights and social services, requires a good knowledge of the problem, sensitization and a highly individualized approach of experts in the social care system. The aim of this paper wasto gain insight into the level of environmental awareness of social work students as well as into their attitudes on green social work. A quantitative research was conducted with 349 participants, among whom there were the students of the bachelor’s and master’s degree program in social work and the students of the master’s degree in social policy and social work. The paper presents the key concepts which are the focus of this research: green social work, environmental awareness and the role of students. The results indicate that students are generally not familiarized with green social work during their studies and that more than half of the students have not heard of the term green social work at all. Environmentally friendly behavior is often present among social work students, but there is room for adopting a more favorable attitude towards water consumption and electronic devices, as well as paper products usage, recycling and the use of long-lasting products. The role of higher education in educating and awareness-raising among students about this issue is becoming a topic of interest for the development of curricula. This makes them highly vulnerable families. These shortcomings tend to be more prevalent among fathers than mothers. By identifying these shortcomings and analysing them, specific strategies can be developed to overcome them. The aim of this paper is to analyse differences between the parenting styles and coping responses of mothers and fathers registered with the Child Protection System, as perceived by the professionals from the said service. A cross-sectional study was carried out based on the perceptions of professionals attached to the Child Protection System. The findings show that the professionals deem that there are significant differences between maternal and paternal parenting models and ways of coping with stress. The mothers were viewed as having more components of appropriate parenting, while the fathers tended to use physical punishment more often. As for coping methods, the professionals observed that the mothers have more previous experience of conflicts, they spend more time preparing to tackle a problem, and they have a greater sense of being able to take possible advantage of the situation. The results point to the need to reinforce and specialize in training strategies for parents. This is because co-parenting has a positive impact on child development and boosts family functioning. The goals of the research were to investigate: the way child abuse was portrayed in Croatian newspapers, whether the journalists reported in a sensationalistic manner, how frequently they disclosed the victim’s identity or used other endangering practices. We also wanted to identify the predictors of using endangering practices. The results have shown that child abuse victims in newspaper articles were equally male and female, and that focus was mostly on the victims of physical and sexual abuse, while emotional abuse and neglect were almost invisible. The victim’sidentity was disclosed in 64.6% of the articles (although mostly indirectly). As many as 78.5% of articles highlighted at least one background information on the victim, 24.7% of the articles contained victim-blaming information, while 74.2% of the articles provided details of the abusive event, a practice that could lead to re-traumatization of the victims. This large area of research began with studies on the intergenerational transmission of Holocaust trauma from parents to children and over time expanded to include various behaviors and characteristics, including the transmission of psychopathological symptomatology and mental health problems. This paper presents an overview of relevant knowledge related to the role of parental practices and social support in the process of intergenerational transmission of risk for children’s mental health. These constructs are singled out as important in this process because they can be directly affected by appropriate psychosocial interventions. However, their specific role is still insufficiently researched or unclear due to contradictory findings. The paper highlights the methodological issues of previous research in this area, provides guidelines for further research, and discusses the possible application of the existing knowledge in psychosocial work, as well as the importance of interdepartmental cooperation in this context. In this study, the Investment Model (Rusbult, 1980) was used as a theoretical basis, where commitment is emphasized as the central construct for relationship maintenance and endurance. The aim of the study was to examine the role of psychological violence in predicting commitment and perceived relationship stability within the aforementioned model. The participants were students of the University of Zagreb (N = 154), with female students (77.9%) being more represented in the sample. The obtained results confirmed the assumptions of the basic model and all regression analyses resulted in a high percentage of explained variance of the examined criteria. The frequency of experiencing psychological violence was a significant negative predictor of commitment and perceived relationship stability, and this relationship was only partially mediated by other examined constructs. Contrary to expectations, more frequent experiencing of psychological violence also had a direct contribution in predicting less perceived relationship stability. The paper discusses the meaning of individual mediation effects and their contribution to explaining the relationships between the investigated constructs. Self-reported measures were used on a sample of 507 Belgrade secondary school students (42.1% male) to examine the moderating effect of gender on the relationship of parental monitoring (the Scale of Parental Monitoring), parental attachment (the Inventory of Parents and Peer Attachment, IPPA), and parental practice (the Alabama Parenting Questionnaire) with externalising problems (aggressive and rule-breaking behaviour) (ASEBA, YSR). The research results show gender differences in rule-breaking behaviour, externalising problems and some parenting variables. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed significant predictors of aggressive behaviour, rule-breaking behaviour and externalising problems, whereby poor monitoring displayed the strongest relations with all of the criteria. The moderating effect of gender was identified in explaining the links between communication with the mother, positive parenting and trust in the father with rule-breaking behaviour. The research results were discussed in the context of the protective relationship in the father-son and mother-daughter dyads for rule-breaking behaviour. The research was conducted by one-time research on the type of so-called draft »cross-section« at one point in time (spring 2020.) by survey method and on a random, proportional, stratified sample of 350 Roma women from 12 isolated Roma settlements in Međimurje County. There was a very high prevalence of exposure to all forms of domestic violence against women among Romani women, with 69,1% of Romani women surveyed saying they had experienced at least one form of violence (physical, psychological, sexual, and/or economic) at least once in their lives. By analyzing the collected responses on exposure to certain forms from each of the four groups of violence, new variables were formed by isolating all those Roma women who at least once or more often over time, and at least once experienced at least one form from each violence group. 61.,7% of Romani women have been exposed to some form of psychological violence at least once in their lives, 50.,3% of Romani women have been exposed to some form of physical violence at least once in their lives, 22.,3% of Romani women have been exposed to some form of economic violence at least once in their lives and to some form of sexual violence have been exposed 17.,1% of Roma women have been exposed to some form of sexual violence.
