Clinical presentation include fever, rash, irritability, lethargy, seizures, diarrhea and feeding difficulties. The outcome can be variable and some patients may require intensive care. Usually there are no important alterations in blood test results. The absence of CSF pleocytosis is common in HPeV infections and the diagnosis is confirmed by molecular tests. Genotype 3 of HPeV is known to have particular neurotropism. Some infants develop serious neurodevelopmental sequelae. The main purpose of the work is to assess the impact of art therapy classes on the development of children with MPD. Observations were carried out during the rehabilitation of children with MPD by the method of art therapy at the UMB Clinical Hospital in Bialystok. Art therapy is associated with the prevention of life difficulties, and in the event of their occurrence with a reduction in their weight and overcoming obstacles in the situational and overall life, perspective. The main goal of art therapy is to enable class participants to change their personal development by using specific artistic means in safe conditions. The use of art therapy helps to recognize cognitive and developmental needs, relieve internal tensions and frustrations, has an impact on improving or maintaining health and quality of life. It is addressed to each age group. The causes of malignant neoplasms occurring in both children and adolescents remain unknown, however epidemiological and genetic studies allow a partial elucidation of the origin of these tumors. In the first year of life, neuroblastoma, nephroblastoma and retinoblastoma are the most common. Between the ages of 2 and 5, acute lymphoblastic leukemia is at its peak. Brain tumors are most common in children under 5 years of age. On the other hand, adolescents aged 10-14 years suffer from lymphomas and bone tumors. Aim. The aim of the article is to discuss the epidemiology of selected neoplastic diseases (morbidity and hospitalization) in children and adolescents from the Silesian Voivodeship in 2010-2019. ES is a rare situation that represents up to 7% of autoimmune haemolytic anaemia (AIHA) and around 2% of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). The syndrome is characterized by a chronic, relapsing, and potentially fatal course requiring long-term immunosuppressive therapy. Treatment is based on corticosteroids and immunoglobulin injections depending on how the disease begins. Second-line treatment for refractory ES includes rituximab, mofetil mycophenolate, cyclosporine, vincristine, azathioprine, sirolimus and thrombopoietin receptor agonists. In order to promote natural breastfeeding and increase awareness of this matter number of initiatives have been taken. However, the aspect of mother’s nutrition during lactation has been overlooked too frequently. Aim. The aim of this paper was an analysis of the parents’ of children aged up to 12 months staying in the Paediatric Hospital knowledge of mother’s nutrition during breastfeeding. Also, the subject of an analysis was an issue whether gender, age, place of residence or education of parents had influenced the knowledge of mother’s nutrition during breastfeeding. Material and methods. The research was conducted in the Paediatric Hospital. The original questionnaire consisting of 18 questions regarding the mother’s nutrition principles during breastfeeding was used as a research tool. Results. Parents who participated in the research have a knowledge of woman’s nutrition during lactation. Women more frequently than men are aware of advised water requirements for breastfeeding mother generally. Some of the surveyed parents expressed a belief that some groups of products should be eliminated from the diet of breastfeeding women. Conclusions. 1. There is an unfounded belief expressed by the respondents that some groups of food should be absolutely avoided during lactation (legume, products that cause flatulence, fried products and spicy food). 2. Gender, age, place of residence as well as parent’s education do not influence the knowledge of the breastfeeding mother’s diet. 3. Too frequent, unfounded restricting a diet may lead to resignation from natural breastfeeding by young mother. 4. Allergic diseases are the most common chronic diseases in the developmental age population. In Poland, more than 20% of the child population is ill. Chronic allergic rhinitis is one of the most common (in Poland in 13% 6-7 year olds and 16.7% 13-14 year olds) chronic diseases in children. The epidemiology of bronchial asthma in Poland among schoolchildren is about 8% and in the world it is between 2 and 30%. Aim. The continuing percentage of postural statics disorders may have its roots in the method of carrying the loads of school supplies. Aim. The aim of the study was to show the effects of the load of the container with school supplies carried obliquely on the left shoulder and right hip or on the right shoulder and left hip in the sagittal and transverse planes on the posture. Material and methods. Body posture tests were carried out on a group of 65 pupils aged 7 years, using the projection moire method in four positions: 1-the habitual posture, 2 – the posture after a 10-minute asymmetric loading, 3 – the posture assumed one minute after removing the load, 4 - two minutes after taking the load off. Physical fitness was measured with the Sekita test. The analysis included the values of posture features to determine the significance of their differences and correlation with physical fitness to determine its relationship with the size of these differences. Conclusions. (1) The mode of carrying school items obliquely on the right or left shoulder and on different hips may cause significant adaptation changes in the skeletal and muscular system. It should be assumed that the bigger these changes are, the longer the carriage time is, the greater the mass of the container and the intensity of physical effort are. The changes are not gender specific. The analyzed carriage method should not be practiced among 7-year-old children of both sexes. (2) The overall fitness level shows a diversified relationship with changes in the values of postural traits as a result of the assumed carriage of school supplies. This relationship is bigger among boys. In case of girls, correlations are observed between endurance and the size of the inclination angle of the thoracic-lumbar spine. Among boys, all the features of physical fitness correlate most often with asymmetry of convexity of the lower angles of shoulder blades and the pelvic torsion in the transverse plane. Health condition is one of the basic factors determining the quality of life of children and adolescents. Childhood ill health is especially dangerous as it can interfere with developmental processes and lead to long-term and permanent health problems. Health problems that cause hospitalization are mainly childhood diseases, which, due to the course or accompanying complications, require hospital treatment. The most common reasons for hospitalizing children and adolescents in children are respiratory infections, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and mental diseases. Aim. The aim of the article is to present the most frequent hospitalizations of children and adolescents from various cities of the Silesian Voivodeship in 2010-2018. Material and methods. The research material is data from the Silesian Voivodeship Office in Katowice – Department of Health. Results. The hospitalization rate for bronchial asthma is increasing in Bielsko-Biała and Sosnowiec. In Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Sosnowiec and Zabrze, the number of children hospitalized due to mental disorders is increasing. Conclusions. Hospitalization due to neoplastic diseases is variable in all the discussed cities of the Silesian Voivodeship. One of the basic elements of health policy is having knowledge about the health condition of the population of children and adolescents and its wider health needs. The patient was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease in 3rd stage, which significantly reduces the chances of complete recovery from the initial stage of diagnosis. Symptoms reported by the boy, such as cough, subfebrile states, decreased well-being, itchy rash, if present alone, are not pathognomonic for any disease, however, occurring simultaneously with characteristic abnormalities in the scope of physical examination, may help in faster diagnosis and initiation of proper treatment. This is especially important in times of pandemic, when most medical advice is provided by phone. {"title":"PIMS-TS – co o nim wiemy","authors":"Katarzyna Lech-Badłak","doi":"10.25121/np.2020.24.2.19","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.25121/np.2020.24.2.19","url":null,"abstract":"Peadiatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome associated with COVID-19 is a new term that describes the COVID-19-associated multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children, which appeared in medical terminology with the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The connection with a past SARS-CoV-2 infection can usually be demonstrated by means of laboratory and molecular tests. The course of the disease is associated with dysfunction of the immune system, hence the clinical picture may be very similar to Kawasaki disease (initially this syndrome was called 'Kawasaki disease-like'). Cardiac complications, including heart failure, were also observed in PIMS. Therefore, cardiological diagnostics is necessary in every child diagnosed with PIMS. Moreover, it should be noted that a patient diagnosed with PIMS should be under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of doctors. Both the treatment od PIMS and the clinical picture are similar to the treatment of Kawasaki disease. It is mainly based on the use of intravenous immunoglobulin, anticoagulants, and sometimes also glucocorticosteroids.
