This is aimed at simplifying the complexity in handling the communications between billions of objects to the benefits of the humans. Whereas several IoT platforms are already available, the SIoT paradigm has represented only a field for pure research and simulations, until now. The aim of this paper is to present our implementation of a SIoT platform. We begin by analyzing the major IoT implementations, pointing out their common characteristics that could be re-used for our goal. We then discuss the major extensions we had to introduce on the existing platforms to introduce the functionalities of the SIoT. We also present the major functionalities of the proposed system: how to register a new social object to the platform, how the system manages the creation of new relationships, and how the devices create groups of members with similar characteristics. We conclude with the description of possible simple application scenarios.","PeriodicalId":425979,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115561461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is one of 4G standards and specified in 3GPP. In an LTE system, home base station (HeNB) is designed for indoor usage. Since packets are always routed back to the core network before to destination, if two user equipments (UEs) stay in the same HeNB, the routing path is detour and results in longer packet delivery delay, jitters and thus lower data throughput. As a result, the idea of local IP Access (LIPA) was drawn and two solutions have been proposed. However, the two solutions would suffer from poor voice quality in a VoIP application. We propose a novel solution which establishes an additional data radio bearer (DRB) between UE and HeNB to detect local packets. Once local packets are detected, the data radio bearer is then responsible for local packet delivery. Simulation results show that our method outperforms the other two solutions in terms of packet delivery delay and mean opinion score (MOS).","PeriodicalId":425979,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116155959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective of IaaS providers is to obtain maximal profits and guarantee QoS requirements of customers at the same time. In this paper, we propose a cooperative game algorithm that helps the resource allocation decision-making process with a flexible resource amount of the total federation. This algorithm also takes the QoS constraints into account and provides two different approaches for cost-sensitive or time-sensitive customers. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves various QoS requirements and increases the satisfaction level of customer's requests.","PeriodicalId":425979,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing","volume":"602 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116451657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because MANET is a self-configuring infrastructure less network of mobile devices connected by wireless and can be effectively deployed during disaster recovery, it improves rescue efforts following a disaster. Most important, it can be used for the searching of survivors using the location tracking based on RSS measurement in consideration of the inadequate environment of GPS and a distance-estimation is effective method. However the RSS measurement is so vague, it is so difficult to use the searching by using only pure RSSI reading. The key points for the searching are the RSSI Calibration and the RSSI difference detection (RDD). The PLE is a key parameter in the distance-estimation based on RSS measurement and there is a weak point that must be required pre-measurement to estimate the PLE using access points or anchor nodes which are aware of the distance. The RDD is important to approach and there is a weak point to detect quite-variable caused by multipath fading in live network. This paper proposes the way of approaching the target station seen as survivor by means of the RSSI Calibration and RDD without pre-measurement. The weak points are solved by using moving distance in place of the known distance for the PLE estimation. Using the reset counter which keeps a moving direction until exceeding is an indication for changing the direction. We evaluated that it is possible to show the ability of approaching the target station based on the RSSI Calibration and reset counter using the RSSI readings and moving distance. Our results show that GPS-free host approaching in MANET performs effectively and this can enhance to approach survivors for rescue efforts.","PeriodicalId":425979,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123703346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Active Shape Model (ASM) is one of the most popular local texture models for face detection. This paper addresses issues related to face detection and implements an efficient extraction algorithm for facial landmarks suitable for use on mobile devices. The original ASM was modified to enhance its performance (1) improving the initialization model using the center of the eyes by utilizing a feature ma of RGB color information, (2) building a modified model definition and fitting more landmarks than the classical ASM, and (3) extending and building a 2-D profile model for detecting faces in input images. The new scheme was evaluated on experimental test set containing over 500 images of faces and found to successfully extract facial features, clearly outperforming the original ASM.","PeriodicalId":425979,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128569716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, one that fits all kinds of scenarios and applications does not exist for now. Insufficient forwarding nodes and network congestion can both bring severe degradation to the performance of routing protocols in VANETs. In this paper, we propose an adaptive strategy based on the combination of these two situation and then apply this strategy to Location-Aided Routing (LAR) protocol to keep the routing performance from degradation. In the adaptive strategy we use the Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) to establish the control function which can accommodate message transmission to the circumstances dynamically. Theoretical analysis and simulation performance prove that this strategy can improve the packet delivery ratio (PDR) of LAR protocol effectively.","PeriodicalId":425979,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing","volume":"184 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132829149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, LDA-based face recognition algorithm for the intelligent surveillance system is proposed. While the existing face recognition algorithm uses the short distance images for training images but the proposed algorithm uses face images by distance extracted from 1m to 5m for training images. In the proposed LDA-based long distance face recognition algorithm, bilinear interpolation uses for the normalization and Euclidean Distance measure method is used for similarity measure. As a result of experiment, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm showed improved face recognition performance 6.1% in short distance and 31% in long distance.","PeriodicalId":425979,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing","volume":"7 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131437451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
