In this paper, we focus primarily on dataflow representations to enable flexibility and reconfigurability in many of the baseband algorithms. Dataflow modeling will be important to provide a layer of abstraction and will be applied to generate flexible baseband representations for cognitive radio testbeds, including the Rice WARP platform. As RF frequency agility and reconfiguration for carrier aggregation are important goals for 4G LTE Advanced systems, we also focus on dataflow analysis for digital predistortion algorithms. A new design method called parameterized multidimensional design hierarchy mapping (PMDHM) is presented, along with initial speedup results from applying PMDHM in the mapping of channel estimation onto a GPU architecture.","PeriodicalId":425536,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115864630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, secondary users are allowed to opportunistically operate when primary users are absent and buy idle bands from primary users. Although it improves the spectrum utility to some extents, it is not enough. In this paper, we argue that spectrum hole should be endogenous which means they should be negotiated by primary and secondary users. We proposed a novel spectrum sharing scheme with spectrum usage and management right. Further, we suggest spectrum trading as a financial option to capture the realistic usage and increase the trading flexibility. We show the superior of our model for primary users in deterministic and dynamic leasing environments.","PeriodicalId":425536,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128110907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since generic practical codebook designs are not known when TBF is applied for interference mitigation purposes, a randomly generated codebook is used as a simple way to provide a lower bound performance for any efficient (deterministic) codebook design. Closed-form expressions for the rate performance are derived when altruistic TBF is applied to mitigate interference with different number of transmit antennas and feedback bit resolutions. Our analysis reveals that the use of additional feedback bits has potential to provide more performance gain at lower outage probability regimes (when compared to higher outage probability ones). In addition, for random codebooks with a fixed number of feedback bits, the number of transmit antennas does not have a notable effect on the interference mitigation capability of an altruistic TBF scheme.","PeriodicalId":425536,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132524558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is assumed that the transmitter pulse shaping filter is known to the cognitive receiver. And, flat fading channels with synchronous and asynchronous receiver scenarios are considered. For each of these scenarios, the proposed detector is explained as follows: First, by introducing a combiner vector over-sampled signals with total duration equal to the symbol period are combined linearly. Second, for this combined signal the Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) maximization and minimization problems are formulated as Rayleigh quotient optimization problems. Third, by using the solutions of these problems, the ratio of the energy of the combined signals corresponding to the maximum and minimum SNRs are proposed as the test statistics For these test statistics, analytical probability of false alarm (Pf) and probability of detection (Pd) expressions are derived for additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. It is shown that these detectors are robust against noise variance uncertainty Moreover, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed detectors achieve better detection performance compared to tha of the well known energy detector in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels with noise variance uncertainty. The proposed detectors also guarantee the prescribed Pf(Pd) in the presence of adjacent channel interference signals.","PeriodicalId":425536,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127219488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The selfish behaviors of the secondary users (SUs) will cause a CRN to collapse. The SUs are thus enabled to build beliefs about how other SUs would respond to their decision makings. The interaction among the SUs is modeled as a stochastic learning process. In this way, each SU can independently learn the behaviors of the competitors, optimize the OSA strategies, and finally achieve the goal of reciprocity. Two learning algorithms are proposed to stabilize the stochastic CRNs, the convergence properties of which are also proven theoretically. Simulation results validate the performance of the proposed results, and show that the achieved system performance outperforms some existing protocols.","PeriodicalId":425536,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks","volume":"2009 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125654086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The generated interference from different types of secondary networks can be controlled by adjusting different parameters. The carrier sensing threshold can be used as a common parameter to control the density of active secondary users in wireless networks with contention control thereby enabling primary system protection. In this paper, we propose a method to set the carrier sensing threshold in secondary wireless networks with finite user density and finite deployment area. Based on the secondary user density, we first find the required distance separation among secondary transmitters so that the primary system service is protected. Given the distance separation, we set the carrier sensing threshold by computing the self-interference at a secondary user. Our method is illustrated for Matern type II and Matern type III point processes for modelling the locations of active secondary users due to the resemblance of these processes to CSMA/CA type of contention control.","PeriodicalId":425536,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123379540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
