Co-investment, like mobile network sharing is a cost efficiency enabler that may accelerate price decrease, may allow earlier, higher coverage and may improve capacity and quality parameters, like download speed, therefore altogether contributes to social welfare increase. The purpose of this paper to assess the Hungarian mobile network sharing that not cleared by the competition regulator, however has been placed in unchanged form for 8 years. The research question is to assess what is the connection between mobile network sharing and social welfare improvement at 4G - 5G mobile broadband rollout. The finding is that, majority of network sharing procompetitive effects allowing benefits, but anticompetitive effects not causing marked distortion. Affordable connectivity prices for information society roots in operators’ cost efficiency, however further research required to assess proper level of efficiency gains pass through to customers and appropriate level of access pricing to shared infrastructure for other rival operators in Hungary. Mobile Network Sharing’s benefits may outweigh potential drawbacks, but due to lack of regulatory clearance, 5G rollout launched without sharing, causing social welfare loss. The originality of the empirical research is despite network sharing not cleared, procompetitive advantages may outweigh anticompetitive ones.","PeriodicalId":42504,"journal":{"name":"Infocommunications Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82172301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Extending the concept of IoT and IoE, IoD includes all kinds of entities interacting in virtual reality, focusing not only on the technology, physical and logical networks, but also on cognitive aspects and human factors. The Metaverse – as a key element of IoD – was introduced and has lately been re-vitalized as a kind of vision for the future of the Internet, especially focusing on social media, where users interact via their avatars in a fully immersive VR scenario. In this paper, I nevertheless argue that IoD is more than a “VR Facebook”, and that although the Metaverse can offer a new kind of experience, it isn’t free from drawbacks and valid criticisms.","PeriodicalId":42504,"journal":{"name":"Infocommunications Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90638511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on this, we tried to research the possible benefits of using gamification technics in 3D virtual collaboration environments to increase virtual team members' motivation. In recent years, one of the promising scheme is Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA), where, unlike the traditional Orthogonal Multiple Access, OMA solution, signals for the different users overlap in some domain (power-domain NOMA, code-domain NOMA, etc). In order to evaluate the performance of any NOMA scheme, we need to compare the achievable bit rates of the users (the capacity region) to an OMA case with comparable parameters (for example, same total bandwidth, same total power and same channel conditions, etc). To make this comparison, we first need to know the capacity region for the OMA cases. Many papers make such comparison without detailing the derivation of the capacity region of the OMA case they compare to [1], [2], [3], [4]. In some cases, we have only one free parameter to choose (for example in uplink frequency division multiplexing systems for two users, it is the bandwidth ratio between the users), and the achievable capacity can be directly calculated for both users depending on the single parameter (hence the boundary of the capacity region is trivial). In other cases, such as downlink frequency division multiplexing systems, even for only two users, we have to allocate optimally two resources between the users: the bandwidth and the base station’s available power. Hence, it is far from being trivial to determine which combination is better and where the boundary of the capacity region is. In this paper, we provide a derivation for that case.","PeriodicalId":42504,"journal":{"name":"Infocommunications Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74524478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, such areas present spaces of interaction among users; they send more messages and posts showing domains they are interested in to guarantee the level of their popularity. This popularity depends on its own rate, the number of comments the posted topic gets but; also on the cost a user has to pay to accomplish his task on this network. However, the selfish behavior of those subscribers is the root cause of competition over popularity among those users. In this paper, we aim to control the behavior of a social networks users who try their best to increase their popularity in a competitive manner. We formulate this competition as a non-cooperative game. We porpose an efficient game theoretical model to solve this competition and find a situation of equilibrium for the said game.","PeriodicalId":42504,"journal":{"name":"Infocommunications Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74650631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rapid technical development makes it possible to increase cognitive ability in various fields; mobility is one of the most affected. Mobility has become a multidimensional concept in our interpretation; in addition to transportation, it also appears in the digital space, among other dimensions. The 21st century has brought unprecedented challenges, such as the covid-19 virus and the Russian war in Ukraine. These highlight bottlenecks in mobility systems and prompted us to explore the concept of cognitive mobility. This paper intends to refine the CogMob approach, which co-manages human and machine capabilities in mobility. New achievements within CogMob's domain match the new challenges of war and viruses. This article aims to outline the field of cognitive mobility. The IEEE 802.1AS-2020 used for synchronization in TSN networks is based on the IEEE 1588-2019 standard (also known as Precision Time Protocol, PTP) defines methods and tools to perform sub-microsecond time synchronization over vari- ous communication channels. However, the IEEE 1588 implementation is commonly used with wired communication protocols, although there are use cases that could gain an advantage from a wireless solution. This paper investigates the possibility of PTP clock synchronization through wireless Ultra Wideband (UWB) communication. UWB excels where other wireless technologies are lacking: it provides high accuracy timestamping even if multipath propagation is present. The method is evaluated using commercial, well-accessible cheap hardware, resulting in the order of 10-nanosecond accuracy. The paper also highlights the main error components and requirements for improving wireless PTP synchronization.","PeriodicalId":42504,"journal":{"name":"Infocommunications Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88626273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additionally, the fact that vulnerable IoT devices are beyond the network’s control makes them susceptible to being compromised and used as bots or part of botnets, leading to a surge in attacks involving these devices in recent times. We proposed a real-time IoT anomaly detection and mitigation solution at the programmable data plane in a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) environment using Inband Network telemetry (INT) data to address this issue. As far as we know, it is the first experiment in which INT data is used to detect IoT attacks in the programmable data plane. Based on our performance evaluation, the detection delay of our proposed approach is much lower than the results of previous Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) research, and the detection accuracy is similarly high.","PeriodicalId":42504,"journal":{"name":"Infocommunications Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74717648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
