Girls' education is both an intrinsic right and a critical lever to reaching other development objectives. Education is one of the most critical areas of empowerment for women. Among children not attending school there are twice as many girls as boys, and among illiterate adults there are twice as many women as men. It includes areas of gender equality and access to education. This meta-analytic review intends to critical study of the research work carried out in India in last 15 years on educational problems of girls living in various parts in India available on open database sources. Some of the studies have major focus on girls living in tribal areas. Researcher herself experienced that girls living in rural areas have fewer opportunities for education than boys. No study has been found to know the basic reason for the said problem. The researcher could not find any research done in Gujarat state based on the said topic. After analysing the findings, it was found that the attitude of parents is biased towards the education of girls. Few of the researchers found that social norms and behaviour such as child marriage, poverty, child labour were the reasons for low literacy in girls. Studies on tribal girls revealed that unfriendly treatment, feeling of insecurity and lack of awareness among parents, belief that education will create problem for them at the time of marriage were the major berriers for the girls education.","PeriodicalId":424872,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management and Development Studies","volume":"125 16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130722439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper is written from the perspective of journalism students who make observations about the impact social media has had on the profession in Zambia based on their assessment. The essay uses published literature and gives examples from the Zambian social media space on just how social media continues to affect journalism practice in the Zambian context. It seeks to add to the growing scholarship and debate on social media and how it has been applied or misapplied in the local context, while drawing from global scholarship as well. The paper shows how there is need for journalism to embrace the idea that the use of social media is at the present inevitable. However, it is important that training and skills development initiative on how to best use social media is enhanced. Overall, social media offers opportunities for journalists in Zambia to better engage with audiences, share factual news and information in a timely way, and to amplify the voices of the country’s marginalised voices. The need for responsible and reasonable use of social media cannot be over emphasized.","PeriodicalId":424872,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management and Development Studies","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124982676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, the present study tries to understand the nature of emerging partnerships between NGOs and the corporate sector, the motivational factors and different dimensions from the NGO perspective. It is a descriptive exploratory study based on the purposively selected NGOs in Mysore and Bangalore districts of Karnataka. The study reveals that NGOs are engaging with companies mainly for accessing financial resources. Since the companies are having control over finances, companies lead the partnerships. There is good communication between NGOs and their business partners. Transformative changes are observed in some NGOs by improving their capabilities. The major source of income in the Santrampur Tehsil was generated from agriculture and the allied sector. However, in 1979, the government constructed a dam on their agricultural land and provided fishing as a livelihood option. The dam, initially controlled via the cooperative model, was later privatized. To understand the dynamics between these multi-progned interventions, the study uses qualitative and quantitative data collection approaches followed by a participatory rural appraisal. The study reveals the impact of the government’s decision to privatize the dam on the tribal community. It further studies its relevance to livelihood sustainability and community development among the tribes. Moreover, the study will help in policy-making and conducting future research on other tribal communities in different Indian regions to evaluate the efficacy of government interventions.","PeriodicalId":424872,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management and Development Studies","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127427520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
