Augmented reality has been rapidly evolving ever since smart mobile phones became equipped with hardware and software which support AR application development. In educational AR current findings suggest that the best approach to application development is iterative co-design with teachers. That approach is incorporated into design of AuGeo by conducting a teacher focus group interview which is discussed and analyzed in the paper.","PeriodicalId":424325,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings ELMAR-2014","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126223341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the past decades, several techniques were proposed for visual navigation of mobile robots, relying on different kind of sensors and algorithms: sonar sensors, laser stripes, and stereo vision are commonly used techniques. Even if these techniques are well-established and used in commercial robots, different and better sensors are now widespread, such as depth sensors. This work proposes an algorithm based on the use of an active 3D depth sensor for obstacle detection and avoidance. The algorithm, conceived to be used in embedded systems with low processing power, underwent several experiments and proved to be robust to Gaussian white noise.","PeriodicalId":424325,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings ELMAR-2014","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130566590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of Line-of-Sight MIMO uses the spatial separation of radio antennas to create different propagation paths between the same locations and thus allows multiple transmissions over the same radio channel. Combining different antenna schemes provides certain flexibility in designing the system in the “controlled” environment, which makes LOS MIMO a great method for increasing the achievable link capacity within the same frequency channel. Hence it provides great advantages for the operators and significant spectrum efficiency increase. However, there are still some open regulatory issues that are currently under discussion. Some of the possible implications of the LOS MIMO concept deployment on the regulatory framework (in terms of frequency planning, licensing, fees etc.) have been presented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":424325,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings ELMAR-2014","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128471890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The combination is performed at the feature level or the systems are exchanging informations between each other during decoding process or are combined afterwards using their outputs in form of N-best hypothesis or lattices. This paper provides initial experiments with system combination for Slovak language speech recognition using well known combination tool, the Recognition Output Voting Error Reduction (ROVER) from National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Two kinds of scores provided to ROVER are here explored. The first one is based on normalized posterior probabilities and the second one on confidence scores of words in recognized sentence.
