Investigations of technical possibilities to use electric vehicles (ev) and so called plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (phevs), containing a relevant amount of storage capacity, as storage systems are inalienable. Within the limits given by the car's battery management system consumption-driven charge and discharge signals could be used for effective integration in future V2G systems. This paper will give a detailed overview about a concept for bi-directional charging and first test results.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"223 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115315089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The significant disadvantage on electric driving is the storing problem of the electrical energy. Electrical power supply on the route gives an elegant opportunity to solve this problem. Based on inductive power transmission a more advanced solution is represented by a wireless underground energy supply. Due to this concept a smaller and less costly onboard electricity storage unit is required. If the infrastructure exists it is obvious to use it also for other lighter vehicle categories as passenger cars and delivery trucks. Within this publication the research methodology, the vehicle technology as well as a concept for the charging infrastructure in the city center of Vienna will be presented.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126014511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially in serial production, drive systems are oversized including electric motors, frequency inverters and shaft drives. But also in special plant engineering, where multiple drive systems are connected to one intermediate circuit, the individual operating loads cannot be assessed. Subsequently, performance, operating points and energy efficiency are suboptimal. Economic disadvantages, such as the necessity of higher investments and increased operational costs, are associated. Therefore an approach to active power measurement behind the frequency inverter to separate the power consumption profiles of spindle and axis drives is necessary. In this paper two systems for an active power measurement for variable frequency drives are discussed. One of them has been developed by the authors themselves with the advantage of lower cost compared to commercially available systems. The systems were analyzed for performance, accuracy, installation effort and costs. The investigated active power measurement systems provide basic data for an optimal dimensioning of drive systems for industrial equipment manufacturers.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131494527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These transmission errors cause non-desirable gear pair vibrations at mesh frequency that generate airborne sound. An active control system to suppress gear pair vibrations due to transmission error excitation is presented. The proposed controller is an adaptive feed-forward controller based on the filtered-x LMS algorithm. In contrast to previous approaches the proposed controller acts directly on the desired torque input of the torque controller of an electronically commutated motor. Therefore this approach does not require additional actuators. An electronically commutated PMSM driving a single stage helical gear set is considered. In this case one of the gears is rigidly connected to the rotor of the PMSM. Analyses have been made in simulation with a two-degree-of-freedom model with a time-varying spring stiffness and a viscous damper. Results showed the control structure to be very effective in reducing gear pair vibrations. In simulation the dynamic transmission error was reduced by -74 dB.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133897965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additionally, they need to have the ability for off-grid operation in combination with other generation systems as well as for changing the operation mode and synchronizing the island grid while running. This article describes implemented concepts for the grid-side inverter control of an established electric drive system. Its microgrid functionality is demonstrated by a shaft-generator application used in ships.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129425663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In contrast to wired power interfaces, user-friendly and secure wireless links with no physical contact are preferable. Especially in the higher power range (>100kW), three-phase approaches are an encouraging alternative to single-phase systems due to great EMC benefits. While compensation of single-phase systems is comparatively simple, the static tuning procedure is much more complex for three-phase systems. Aggravating, system parameter drifts arising from slightly mismatched positioning and thermal influences shift the systems current working point away from the optimal one for which the whole system is tuned statically. As an essential base, in a first part this paper introduces an appropriate approach for the static tuning of a three-phase system and discusses the effects of parameter drifts on the pickup. Based on the static tuning, concept ideas for an automatic retuning of the pickup during operation are presented in the second part.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"76 26","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134196980","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents fundamental investigations concerning the weldability of electrical steel, and an approach for the mechanical characterization of the weld seam. Through an integrated view of the independent variables: process, design and material, the limits of weldability could be expanded. Moreover a significant increase in material strength due to the laser welding process is shown. These perceptions provide fundamental insight for the design of weld seams on electrical steel laminations.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124813737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the optimization of these processes is often only based on the product quality, in practice a lot of consecutive heating up and cooling down phases can be observed leading to strongly varying temperature curves. Thus, high energy needs as well as long throughput times have to be approved. In order to overcome these obstacles and to optimize the products' temperature curves the Institute for Factory Automation and Production Systems developed a simulative approach on the basis of the program Tecnomatix Plant Simulation. The implemented Temperature Module is hereby not only able to track a product's temperature through the whole simulated production chain. It as well communicates with the energy module presented in [6] and [7]. This enables the possibility to calculate energy needs on the basis of the actual product temperature. For that purpose an example located in the field of electric stator manufacturing is investigated.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127658640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Replacing natural materials like tar and rubber, industrial produced polymers quickly spread amongst all major components and manufacturing steps of electric machines. Today, thermosetting resins are mainly used within the disciplines of insulation and fixation of materials, manifesting in wire enamels, impregnation varnishes, potting resins and thermally curing adhesives. As broad as their manifestations are the challenges around these products. Thermal curing generally uses an excessive amount of energy when being conducted by oven heating or infrared radiation. Alternative and particularly energy-efficient technologies are available, but have yet to be investigated from a scientific perspective. Within the research project E|Solation, the FAPS institute has aimed to investigate inductive heating technology as an energy-saving method for thermosetting resin and powder coat curing to create insulating layers within an automated and flexible production of electric drives. Saving potential in the context of electrical sheet laminations has shown to be as high as up to 95% of electrical energy. In order to determine the value of this technology, simulative as well as empiric investigations have to be made to create a better understanding of how inductive heating of sheet lamination works and to determine feasibility and integration into current production processes.","PeriodicalId":423456,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117166445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
