And if R is calculated for all wells in a given area (or a study area), the Equi-Correlation-Coefficient curves can be constructed on the map throughout the study area. Then, from these curves, the Equi-Correlation-Coefficient map of the water table can be drawn. This map suggests that the water table depth in most of the study area can be approximately estimated by using the data obtained from the base well.","PeriodicalId":422881,"journal":{"name":"THE JOURNAL OF THE JAPANESE ASSOCIATION OF GROUNDWATER HYDROLOGY","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1970-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125971594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Introbuction Because the temperature of water and soil directly effects the growth of cr6ps; it is important to know the temperature of water, including shallow groundwater, as well as to know its quantity. Therefore a lot of investigations have been undertaken concerning this problem. Some have tried to construct an equation to calculate the value of soil temperature. For example, AZUMA\") constructed a linear equation to calculate the yearly average temperature of soil from the yearly average air temperature. General Aspect of the Sen-En Area This report describes the general status of geology and underground water of the SenEn area which has made a remarkable industrial progress. The Sen-En Coastal Industrial Area locates in the plain overlooking the Pacific Ocean with Shiogama Port as its center. It includes Sendai City , Tagajo Town, Shiogama City, Shichigahama Village, Nanakita Village, etc. The geology of this area consists of Triassic Rifu formation and Neogene Tertiary in the hilly part, while in the plains it consists of Quaternary lowland deposit . Most of the industrial water is supplied by the deep underground water from Pliocene and Miocene sandstone and conglomerate. The writer would like to express his heart-felt thanks to the members of the Tohoku Boring Association (President—Mr. Masao Terashima) who were so generous in offering their cooperation toward this project. II. Outline of Geology and Hydrology Sendai-Shiogama coastal industrial area is divided into following 4 districts : ( 1 ) Sendai District : Nakae ; Nigat4ce ; Nagamachi Iwakiri areas ( 2 ) Tagajo District ( 3 ) Shiogama District ( 4 ) Yogasaki District 1. Sendai District : (a) Nakae area Terrace (Sendai Middle Terrace) area near the hills (Miocene Tsunaki formation) has a number of major and minor industries and hospitals such as Tobacco Manufacturing Factory of Japan Monopoly Corporation ; Municipal Coal Factory Kirin Beer Brewery ; Meiji Dairy Products Factory, Haranomachi Hospital ; Agricultural Experiment Station, etc., and most of them depend upon the water through the deep wells .
