The PASSION application uses Wi-Fi, accelerometers, gyroscopes, QR codes, and manual entry on Android and iPhone tracking applications for ships. This paper primarily discusses supplementing the existing implementation with a new augmentation using Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE version 4.0). The characteristics of BTLE segregated ranging using Received Signal Strength measurements are explored. The sensitivity of BTLE RSS measurements to environmental factors such as placement, cases, orientation of the device, orientation of the Smartphone and intervening materials is quantified. Algorithms that employ BTLE measurements within the framework of the overall navigation positioning and tracking problem are discussed. To help manage the information, individuals need a mechanism to orchestrate the operations of the in-vehicle devices so that such frustration can be eased. In this study, the authors propose an in-vehicle communication scheme for multi-system integration, where an effective system service discovery protocol is used. This proposed design also contains mutual communication methods and the data exchange methodologies for system integration. This advancement paves the way for more data services, including improved multimedia services. Three-dimensional (3D) video transmission is one such service that can benefit from LTE deployment. For a positive uptake of 3D video transmission, the network must provide a good Quality of Service (QoS). In this paper the authors evaluate the LTE network's performance when transmitting Multi-view Video Coding (MVC) using simulcast and inter-view prediction coding. Furthermore, the authors evaluate the system using both the H.264/AVC (Advanced Video Coding) and the more recent High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) and their MVC extensions. Results show that, in an urban environment, LTE can accommodate a maximum of 93 users per cell, with adequate QoS, when transmitting 3D HEVC video at Common Intermediate Format (CIF) resolution. Moreover, cross-layer techniques can be used to reduce the QoS degradation as the user moves away from the eNodeB by transmitting lower resolution video.","PeriodicalId":422249,"journal":{"name":"Int. Various solutions have been proposed in terms of energy efficient routing via protocol development, various techniques have also been incorporated like Genetic Algorithm, Swarm Intelligence etc. The main aim of this research paper to study all the routing protocols which are energy efficient and are based on Ant Colony Optimization (ACO). This paper also highlights the pros and cons of each of routing protocol which has been developed on lines of Energy Efficiency and has also been compared among one another to find which protocol outwits one another. The main objective here is to improve quality of service by efficient channel utilization. In this paper, a new scheme called probabilistic emergency prioritization scheme (PEPS) is proposed which provides highest priority for emergency calls. The proposed method minimizes the dropping or blocking of emergency calls even if the number of emergency calls are more than 25% of the calls. There are mounting evidences that the 4G and future-generation systems will take advantage of two opposite types of access methods, one using centralized control method and the other using a distributed approach. The authors study the distributed channel allocation problem in this article, formulated as a non-linear optimization problem, in broadband wireless networks. The signal properties of the multi-carrier radio interface in 3G and 4G networks are discussed to comprehend the complexity of the channel allocation problem. The authors propose a novel distributed heuristic algorithm based on the particle-swarm searching method. The distributed approach allows user stations to quickly switch sub-carriers with minimum intervention from the base station. The work presented in this paper shows an effective method to allocate a large number of channels while minimizing the possible interference. Extensive numerical experiments are conducted to evaluate several versions of distributed channel allocation algorithm for these new problem settings. The authors' results show that PSO-based method converges quickly in all our numerical experiments despite the high-dimensional searching space. The proposed technologies will eventually allow the true mobile steaming video/audio experience anywhere and anytime, which will have the huge impact to business, entertainment and people's quality of life.","PeriodicalId":422249,"journal":{"name":"Int. The security of web services has deeply influenced its development and is also one of the main reasons why web services have not been adopted widely. Therefore, this study aims to examine the impact of web services standards and how it facilitates web services security. We analyze security models in web based technologies from previous studies such as; in cloud computing and security as a service technologies to develop a framework of web services standards and its impact on web services security. LTE-A networks offer high capacity and are specified and designed to accommodate small, high performance, power-efficient end-user devices. Similarly to its predecessor LTE, LTE-A incorporates inter-cell interference mitigation methods in order to mitigate interference and to enhance efficiency in bandwidth usage. These methods include power and frequency allocation schemes that allow neighbouring cells and femtocells in heterogeneous networks to co-ordinately share and reuse available spectral resources, in order to avoid performance degradation for interference suffering cell-edge users. In this paper, the authors study the LTE-A multi-cell systems' performance using a simulation framework, which integrates several frequency reuse techniques and provides a user-friendly graphical presentation of the evaluation results. The optimal Fractional Frequency Reuse (FFR) configuration for the user-defined network instance is also determined, based on overall performance and fairness index metrics. Finally, the authors examine FFR techniques in two-tier femtocell/macrocell environments and evaluate them based on the optimization of different metrics, depending on the network operator's needs.","PeriodicalId":422249,"journal":{"name":"Int. Such an expansion is seen as an improvement, since cross-study comparison or benchmarking cannot objectively be done without a common set of usability components being defined. The current issue lies in how these components are operationalized, measured and validated. Although ISO standards ties usability to contextual situations, recent research has started to also recognize psychographic and demographic variations within the same context. The purpose of this study is to review web site usability as it relates to ISO standards (more specifically ISO 9126, ISO 9241 and ISO/IEC 25010) and existing usability studies.
