With the development of computational tools in the second half of the 20th century, there was also the development of computational methods aimed at algorithmizing engineering tasks based on FEM. This method is very effective for determining the forces and deformations of truss and frame structures under the influence of the external environment. Many processes in the automatic design system take place as if in a \"black box\", and the process of verifying the achieved results becomes the most important stage in the design activity. Without knowing the theoretical foundations of FEM, physical and mathematical modelling, verification procedures and methods, the structure design cannot be safe and reliable. In this paper, we present one of the possibilities, how a student can familiarize himself with the theoretical foundations of FEM and calculation procedures using the MathCAD software. MathCAD can be used as a vehicle to create, organize, and assemble all the pieces of the engineering calculations. {"title":"The Impact of Madrasati Platform Materials on Teaching and Learning Behaviors","authors":"Abdullah Alenezi","doi":"10.46300/9109.2023.17.10","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46300/9109.2023.17.10","url":null,"abstract":"The Madrasati system is an e-learning system offered free by the Saudi Arabian government. The platform was developed to enhance the existing curricula and achieve national-level educational goals and objectives. Despite a high adoption rate, current evidence suggests Madrasati was poorly implemented, owing to suboptimal benefits enjoyed by various stakeholders. The system may impact teaching behaviors, student motivation, learning, teacher training, professional behavior, classroom culture, and environment. Moreover, perceived ease of use, teacher competence, perceived usefulness, user experiences, security issues, and technology availability affect uptake. The study employed a quantitative correlational cross-sectional design and methodology, using surveys, interviews, and observations on a sample (n=100) with 25 teachers and 75 students. Analysis was completed using SPSS, including Pearson’s r, regression, and the Sobel test to assess the mediating effect, where t-values above or below +/- 1.96 (95% CI) were considered significant. The results indicate that Madrasati positively correlates with teaching and learning behavior and student motivation. However, none of the mediating hypotheses were proven. {"title":"Electro-Learning amidst Covid-19 Lockdown and Related Challenges of Undergraduates in Nigerian Universities","authors":"Oluwatobi Dorcas Adelowo, Tolulope Abiola Allo, Tayo George","doi":"10.46300/9109.2023.17.9","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46300/9109.2023.17.9","url":null,"abstract":"This paper examined the various electronic learning platforms adopted by undergraduates in Nigerian Universities which include both private and public universities in Nigeria and its related challenges during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. The coronavirus’ enormous consequences, which affected all countries and industries, influenced around 91% of the world's students. The objective of this study is to investigate the experiences of private and public university undergraduates in a Nigerian University, to determine whether there is a significant disparity in the accessibility, affordability, and ease of use of the various e-learning platforms that were adopted during the global pandemic lockdown. The study employed the survey method in eliciting useful information from undergraduates in Covenant University, and in the University of Lagos. The population of the study consisted of 374 undergraduates from both schools. Due to the inaccessibility of students whose lecturers were on industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, the questionnaire was physically distributed to students at Covenant University, while a Google form was generated for students at the University of Lagos. Data was analyzed using descriptive techniques in frequencies, percentages, and linear regression analysis. Results from the study revealed that 68.1% of students at Covenant University utilized more e-learning platforms like Moodle, Coursera, Zoom, and WebEx unlike their counterparts at the University of Lagos who used only Moodle and Zoom with 43.6%. Also, 87.5% of Covenant University undergraduates made use of their laptops mostly for their e-learning classes while 56.4% of their counterparts in the University of Lagos mostly made use of their smartphones. Findings revealed that students from public Universities faced major challenges such as unstable internet, limited financial capability in buying devices such as laptops, and lack of skill and competence in navigating the e-learning platforms while students in the private universities on the contrary had relatively stable internet connectivity, could afford laptops and smart devices and had the requisite skills to properly navigate their e-learning platforms. The study concludes by recommending the provision of substantial financing that will aid in the acquisition of relevant technology to promote and support e-learning in public universities in Nigeria. It also suggested the inclusion of public University students with adequate training on how to navigate the e-learning platforms, thereby equipping them with the requisite skills needed to maximize the benefits of e-learning. The study emphasizes how the use of e-learning can be an effective sustainable learning solution for current and future situations by the main actors, educators, and learners. Therefore, establishing a complete and feasible evaluation system for IEE is vital for the enhancement of education level and quality. On the basis of the principles for the evaluating system, the study selected the evaluation indicators for IEE. Then, the adaptive flower pollination algorithm was used to evolve the BP’s initial weight and threshold applied to the evaluation of the IEE of college students. The improved BP network had a faster speed in the first to fifth iteration, and the mean square error converged between 10-7 and 10-6. In the comparison of fitness values, the method converged only in the 16th generation, and the fitness value was stable at about 1.95. In practical application, the error rate of this method was about 13%, and it had a high accuracy rate. Average scores of women working in new small and medium enterprises in the Kingdom in the two applications before and after the performance observation card are related to leadership skills. There is a statistically significant correlation at the level of significance (p≤0.05) between the scores of Saudi women. The study improves the collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm and the joint matrix decomposition algorithm based on the theory of migration learning, aiming to improve the learning to optimize the resource recommendation system by calculating the user similarity and establishing the user preference-resource feature matrix. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method on a sample of male and female university librarians in Saudi libraries. The sample consisted of 200 information specialists from Saudi universities. The questionnaire included six axes: awareness of cybersecurity among information specialists, cybersecurity systems and methods for information professionals in Saudi university libraries, the necessary cybersecurity competencies for information specialists in Saudi universities, the requirements for achieving cybersecurity, and the training needs for information specialists to achieve cybersecurity. A high degree of relative cybersecurity awareness among information specialists at Saudi universities’ libraries was found. This study aims to highlight the application of interactive teaching methods and the impact these methods have on increasing interest in the field of study. This was done through the questionnaire developed among 110 students of the Marketing Scientific Master Faculty of Economics at the University of Tirana. Of these, 60 students belong to the academic year 2018-2019 and 50 to the academic year 2019-2020. The analysis of the study is based on correlation, significance analysis, reliability analysis, regression, Anova test, and Mann-Whitney test. The study has resulted that women are the ones who prefer this study cycle the most; the average of the students who follow this study cycle is about segment 7.1-8. Finding yourself in a subject affects the willingness to attend an hour of lecture, and information about interactive teaching methods affects the willingness to attend an hour of class. Therefore, various faults may occur in the motor due to unexpected forces during the operations. Obtaining the data through experimental methods by physically creating faults in the induction motors, and analyzing their behavior is not efficient in terms of cost and time for educational purposes. Considering the above negative situation, in this paper, mathematical models have been developed in the dq0 stationary reference frame expressing three-phase stator windings short-circuit fault and broken rotor bar fault in induction motors. The proposed models are faster as compared to the other analytical models in terms of computation due to the rotor position independence of the inductance matrix. The faulty induction motor mathematical models have been implemented in the MATLAB/SIMULINK software environment with detailed explanations of each faulty model’s subsystem. As a visual laboratory that can be used as an educational tool for the analysis of a three-phase faulty induction motor, a graphical user interface application has been developed in MATLAB/GUIDE, which allows users to simulate models from a single interface. As a case study, the behaviors of faulty induction motors in transient and steady states have been simulated in different severity scenarios of the faults. The park vector method has been used as a fault diagnosis approach to investigate fault types and the fault severity effects on the park vector pattern in each fault scenario.
