However, little is known about the influence of lean manufacturing on financial performance and sustainable finance of firms in the automotive industry. This study explores the relationship between lean manufacturing, financial performance and sustainable finance. The data was obtained from a self-administered questionnaire distributed to 460 Mexican firms that operate in the automotive industry. The results of the structural equation model (partial least squares) suggest that lean manufacturing have a positive and significant influence on both financial performance and sustainable finance.","PeriodicalId":42185,"journal":{"name":"Tec Empresarial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135452687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data was collected from 163,843 tweets between May and June 2020. A group of popular hashtags about entrepreneurship and business was identified. The extensive data process was carried out using the term association technique and text sentiment analysis. The results indicate that crisis communications in businesses and by entrepreneurs had two objectives, to communicate the crisis inside the business due to the pandemic and communicate the elements of crisis solution by highlighting the skills, knowledge, means, and critical issues to overcome. The study contributes to the situational crisis communication literature by understanding the characteristics of crisis communication during a crisis period in popular entrepreneurship hashtags.","PeriodicalId":42185,"journal":{"name":"Tec Empresarial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135517352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of the logistic regressions reveal a significantly positive effect of structural capital and relational capital on innovation, whereas the impact of human capital is not significant. The results show the importance for entrepreneurs of strengthening intellectual capital in order to increase SMEs innovation, and advise policymakers on how to mobilize support schemes for the renewal of SMEs with low individual but high collective innovation potential. Instead of examining large enterprises and startups, the novelty of the study relies on the analysis of the connections between intellectual capital components and innovation in the context of mature Hungarian SMEs.","PeriodicalId":42185,"journal":{"name":"Tec Empresarial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135703261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use a unique primary dataset drawn from the Global Competitiveness Project that includes information for 176 Colombian SMEs during 2019. We employ a regression model to test the proposed hypotheses highlighting the relevance of marketing innovation, uniqueness, and communication for SMEs' competitiveness. The findings reveal that Colombian SMEs are frequent users of marketing strategies. Results show that larger SMEs that use marketing strategies are more competitive than smaller ones. It was also found that strategic emphasis, which implies that SMEs work with one of the evaluated strategies, contributes to competitiveness. However, managers should consider the synergistic effects of using more than one strategy. The relevance of this study is to present a model that shows how larger SMEs can capitalize on different marketing strategies to consolidate their competitiveness level in the Colombian context.","PeriodicalId":42185,"journal":{"name":"Tec Empresarial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135517353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The empirical strategy is based on vector autoregression models (VAR) for time series and panel-data settings on a sample of 40 US States during 2003-2018. The results confirm a bidirectional causal relationship in the short-run between economic activity—i.e., Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per worker—and work accidents in 28 States. Additionally, the empirical evidence suggests that this relationship is heterogeneous. In line with increased awareness on how the economic cycle affects the temporal trajectory of work accidents across territories, policy implications and future research avenues are discussed.","PeriodicalId":42185,"journal":{"name":"Tec Empresarial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135798735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En este marco, la vinculación con startups aparece como un candidato natural para estas estrategias de innovación abierta corporativa. Los resultados obtenidos en este artículo muestran que se trata de un fenómeno muy reciente pero en expansión, aunque con una fuerte concentración espacial en las economías más grandes de la región. Su principal motivación es la de innovar de forma más ágil y flexible, asumiendo múltiples formas y actividades pero sin estar circunscripto a empresas de sectores tecnológicos ni de capital extranjero. Asimismo, la mirada en profundidad sobre los casos estudiados muestra la existencia aún de tensiones y desafíos a nivel corporativo para poder incorporar al trabajo con startups dentro de las rutinas y procesos ya existentes así como la importancia de una alineación de expectativas de uno y otro lado de la relación en cuanto a los compromisos y resultados esperados. Además, aquellos casos que están más avanzados en estas iniciativas muestran la importancia de que éstas sean concebidas como emprendimientos en sí mismos y tengan una fuerte alineación estratégica con su “organización madre” (la corporación). Varias líneas de investigación futura se desprenden de estos resultados para nutrir un campo de investigación aún por despegar en América Latina.","PeriodicalId":42185,"journal":{"name":"Tec Empresarial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135798736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Besides the healthcare challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic has also caused drastic changes in the management world. Through a systematic literature review of 137 articles published before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic (between 2009 and March 2020), we develop a conceptual framework that integrates complementary branches of theoretical and empirical research, with the VUCA environment as the central unit of analysis. Our objectives are to unravel how the main theories in this field address essential aspects of management and future study trends, we also propose a conceptualisation of VUCA as an essential element of the current environment and its relationship with the different disciplines in the business world.","PeriodicalId":42185,"journal":{"name":"Tec Empresarial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135798733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agri-food chains are key to ensuring the transition to a sustainable development model in line with the principles of CE. This study sought to implement the concepts of circular economy at the Ecuador's banana production chain, through the design of prospective from the exhaustive diagnosis of the main processes of the chain. The research was conducted from 2020 to 2022. The studied checklist included 91 items grouped into nine dimensions: source or supply of materials, design, manufacturing, economic circle, distribution and sales, consumption and use, 4R, re-manufacturing, and sustainability. A medium circular economy level (CEL) was evaluated (2.69 points out of 5). Two machine learning techniques (MLTs) were also applied support vector machine (SVM), (with three types of kernel: radial, linear and polynomial) and a neural network (NN). In relation to the Spearman correlation coefficients of the application of the techniques to the study cases, they were higher than 0.90. The most reliable was the SVM Regression-Linear Kernel, which had a coefficient close to 1. Finally, various value-adding options are proposed in order to take advantage of the large amount of waste generated in the banana production system. The proposed options include value-augmentation processes, ranging from organic fertilizers, biofuels, materials for wastewater treatment, and the production of bioplastics and nanoparticles, which can be implemented using the CE approach.","PeriodicalId":42185,"journal":{"name":"Tec Empresarial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135798732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
