In the residential sector, air conditioning (AC) currently has the largest peak demand reduction potential, but it is limited by the comfort bounds set by the user. This paper studies the limitations of AC load shifting and the attractiveness of using thermal energy storage (TES) to increase residential demand response potential. A general building thermodynamic model is developed and is used to evaluate AC load shifting potential with different AC control principles and electricity rate structures. To this end, we formulate a hybrid system model that describes the power system electromechanical behavior, including the AGC system dynamics. Through linearization and discretization, this hybrid system model is converted into a discrete-time linear time-invariant system model that includes the effect of delays in the AGC system communication channels. The stability of the closed-loop system can then be determined by examining the characteristics of the state-transition matrix of the aforementioned discrete-time linear system. Interesting findings include that increasing communication delay may help decrease the largest eigenvalue magnitude of the state-transition matrix. However, in reality, the delay is not constant or deterministic. We carefully analyze the stability of systems with random communication delays and nonzero mean random disturbances. The proposed method utilizes sensitivity analysis of the risk index with respect to the control variables to identify vulnerabilities that can be corrected by strategic or tactical measures. For any initiating event, the sensitivity of the risk of load curtailments with respect to the power quality constraints such as voltage and reactive power is derived, and thereby preventive/correction actions are determined. In this paper, in addition to the insertion of compensation equipments, rescheduling of generation is considered to increase the reactive power reserve. In order to evaluate the sensitivity of the risk index with respect to the power quality constraints, voltage and reactive power constraints are incorporated with a non-linear programming optimization problem with an objective of minimum load curtailments. The model is applied on a modified version of the IEEE Reliability Test System (IEEE-MRTS). The rectifier terminals of these systems are connected to weak ac systems. A modified CIGRE HVDC benchmark model implemented in the PSCAD/EMTDC program is used to study the impact of varying amounts of dynamic reactive compensation on performance during rectifier operation. Determination of the amount of dynamic reactive compensation needed at the rectifier terminal is based on the following dynamic parameters: the magnitude of the first peak of the temporary overvoltages (TOVs) of the rectifier ac voltage following disturbance and time for the dc system to reach 80% of pre-disturbance dc power transfer after the clearing an ac fault. Carbon brush is used in Sirikit hydro power plant which is electrographite brush type. Weibull distribution can find mean time to failure, failure rate, reliability with few number of the length measurement of carbon brush. It has been applied to find optimal cost preventive maintenance which reduces unnecessary planned maintenance and also increases reliability of system. Our continuous-discrete robust Kalman filter relies on time-stamping to mitigate the destabilizing effects of network delay in the presence of significant model parameter uncertainty. We show that our method can achieve acceptable performance in the presence of both communication delay and model parameter uncertainty. Component configuration and system impedances of the PSCAD/EMTDC implementation of the CBM are modified to arrive at the 60 Hz equivalent model. These parameter changes are discussed and validation is given. Simulations are conducted in steady state and compared to that of the CBM. The response of the proposed equivalent to a current order step-response and AC faults are compared to that of the CBM. In this paper, the performance of a coupon incentive-based demand response (CIDR) in a real world setting is formulated and critically assessed. In the scheme of CIDR, load serving entities (LSEs) issue coupons to consumers whenever real-time wholesale price spikes are expected, thus avoiding further loss when price-affecting contingencies happen in near real-time. expected outcome of CIDR with bounded rational consumers are formulated and analyzed. It is shown that there exists fundamental connection between scheme of CIDR and conventional price-based demand response. Game theoretical models are introduced as a means to capturing the interactions between load serving entities and consumers with bounded rationality. Further, these fault currents are balanced even for unbalanced faults. The absence of significant fault current magnitudes and the lack of negative and zero sequence components in the fault currents poses challenges to the protection of power systems that interconnect wind turbines. This paper first presents the design of the controls of the grid-side voltage sourced converter (VSC) with an averaged non-switching model and a transmission interconnection through a step-up transformer. Faults are placed on the transmission system and fault currents and voltages are measured at relay location and converted to COMTRADE format.
