As expected, the patient information texts on the websites of the hospitals are also read by much more people relative to the past. In this context, this paper mainly handles the readability of patient information texts on amblyopia on the websites of major hospitals in Turkey. Since the assessed texts are in Turkish, the readability assessments are carried out by Ateşman Formula which is mainly created in order to measure the readability of the texts in written in Turkish. For this purpose, the relevant information texts of the first ten hospitals that were reached as a result of typing the keyword “göz tembelliği” -which is the Turkish of “amblyopia”- on the internet search engine Google were evaluated. Average value of the Ateşman index of examined texts corresponds to the medium difficulty classification. However, the value found is quite close to the lower limit of the medium difficulty class. This reflects that the readability level of the text is relatively low. The readers of these texts consist of people from various segments of society with various levels of education. Moreover, it is highly probable that the majority of the aforementioned readership did not have a health or medical education. For all these reasons, the readability levels of these texts should be more appropriate for the readers. Various regulations can be brought by official authorities in this regard.","PeriodicalId":421703,"journal":{"name":"British Journal of Multidisciplinary and Advanced Studies","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125634201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated the parental involvement on their children’s developmental skills. A total of 30 parents of Pilgrim Christian College participated in the study amidst the global pandemic. A questionnaire containing the items from Epstein’s parental involvement, and ECCD checklist of basic education’s developmental skills. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were used to organize the data. Findings reveal that the components of parental involvement were rated as very high, except volunteerism which was rated as high. The children’s developmental domains were rated as very high. Parental involvement significantly influenced the children’s developmental skills. The study affirms that parental involvement has greatly contributed to the development of their children’s skills, and it points to the need for the development of the children’s emotions. Parents may continue their involvement for their children’s education especially in getting and returning modules and other activities.","PeriodicalId":421703,"journal":{"name":"British Journal of Multidisciplinary and Advanced Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116247438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In light of the new normal working conditions, this study focused on examining employees' work engagement and well-being. The theoretical framework of this study drew upon William Kahn's (1990) work engagement theory and Diener's (1984) theory of subjective well-being. To assess these constructs, the researcher utilized instruments developed by Pradhan and Hati (2019), Prawitz et al. (2006), Rich et al. (2010), Kuok and Taormina (2017), and May et al. (2004), which were distributed to 100 employees working in restaurants in Cagayan de Oro City. A descriptive correlational design was employed, utilizing statistical tools such as frequency, mean, percentage, and standard deviation to determine the level of work engagement and well-being. Additionally, multiple regression analysis was used to identify the factors that predict work engagement. The study's findings revealed that employees demonstrated high levels of well-being and work engagement. Notably, the physical, mental, and emotional dimensions of well-being were the most significant predictors of work engagement. The study highlights the importance of conducting further empirical investigations to examine the impact of employees' financial well-being on their work engagement in the new normal.","PeriodicalId":421703,"journal":{"name":"British Journal of Multidisciplinary and Advanced Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129388783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three faculties were purposively selected with a study population of 3,415. Random sampling procedure was employed using a sampling percentage of 10% to give a sample size of 341. Questionnaire was the instrument used in the collection of data and data were analysed using simple percentage, correlation, independent sample t test and regression. Results revealed that the level of academic self-handicapping behaviour of undergraduates was moderate 2.27). There was significant positive relationship between peer approval seeking and academic self-handicapping behaviour (r = 0.314, p<.05), socio-economic status (r = 0.379, p<.05), and locus of control (r = 0.343, p<.05). There was no significant difference in the academic self-handicapping behaviour of male and female undergraduates [t (339) = -2.03, p > .05]. There was a significant joint contribution of peer approval seeking, socio- economic status and locus of control on academic self-handicapping behaviour of undergraduates, (F (3, 337) = 23.282, p<0.05). There was significant relative contribution of socio-economic status (Beta = .226, t= 3.347, p<0.05), peer approval seeking (Beta = .126, t= 2.081, p<0.05) and locus of control (Beta = .135, t= 2.032, p<0.05) on academic self-handicapping behaviour. These activities make them become better lawyers after graduation however they have also become challenges documented to lead to psychological trauma for some students. Extensive literature review, content analysis as well as interview methods were used. The conceptual framework of the study was based on analysis of 3 Autobiographies and literature review. Autobiographies by Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie were selected. They are: “Where is your Wrapper”, “Speaking above a whisper” and “We should all be Feminist”. Texts from these autobiographies that answered the research questions were selected for annotations; they providence research evidence showing that autobiographies can be used as bibliotherapy intervention in handling psychological trauma that could arouse from activities in law faculty environment. A structured interview carried out on a medical doctor (director) in a government hospital, when placed in juxtaposition with results of literature review, showed that law environment is not the only stressor to undergraduate law students. Background factors to each student were also found to contribute to psychological trauma in law environment. Hence it was concluded that bibliotherapy was essential intervention technique for undergraduate law students. It was further shown that academic law libraries can be a medium of bibliotherapy intervention for law undergraduates. This study examines the challenges and opportunities encountered by TLE teachers in Philippine Public Schools, focusing on Region 10. Employing a thematic analysis approach following Saldana's framework, six TLE teachers from Junior and Senior High Schools were interviewed. The participants identified Human, Pedagogical, and Material issues as the primary problems they faced in their classes. Pedagogically, they struggled with implementing effective teaching approaches and sustaining students' interest. To address these concerns and enhance student learning, the teachers utilized their funds, extended their services, and sought support from stakeholders. They also recognized vocational training as an opportunity to improve their teaching. The study underscores the resilience and innovation exhibited by TLE teachers in overcoming these challenges. Their resourcefulness, commitment, and ability to leverage personal resources and engage stakeholders played a crucial role in mitigating the identified problems. Overall, this study emphasizes the importance of comprehensive support systems and policies to foster professional development and enhance the quality of TLE education in Philippine Public Schools.","PeriodicalId":421703,"journal":{"name":"British Journal of Multidisciplinary and Advanced Studies","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121154204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
