The user follows a harvest-then-transmit protocol: in the first phase of a slot time, the source node harvests energy from a nearby conventional access point, then transmits information to its destination node or relay node in the second phase. We obtain the optimal harvesting ratio to maximize the expected throughput for direct transmission (DT) and decode forward (DF) relay under outage constraint, respectively. Our results reveal that the optimal harvest ratio for DT is dominated by the outage constraint while for DF relay, by the data causality.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"22 13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124497305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to understand the underlying physical propagation phenomenon in underground mines. Accurate and efficient channel models including large-scale fading characteristics are crucial for the design and performance evaluation of VLC systems. However, the characteristics of the underlying VLC channels have not been sufficiently investigated yet. In this paper, based on the recursive channel model, a path loss channel model is proposed precisely with the path loss exponent determined by three different trajectories in the mining roadway and working face environments. Taking different numbers of transmitters into account, both line-of-sight (LoS) and non-line-of-sight (NLoS) scenarios are considered. Our results demonstrate that the path loss exhibits a linear behavior in log-domain when curve fitting technique is applied. An expression for path loss as a function of distance is derived. Finally, root mean square (RMS) delay spread has been investigated and analyzed.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130835929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

NOMA based on power-domain multiplexing and successive interference cancellation (SIC) receiver is proved to be effective in enhancing system spectrum efficiency (SE). In this paper, we propose an efficient predefined user grouping and group-wise power allocation for NOMA in LTE heterogeneous networks (HetNets). For performance evaluation, we also construct a system-level simulator for LTE with NOMA based on 3GPP specifications. It is verified that the NOMA achieves higher network throughput and SE compared to the orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme. Besides, the performance gain by NOMA is shown to be more pronounced with an increasing number of users.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122388883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For many cases, power security is an important issue, say when power transfer to certain users is unintended and therefore needs to be restricted. Moreover, manufacturing costs and physical dimensions are also important issues for mass production. In this paper, we investigate an MRC-WPT system with multiple transmitters, one intended receiver and one unintended receiver. We formulate the problem of maximizing power of intended receiver by designing coil winding numbers of inductors in MRC circuits. Meanwhile, the proposed design should satisfy the total power and manufacturing cost constraints, as well as the power security demands. Although the problem is non-convex, the global optimal solution can still be efficiently obtained via semidefinite programming approach. Simulation results are provided to show the performance of the proposed design.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"350 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116502218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers recently note the potential of social network analysis to design wireless networks more efficiently. In this paper, we present a very original view to take advantage of clustering coefficient in social network analysis to develop more effective ad hoc networking without the need of global network information. We start from random geometric graph to view the communication range of a wireless node as a disc, which is equivalent to examining the outage probability of links. Under stochastic geometry analysis of interference, the impacts of density and traffic of nodes on the connectivity can be therefore analyzed. Similar to the structural holes in social networks, the ad hoc networks suffer from the void region problem in the geographical routing, which is even more harmful in ultra dense networking environments. Discarding the detailed global routing table, we surprisingly show that the local estimation of clustering coefficient of nodes can significantly improve the void problem handling to result in more effective ad hoc networking.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"C-36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127237294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Continuous measurement campaign was conducted on a city expressway through the complex dense urban area in Wuhan, China. Small-scale channel characteristics including power delay profile (PDP), amplitude fading distribution, K-factor, delay spread and doppler shift were obtained, respectively. Specifically, the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of root mean square (RMS) delay spreads and RMS doppler spreads in non-congestion scenario and congestion scenario were all fitted well with Lognormal distribution. We also found that different intensity of traffic and speed of vehicles have little effect on RMS delay spreads, but have a big impact on RMS doppler spreads. According to estimation outcomes, the V2V channel characteristics in Chinese urban scenario were different from the previous measured results in European cities. All of these conclusions in this paper can provide references to design the wireless communication system for V2V channel.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"360 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125648433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome the influence caused by the jitter of received signal strength (RSS), the location of one mobile node can be estimated by fusing both the current matching result and the previous location estimation, using the Bayesian graphical model (BGM). Then, the localization problem is cast as a maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimator, which is also proved to coincide to maximum likelihood (ML) estimator. However, the initialized MAP estimator can be hardly solved with incomplete statistical property concerning the random vectors. To this end, we propose an adaptive smoothing algorithm (ASA) to attain the suboptimal solution of the original problem. Finally, the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm obtains a significant performance gain.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127996455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scheme utilizes joint polarization-QAM to promote energy efficiency by taking the advantages of both QAM and polarization modulation in the linear and nonlinear areas of PA, respectively. However, the energy efficiency is effected by the changes of the factors such as modulation orders, PA characteristics, channel of polarization mode dispersion, channel compensation matrix and symbol error rate (SER) and data rate requirements. In addition, they can also interact with each other. To optimize energy efficiency, the energy efficiency maximization problem regarding these factors is formulated, and an improved algorithm based on differential evolution is proposed to obtain competitive performance when solving the problem. Therefore, the energy efficiency optimization scheme in this paper enables not only adaptation of modulation as adaptive polarization-QAM scheme, but also joint adjustment of PA characteristics and channel compensation matrix to achieve higher energy efficiency. The simulation results under the same SER threshold show that the energy efficiency of proposed energy efficiency optimization scheme based on improved differential evolution with joint polarization-QAM can be improved by up to 43% compared with adaptive polarization-QAM scheme in OFDM systems.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"58 20","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134005297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a cognitive two-path relay (TPR) network with the capability of power splitting (PS)-SWIPT. With the aid of PS, the successive source and relay transmissions can overcome spectral efficiency loss compared with half-duplex (HD) relay-assisted PS-SWIPT networks. An optimization problem is formulated, with jointly optimizing the PS factors of two relays to maximize the minimum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) at the destination during two successive time slots. Through ratiocination and proving, the optimal solutions can be obtained by iterative methods. In consideration of inter-relay interference (IRI) cancellation, we also investigate the optimal PS factors under the condition of sufficiently small IRI channel gains. The simulation results demonstrate that, in the proposed scheme, the optimal PS factors with IRI cancellation are almost identical with the solutions with IRI when the IRI channel gains lower than a certain threshold, which can be set as the initial values of the iteration to reduce the iteration times in practical networks.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"179 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133576466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, the security problem in TR communication has drawn growing attention. In this paper, we firstly propose a path selection based physical layer security method, where a subset of paths with larger channel gains are selected for transmitting information signals. We then propose to add artificial noise (AN) on remaining paths to mask the information signals. The corresponding average secrecy rates are approximately derived in closed form. Analytical and simulation results show that the secrecy performance can be considerably improved with the help of path selection, and further improved with the AN aided approach. The optimal values of the selected path number and the power allocation between information signals and AN are also investigated. Simulation results show that costing a small amount of power on AN and transmitting AN on a few paths, we can achieve good secrecy performance.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130382618","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
