Moreover, we assume that roadside units (RSUs) are densely deployed such that a vehicle may suffer interference from neighboring RSUs. Due to interference, the transmission rate varies as the vehicle moves. We formulate the content scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing the spectrum resources consumption while satisfying the delay requirement of contents. Due to the huge computation complexity, we then propose a sub-optimal algorithm based on time expanded graph. We conduct simulation experiments to evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115615498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With imperfect channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT), we aim to minimize the weighted sum transmit power while certain outage probabilities are ensured for the users. First of all, instead of the conventional signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) criterion, the signal-to-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SLNR) metric is considered to lower the burden of CSIT exchange among multiple transmitters and formulate a distributed probabilistic robust beamforming design. Additionally, since the non-convex and stochastic outage constraints would present huge analytical and computational challenges, the original constraints are replaced by conservative convex and deterministic counterparts by employing Bernstein-type inequality and semi-definite relaxation (SDR). Simulation results demonstrate that in the case of well-enough feasibility, our proposed SLNR-based robust beamforming design consumes less transmit power than other related schemes.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115171541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the high mobility of vehicles and the dark areas resulting from sparse deployment of RSUs, the amount of data that can be downloaded by individual vehicle is quite limited. To tackle this problem, in this paper, we exploit the combination of both prefetching and carry-and-forward scheme to facilitate data download of individual vehicle in dark areas. When a tagged vehicle requests to download data, it first informs multiple selected RSUs to prefetch the data, then we select reverse vehicles to form into linear clusters to cooperatively download the prefetched data from the selected RSUs. When the tagged vehicle leaves the coverage of a RSU, it will continue to download data from cooperative clusters encountered in dark area, which indirectly extends the access time from the tagged vehicle to RSUs, and accordingly facilitates the data download process significantly. Based on the proposed cooperative communication scheme, the process of data download and achievable throughput are derived and analysed theoretically. Finally, we conduct extensive simulations to verify the performance of the proposed strategy. The results show the significant benefits of the proposed scheme in terms of increasing data download volume and throughput.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115261297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our hybrid access network consists of multiple macro-cells operating at sub-6 GHz ultra high frequency (UHF) frequency bands, and multiple small-cells operating at mmWave frequency bands laid on cell-edge of each macro-cell. On the basis of the user association, we propose the distributed maximizing worst (DMW) subcarrier allocation algorithm for the macro-cell transmissions based on OFDMA scheme. Finally, to combat interference among macro-cells, the proposed heuristic interference mitigation (HIM) algorithm is carried out to enhance the network throughput performance. Our simulation results show that, with the aid of proposed DMW and HIM algorithms, the mmWave hybrid access network significantly outperforms the traditional UHF only access network.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115418209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it suffers from high peak-to-average ratio (PAPR). When considering the dimming function, the high PAPR of O-OFDM signal limits its system performance. In this paper, a new scheme, termed separately transmitted optical OFDM (ST-OFDM), is proposed. In ST-OFDM, the PAPR of O-OFDM signals are effectively reduced by separating conventional direct current optical OFDM (DCO-OFDM) signal into two signals with much lower PAPR. The two separated signals are then simultaneously transmitted by different LEDs and constructively added in space. In this way, ST-OFDM does not alter the structure of the conventional OFDM receiver, which makes it easy to implement. The theoretical model for ST-OFDM is also studied, and the closed-form expression for effective SNR is obtained. In addition, in order to provide the dimming function, both the spatial dimming and analog dimming are used. Simulation results show that both the bit error rate (BER) and the spectral efficiency performance of the proposed ST-OFDM scheme are better than that of spatial dimmable OFDM (SD-OFDM) scheme and the conventional DCO-OFDM scheme.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126163034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularly in the high mobility scenario, the optimization of handover through managing signalling overhead and delay is of primarily importance. In this paper, the idea of integrating Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Fog Computing is explored. NFV has the advantage of improving network flexibility whilst reducing overall overhead. The Fog-Computing Access Points (F-APs) are then employed with certain caches in the edge of networks. Moreover, a direct-X2 based handover scheme is proposed. Taking advantages of both edge caching and Virtual Machines (VMs), this proposed handover scheme has superior performance: the signalling cost of handovers can be as little as 65% of that of a conventional LTE network.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125849995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the major technical challenges is to handle the frequent handover caused by mobility and blockage. Aiming to address this problem, we abstract the network layer to the physical layer via a cross-layer method and perform handovers in a centralized way based on software defined networking. In addition, in order to maintain enough user throughputs and reduce latency during handover procedure, we also propose a fast semi-offline beam training scheme, which takes advantage of mobile edge computing to pre-store the power delay angular profile data of the mmWave channel. The proposed scheme can ensure seamless connections when users are moving into a non-line-of-sight area, thereby providing users with better quality of service for promising applications in the fifth-generation networks, like augmented reality. We use data of field measurement to initially analyze the network throughput and latency for outdoor mmWave networks, which shows that our proposed system is reliable, scalable, and implementable.","PeriodicalId":418396,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129815005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

How to reach rendezvous efficiently and effectively is still an open problem. In this work, we propose a guaranteed rendezvous algorithm for cognitive radio networks, based on the prime cycle length. When the cycle lengths of the two nodes are coprime, the rendezvous is guaranteed in T<inf>i ∗</inf>T<inf>j</inf> +δ time slots, where Ti is the cycle length of node i and T<inf>j</inf> is that of node j. Due to the energy limit of sensor nodes, prolonging lifetime of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is a big challenge. In this paper, we propose a new clustering method called Density, Distance and Energy based Clustering (DDEC) to improve network performance. DDEC partitions the network into clusters with similar member number, so as to achieve load balancing. Then a cluster head is selected for each cluster based on three criteria: residual energy, distance and density, which achieves to minimize intra-communication cost and prolong cluster lifetime. In our performance analysis, we compare DDEC with another clustering method called DDCHS.
