Even if under some simplifications (sinusoidal space distribution of the current density, no slotting, no saturation, no parallel paths), various compact and significant expressions of field and force are obtained, for any number of pole pairs: the model is based on a critical re-formulation of the air-gap m.m.f., by discussing the homopolar term. Some FEM simulations confirm the soundness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":416125,"journal":{"name":"2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines","volume":"434 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123610317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The limitations of an existing 1-D flux density model are demonstrated and an improved 2-D analytical model is introduced for estimating flux densities and stand-level proximity losses inside the slots. The 2-D analytical model is shown to provide good matches with finite element analysis for the predicted flux densities and proximity losses inside a rectangular slot with a variable slot opening and electrical frequency.","PeriodicalId":416125,"journal":{"name":"2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122752323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the proposed method cube of slope of power vs. voltage (P-V) curve is calculated in each calculation step. Through this calculation both the direction of photovoltaic's (PV) voltage change and the step size of this change are resulted without making any slope or sign control. Moreover, a way to apply this method in PV systems which are consisted of Ns in series and Np in parallel connection PV arrays with high installed nominal power is proposed. A DC to DC buck-boost converter is used in connection with PV arrays for achieving operation in maximum power point and keeping output voltage constant. The whole system is simulated using Matlab/Simulink and simulation results are presented and analyzed.","PeriodicalId":416125,"journal":{"name":"2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122812230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, wind turbines must also contribute with voltage regulation during and after grid faults. A comparative study analyzing the dynamic behavior of conventional versions of wind turbines based on doubly-fed induction generator and on permanent magnet synchronous generator is presented in this paper. Computational simulations have showed that wind turbine based on PMSG can contribute with more injection of reactive power to the network. The converters nominal power and the strategy of its current controllers can impact the dynamic behavior of wind turbines.","PeriodicalId":416125,"journal":{"name":"2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123887651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method takes into account the reaction field of the induced eddy-currents and is, therefore, not restricted to cases where the skin depth is large compared to the geometrical dimensions of the magnets and the rotor yoke. We apply the method to two typical machines with concentrated stator windings and discuss those design aspects, which influence the rotor loss in a relevant manner.","PeriodicalId":416125,"journal":{"name":"2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126278468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
