The study was based on secondary data from 1988-89 to 2017-18. Instability in area, production and productivity of selected pulse were worked out for entire period of analysis by Cuddy-Della Valle index and to measure the cause of instability with respect of selected pulse crops i.e. gram, lentil, black gram, green gram and pigeon pea in Rajasthan, acreage response function (log linear function) and yield response function have been used. The study revealed that area and production of selected pulse crops were highly instable in Rajasthan except area under green gram. Subsequently, the productivity of green gram and pigeon pea were also more instable while gram and black gram were found medium instable. In the mean, time productivity of lentil was very less instable. Gram and green gram growers in Rajasthan showed contrary response to lagged area under its competing crop i.e. the decrease in area of competing crop in last year season, thereby that was tendency to increase the area under gram and green gram in Rajasthan. while quite responsive to lagged area under lentil, black gram and pigeon pea crop in Rajasthan. It means the increase in area of lentil, black gram and pigeon pea crops in last year season, there is tendency to increase the area under lentil, black gram and pigeon pea in Rajasthan. The time trend factor showed positive influence on productivity of all selected crops in Rajasthan. Further, seasonal rainfall recorded positive impact on black gram, green gram and pigeon pea crops while on lentil and gram it was negative in Rajasthan.","PeriodicalId":415941,"journal":{"name":"Agro-Economist","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128725478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In each experiment, the animals were randomly assigned to three treatment diets containing graded garlic levels in a completely randomized experimental design replicated five times. Garlic was supplemented at graded levels of 30gm and 60gm for treatments T2 and T3 respectively while treatment T1 (control) had no garlic. Results indicated a significantly lower body weight gain for growing animals (experiment 1) fed diets containing garlic (P<0.05) while feed conversion ratio (FCR) and cost of feed/ kg live weight gain was higher. For fattening animals (experiment 2), garlic inclusion above 30gm had a negative effect on fattening performance (P < 0.05). It was concluded that inclusion of garlic in the diet of growing and fattening Barbari goat could not improve performance.","PeriodicalId":415941,"journal":{"name":"Agro-Economist","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123969584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

India being the world’s largest producer, contributes more than 70 per cent of the total world basmati rice production. The present study was conducted in Bishnah and R.S. Pura blocks of Jammu district of Union Territory (UT) of J&K. The study revealed that on an average per farm marketed surplus comes to 17.48 quintals, whereas it was 44.71 quintals on medium farms followed by 23.27 quintals on small farm and 10.15 quintals on marginal farms respectively. The investigation revealed that the producer share in consumers rupee was highest that is 79.10 per cent in channel-I that is producer to consumer followed by channel-Il 43.14 per cent, channel-IV 40.57 per cent and channel-Ill 39.53 per cent respectively. The channel-I that is producer to consumer was the most efficient channel with having the marketing efficiency of 3.79 followed by channel Il (3.46), channel-Ill (2.36) and channel-IV (1.68) respectively.","PeriodicalId":415941,"journal":{"name":"Agro-Economist","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132691216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The policy makers should give due emphasis to increase the level of efficiencies of the farmers who are far from the modern information and farming. This is because the use of improved technologies is expensive which results in practicing of subsistence farming. If educational opportunities for farmers are improved, the efficiency of the framers can be enhanced. Thus, government should design appropriate policy to provide adequate and effective basic educational opportunities to the low land population, both formal and non-formal education. Under the mixed farming system, farmers with more number of livestock were relatively better in the allocative efficiency. Hence, there is a need to design appropriate policy and strategies for improving livestock production systems. However, the problem of shortage of feed shall also have be considered for enhancing the efficiency of maize production.","PeriodicalId":415941,"journal":{"name":"Agro-Economist","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130527946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
