An attempt has been made in the current study to check the variation on usage of financial products through electronic mechanism amid COVID-19 pandemic. The primary data of this Study were collected from Banking Customers and have been identified on random basis from Jammu & Kashmir. The filled up response was collected successfully from 200 respondents, however from collected 200 responses 180 responses were valid and 20 responses were incomplete and hence eliminated from the current study. Based on the survey data generated through 180 banking customers were analyzed and the corresponding implications are discussed in the work.","PeriodicalId":415941,"journal":{"name":"Agro-Economist","volume":"47 14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130619423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper studies the impact of COVID-19 on the pre-harvesting, harvesting and post-harvesting stages of horticultural supply-chain. Primary Data was collected through the telephonic survey whereby the farmers acknowledged delay in spraying the chemicals and fertilizers which has resulted in increase of pests and weeds in their farmers, This is likely going to impact the quantity as well as quality of the horticultural crops in Jammu and Kashmir. Another group of the respondents, who had stored last year’s produce in Controlled-Atmosphere-Storages (CAS), have failed to find any buyer due to closure of the markets and the consequent fall in demand. The transportation and the storage cost of their stored produce is increasing with each passing day, therefore gradually eroding their profitability. Moreover, the cherry farmers who had reaped a good harvest couldn’t find the buyers and therefore had to dump their produce hitting the economy badly. Longevity of COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown is severely denting the efficiency of the supply-chain of the horticultural crops in Jammu and Kashmir. The profitability of horticultural sector as a whole is taking a severe hit which will impact the coming years too. With the pandemic yet to peak in India, the government should ramp up the infrastructure, provide timely input to the farmers, bring clarity in the opening of mandis and provide a financial stimulus to restore some normalcy","PeriodicalId":415941,"journal":{"name":"Agro-Economist","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121272103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was carried out in the Srinagar district of the valley during November, 2020 – January 2021. A structured questionnaire was developed to carry survey on online shoppers. Data has been collected from 440 e-shoppers via online mode. The target population includes e-shoppers from Srinagar. Non-probability sampling has been adopted for data collection because of non-availability of sampling frame. Chi-square test, has been carried out to study the significant association between the various demographic variables and determinants of online buying. In gender, females while finalizing an online purchase decision are significantly influenced by factors – image quality of the product, price of the product, return and refund policies and cash on delivery. Factors of e-shoppingprice of the product, product availability and cash on delivery have significant influence on age of the online shopper and age group (21-25) are highly effected due to these factors. Further, unmarried online shoppers are influenced by the factor – product availability for their online buying decision. Educational background influences preference of Return and refund policy. The present study has relied on non-probability sampling technique because there was no sampling frame available in Jammu and Kashmir. Further, the study has been carried out on Srinagar e-shoppers; therefore, generalization of the Present study should be done in light of particular context.","PeriodicalId":415941,"journal":{"name":"Agro-Economist","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131071288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Secondary data was collected from Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Department of Horticulture and Planning, Jammu and Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir, Statistical Office. Using Compound Annual Growth Rate and Cuddy-Della-Valle index, the sustainability of the major horticultural crops was analysed. It was found that apple is the most stable crop in terms of both growth as well as variability. Almond suffers with highest instability in all the three parameters. Cherry too faces low growth and high instability in the last thirty years as such it has lower acceptability with the farmers. Walnut on the other hand, suffers from high fluctuation in growth rate in all the three parameters and as such suffers moderate instability. Overall, the horticultural crops in Jammu and Kashmir are strongly established and provide significant amount to the Gross State Domestic Product. And among these crops, apple and walnut contribute 80 percent to the horticultural output value in the erstwhile state. The government, therefore needs to provide better incentives to the farmers for these crops and alongwith it, address the challenges that the farmers face with respect to other crops.","PeriodicalId":415941,"journal":{"name":"Agro-Economist","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124168556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
